Sometimes fate drops your future on your lap; other times fate hides it right under your nose. When Madison traded up for a gorgeous Victorian house in the New Orleans French Quarter, she thought she was getting away from her toxic life. Sure, the house was old and run-down, but it was hers, and it was exactly the fresh start she wanted. But then she meets Remy, a mysterious, sexy witch with power, … witch with power, class, and charm to spare, and everything changes.
Unknown to Madison, her arrival in New Orleans sets in motion a chain of events that throws everyone’s life into disarray—not just hers. Now, pushed into the middle of an ancient war between vampires and witches, she must unravel the secrets of the house she’s inhabiting before the forces awakened by her very presence rise from their centuries-old slumber, hungry and eager to feed on everything they can find.
Starting with her.

POS: This story is the first in what could develop into a great series. Strong plot lines and characters that will carry well.
I Love Maddie, our leading lady, great personality and she does eventually get around to pulling up her big girl panties.
Nicole is her plucky neighborhood witch whom I see possibly pulling a strong supporting lead in book 2. (She had better)
Jean-Luc is definitely a swoon-worthy leading man and our resident Vamp.
Remy is the leader of the New Orleans coven, and Ohh is he smooth.
NEG: We are not given a lot on Maddie’s background. We get some filler but I would like more meat,
I really liked Remy – okay he is a little of a bad boy but, I think there is a lot more to his story, and I would have liked to hear some of it in the first book.
Jean-Luc, he talks about moving his family, who are they? … again MORE information, please!
I understand this is a series and you have to leave some mystery but I would have liked just a few more details.
Definitely, recommend for any lover of the paranormal genre – I am moving on to book two.
There’s a ‘real feel’ to the protagonist in this Urban Fantasy set in New Orleans. She is a descendant from a birth family, which the reader is yet to learn more about and this entitles Madison to a unique heritage. It also forces on her responsibilities she had hoped to live without as the character wishes for a quiet life to focus on her writing career.
The forbidden love aspect in this story is what kept my attention the most, where she is encountered with choices of righteousness vs the acceptance of her own kind, due to the desire for one man. The tension the author creates around the city and its creatures, makes you experience its battling rival covens. In the neighbourhood’s serious atmosphere, Madison stands out as a curious and naive girl. Although she comes across in this manner, she has a sharp head and won’t be fooled by the mysteries people want to hide. I found that the mystery around the leaders of the witches in contrast to the dark voice of the vampire to be especially captivating. It gave a sense of forbidden love about Madison’s and Jean Luc’s encounters. The brief explanations about Madison’s heritage spiced my curiosity as to who the Chateau had been occupied by earlier and what importance Madison’s parents had in the underlying plot.

Magic Reborn is a new series by Katerina Martinez. When Madison a writer buys a new house in New Orleans to escape her past, her present is in for a treat. Because the house she just purchased has huge sleeping secret. Oh and did I mention that Madison is also a witch.
Now with New Orleans being full of mysterious folklore Madison should have all kind of new inspiration on her next new book. Except Madison is well aware not everything you see or hear is not folklore.
Katerina Martinez wrote a well rounded book, with interesting character’s and content. With that Martinez leaves enough suspense to leave you wanting to know more about her character’s. I was very please with this book and the way each page flowed into the next.
What a great way to start a new series.
Wow! I could not put this down! I finished it in one night. I loved this story and can’t wait for the next book! Awesome tale of witches and vampires and their inborn animosity. I most definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves witches and vampires, magic, mystery, and New Orleans.
