On the outside, Bryce Hayes is satisfied with the structure of her life, her demanding career, and series of no-strings-attached relationships, but her brother bounces in and out of rehab, her mother thinks she can beat her son’s addiction, and her father is simply doing what he can to keep a semblance of “normal”. When Bryce’s father, Congressman Hayes, orders her to Granite Harbor, Maine, due … Granite Harbor, Maine, due to a string of threats to their family coming from an unidentifiable source, she doesn’t expect Ethan Casey, the sexy soldier who slept with her, then walked out, without so much as a goodbye, to be her landlord.
Ethan’s past is riddled with chaos, bullets, and loud noise. After returning to his small town after the war, he’s determined to get back to his roots.
˃˃˃ Peace, quiet, and working as a game warden for the Maine Warden Service sounds right as rain.
But with Bryce in Granite Harbor, staying in his house on Magnolia Road, Ethan can’t stop thinking about his future – and that includes Bryce. But to make things right with the love of his life, he’ll have to open old wounds and risk losing her forever.

I enjoyed the warmth and feel of this book. Sometimes you just need to read something for enjoyment. I would love to visit the place.
Magnolia Road is an excellent book!
I adored the story, & thoroughly enjoyed reading it! It is the first book I’ve read by
J. Lynn Bailey, & it won’t be my last.
It’s a touching, steamy, & emotional story.
Bryce, has chosen to stay in Granite Harbor, Maine, till it’s safe. Her family
has had threats made against them.
Bryce’s best friend, Alex & family live there.
It is also where Ethan is.
Bryce & Ethan, had one beautiful night,
till he disappears the next morning.
Ethan, is now a game warden, in Granite Harbor. His family & friends can see how Ethan has changed. But they don’t know how tortured his soul is, from everything he saw
& did as a Marine.
When Bryce & Ethan see each other
again, she’s angry. Slowly they become
friends. But, there is no denying Bryce
& Ethan’s intense chemistry.
This story really pulled all my heartstrings.
It is a well-written book,
that has beautifully developed characters
& has some incredible & touching scenes.
A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!!!
“Regrets are for those who refuse to change.”
I will say I don’t regret picking up this author and plowing through this series. I can’t get enough of these characters or the small town of Granite Harbor. A charming town and its people that wraps you up in a warm hug and doesn’t let you go. And I will tell you I don’t ever want it to let me go.
J. Lynn Bailey has perfected the slow burn in this series and Magnolia Road may have been the slowest burn of them all. Nothing ever felt rushed between the two characters which made their love feel real. Made it known to the world it would stand the test of time. The real life issues both faced only added to the story and made it all that more believable. The best thing about this author is she doesn’t force or rush her characters into things, she makes them work for it whether together or individually. I will be here forever if this is the style of writing this author keeps. It’s the best kind of story.
The author touched on some very deep, dark but very realistic issues in this book that many authors won’t touch and I applaud her for that. She did it with grace and a huge understanding of their keep impact. The PTSD and addiction in this book showed just how powerful love can be. Love from the people around and in the end love for yourself. She showed us that even the most broken deserved to be loved.
“I think we all deserve to be the happiness on book covers, calendar pages, postcards.”
I think we all deserve the stories that J. Lynn Bailey brings to us. I can’t wait to read the next Granite Harbor book and well anything this author brings us after that.
4.5 Stars
A beautiful story full of heartache, laughter, love, and a this constant underlying message of destiny. Bryce and Ethan cross paths because she needs a place to lay low, and Granite Harbor is it. He owns the house on Magnolia Road, and once Bryce realizes this their paths cannot be uncrossed. Throughout this story we follow two people who are have been broken in different ways due to their life circumstances, but who find something they need in one another. We have r pleasure of being on their journey of discovery, discovering their own inner strengths as well as the strength they can have when they use one another. There are moments of sadness, moments of joy, and moments of danger, but in the end you get a happily ever after that is so very fulfilling!

Magnolia road is the third book in the Granite Harbor Series by J. Lynn Bailey. The back drop of the four book series is a small town on the rugged coast of Maine – Granite Harbor. This is a contemporary romance series about a group of flawed thirty-something characters who navigate the back roads of Maine in search of life experience. I found this on the author’s website: “Lies Unfold. Integrity is questioned. Heartbreak is consequent. Fate can be a beast.” Each book is a standalone but they are interconnected. I picked up here in book three and didn’t miss a beat.
