The McCarthys of Gansett Island: Book 1
Maddie Chester is determined to leave her hometown of Gansett Island, a place that has brought her only bad memories and ugly … place that has brought her only bad memories and ugly rumors. Then she’s knocked off her bike on the way to her housekeeping job at McCarthy’s Resort Hotel by Gansett’s “favorite son,” Mac McCarthy. He’s back in town to help his father with preparations to sell the family resort and has no intention of staying long. When Mac accidentally sends Maddie flying over the handlebars, badly injuring her, he moves in to nurse her back to health and help care for her young son. He soon realizes his plans for a hit-and-run visit to the island are in serious jeopardy, and he just may be “maid” for love.

This book, which introduced Marie Force’s Gansett Island series, is a most incredible read. Great opening scene, characters that instantly comets life and that, most importantly, you can relate to, and a wonderful story. I could ld not put it down. Highly recommend it.
So I got this book free shortly after I got my first Nook. And I fell in love with Marie Force. Now I’m so familiar with this family that I feel like they are part of the family. Although there are a LOT of characters, Marie does a great job creating them so it is easy to keep track of who’s who and what they are up to. Needless to say – I’m …
This is a lovely story with the heroine as a maid. It was very entertaining and I love the small-town community.
Wonderful story about a collision on the street and how it changed two lives. Engaging characters and storyline. Definitely worth reading. Sexual situations. No foul language.
Maddie is a very sympathetic character, a hard worker and a wonderful mother, who needs a self-confidence boost after dealing with unwanted attention and judgemental small-town gossip all her life. Mac is a sweet, romantic protector who tenderly cares for Maddie after accidentally causing her to be injured and who doesn’t believe the island rumor …
Enjoyed the book. Good series with wonderful people in a local setting.
This is probably a reread of this series for the third time for me. I just had to go back to Gansett Island where it all began with Mac and Maddie(defintely my favourite). I adore this series. Marie manages to capture your heart in every book and Maid for Love is a perfect read. Its the beginning of the McCarthy family – there are so many. …

Maddie is jaded – given a bad reputation for no reason other than refusing to have sex with a guy in high school, and left alone and pregnant by someone she thought loved her, she’s a tough single mom busting her butt to make ends meet for her and her son. When Mac plows into her life, quite …
I read this book back in 2012, but after reading Trouble After Dark, I felt a little disconnected with some of the characters and decided to do a re-read.
Best. Idea. Ever.
Even after eight years, the initial emotions were there and being on Gansett Island is always the best time for the piece of my soul that loves these fictional stories.
Mac …
Good book, great story. Too much explicit sex.

The story begins like a typical resort town contemporary romance. This isn’t a bad thing, because I like contemporary romance and the book is well written. The son of a wealthy family crashes (literally) into a maid at his parents’ hotel. The book …
A series worth reading.
From the few books of Marie Force I’ve read, I like the fact the male characters in her story are very “open” emotionally towards the people they love. This book Maid for Love is a perfect example.
A great beginning to a great series.
My first Marie Force book, read years ago and it began a great relationship with the folks both on Gansett Island and Butler VT.
I loved reading this book!
It’s easy to see why Marie Force has sky-rocketed to the top of the charts. She writes compelling characters with intriguing storylines in a pristine setting. I want to visit Gansett Island to meet these fun, realistic people. Since that probably isn’t possible, I’ll go for the next best thing… reading the next book in the series!