Let’s start with this. If I am ever in trouble and need to escape then you could probably find me in Granite Harbor, Maine. I am completed in LOVE with this sweet little coastal town that just a few hours from one of my favorite places – Boston. I say this now but I might think differently if I needed to escape in the winter when it’s covered in snow. I want to get coffee at Level Ground Coffee Shop and spend my days reading books from Rain All Day Books. I’m ready for a trip north right now! Who’s coming with me?
Bryce is the daughter of Congressman Robert Hayes from California who is temporarily relocating to Granite Harbor to allow some things to “blow over”. Congressman Hayes has been receiving threatening emails that has him uncharacteristically rattled and Bryce, who is not one to run away, leaves after realizing that her father is terrified. Why Granite Harbor? Bryce’s best friend, Alex, lives in Granite Harbor with her husband and children. Granite Harbor is the epitome of everything this city girl every wanted. Small. Quaint. Lovely.
Ethan works for the Maine Warden Service and owns a beautiful pink house on Magnolia Road in Granite Harbor that he rents out to the seasonal tourists. Bryce re-thinks her trip to Granite Harbor when she realizes that Ethan, the sexy ex-soldier that she had a one night stand with in LA, is her landlord. She was certain that he felt the connection too but he was gone when she work up the next morning. Ethan’s heart is as broken as Bryce’s but he’s afraid that his past will keep them apart and he’s committed to keeping her safe even it means giving her up.
This is a beautiful and heartbreaking depiction of how love and support can help heal a person’s wounds. It is also a story about how PTSD and drug addiction can destroy people and their families. It is about a man who has found the love of his life but is afraid to be with her. It is about a woman who loves a man so much that she’s willing to take anything that he will give her. It’s hard to say that I loved this book considering the heavy topics involved but I did. I cried for my cousin who struggles with drug abuse, for my friends how have come back from deployments with PTSD, and for the families who deal with physical abuse. It is with a great deal of respect for J. Lynn Bailey that I give Magnolia Road 5 out of 5 propellers! She was able to deal with these issues in such a respectful and uplifting manner that you really must read this book!
Another stellar read by J. Lynn Bailey! Magnolia Road is the very emotional story of Bryce Hayes and Ethan Casey. Even though this is part of the Granite Harbor series, this can be read as a standalone.
Bryce temporarily relocates to Granite Harbor when her Congressman father is being sent threatening emails. Granite Harbor is a place familiar to her, her best friend Alex lives there and she had visited her and her family quite a bit so she was actually looking forward to the move and change of pace of Los Angeles. Unfortunately, the only downside was that Ethan Casey was also there. Ethan and Bryce had a one-night stand that broke Bryce’s heart and she was not really ready to see him again, especially when they saw each other again a few months later and he basically ignored her. Unknown to Bryce, Ethan is still suffering from his days in combat. He genuinely feels he has no right to be in any kind of relationship, especially with someone like Bryce. But now that she is in town and he happens to be her new landlord, he can’t seem to stay away from her. She brings him such a sense of peace.
Their journey towards their happily ever after is complex, there were so many times Bryce just wanted to give up on them, but something about Ethan kept pulling her back. And once the danger comes to Granite Harbor and targets Bryce, Ethan no longer had any doubts of his feelings towards her.
I loved everything about this book! So much emotions, strength and a few heart pounding moments. An awesome read. I highly recommend it.
The storm that rages in your eyes, is it just for me?” I nervously wait for his answer.
“It’s always just for you, Bryce.”
Every time J Lynn Bailey posts about a new book she is writing, I get excited and happy and count the days until it’s release, because this lady writes GOLD!
Granite Harbor is one of my favorite series EVER!
Every book is brilliant! She’s developed a family, amazing characters, fantastic plots, a funny and sweet town you can’t help but fall in love with.
Magnolia Road is book 4 in the series, it tells us the story of Ethan and Bryce. I’ve loved her since book 1 and couldn’t wait to read about her. Ethan is the perfect book boyfriend, he is sexy, sweet, twin, marine… They connect with each other and the story is very emotional!
Their journey consumed me, I enjoyed every minute and it was impossible to put it down. I felt every word, every tear, every smile.
My favorite quote: “Regrets are for those who refuse to change.”
I can’t recommend it enough. Absolute reading bliss!
This is the first time in reading this author with the story catching my eye. I do love a good one that has suspense and hot mixed together as this one did. The suspense and danger gives it a edge with the chemistry that builds when they get together. Bryce and Ethan carry us readers in this one with life giving a curve that gives a jolt. This author was able to capture my attention and keep it giving me characters that I sank into. This one also knew how to pull on the emotional strings taking us with hits. If I was to see more from this author I would read it.
