The Mayor was murdered? And a magical plant from my garden is to blame?Even if I wanted that jerk dead, running my Bed & Breakfast takes all my time. There’s no way I could have snuck a murder into my busy schedule, but obviously, someone I know did. They stole a plant from my garden and poisoned the Mayor. It couldn’t be my hard-working assistant, the delivery driver, or my gardener, could it … driver, or my gardener, could it be? And I’m sure it wasn’t the sexy water witch who spends an absurd amount of time staying at my little Bed & Breakfast…but he does know way more than he should about magical plants.
When the police ask for my cooperation, I begin to investigate myself. Who would steal from me? Frame me? None of my friends look like they could murder anyone…but what does a murderer look like?
But don’t worry, I have this all under control.
I’m a potion witch and have a few tricks up my sleeve.

A fun fast entertaining read. Schultz’s books are never dull, and this is the start of a series with great promise.
Received a free copy for a review. Loved the characters and Moonstruck Manor. Plan to read more in this series.
A great start to the series. I did not expect the murderer to be who it ended up being. I was so surprised! The characters seem like they’ll develop beautifully as the series progresses.

Who poisoned the mayor? Follow the clues and
see if you can guess the culprit before he/she is revealed at the end of the story.
I think this new series by Joynell will be a hit like her previous series have been. I enjoyed it and I
recommend it to young and old alike who like to
delve into a whodunnit to solve the mystery!
This is a fun prequel to a new series! Both the setting as well as the characters are my kind of quirky – this little appetizer of a novella definitely makes me want to read more.
Fun and delightful series starter!
Aubrey Dirksen, the charming main character of this fun little cozy mystery, is a potion witch and the proprietor of Moonstruck Manor, a B&B catering to the paranormal community. In this story, the mayor of the town has been murdered by magical means and the race to find who is responsible moves along at a brisk pace. Aubrey reluctantly finds herself harboring suspicions and doubts about everyone around her but she is determined to get to the bottom of the mystery even when she finds herself in danger from the killer. This is a wonderful start to a promising series. The setting lends itself readily to so many possibilities since any type of magical being could check in on any given day to create mischief and mayhem. This story offered a great plot, some delightful characters, a bit of mystery and suspense and a hint of potential romance. I am looking forward to seeing where the author takes this series in the future.
I was given a copy of this book by the author and I am voluntarily offering my honest and unbiased review.
Boy, do I relate to Aubrey! I tend to see how others could match and totally miss any romantic interest in me. Unlike Aubrey, I do not have a mystery to distract me. It’s a good thing that Oliver is so persistent. May I be so lucky!

Another fun series by Ms Schultz!
I really like this author’s writing style, I have read several of her books and she never disappoints! This book is the start to a new series and the main character Aubrey, who runs a B&B for paranormal’s, is a potion witch. Someone took a snip of a rare and potentially deadly plant from her garden and brews up a potion to murder the obnoxious mayor. Was it one of her guests or a friend? Are they trying to implicate Aubrey? And what’s up with the cute water witch lawyer? Aubrey keeps catching him not being completely honest. A fun story with paranormal’s, a little romance and a great cast of characters. Can’t wait to read the next in the series!!
I received an ARC. This is my honest review.

Sometimes you just never know who you can trust.
A story of friends, friendships and trust. It’s hard to understand what goes through people’s minds. All we can do is take things in stride and roll with the punches. This story mimics real life in ways that leave the reader pondering. Great author and another great read! Well done!
I enjoyed this paranormal mystery. I found the storyline interesting and well written. I loved the characters and found them well developed. A book that kept me pulled in. I recommend reading.

Aubrey Dirksen enjoys running her Moonstruck Manor mansion-turned-bed-and-breakfast, along with her assistant, Isabella. She had many supernatural regulars who stayed there and filled her with their adventure stories she could enjoy without leaving her home. After cleaning a clog out of the bathtub for an older couple, she ran right into Oliver Redmond. He was a monthly visitor at the B&B who worked for a New York law firm. He was an elemental witch with an affinity to water and loved both the lake and the bathtub in each room. Isabella called up the stairs that the police were there, so she had to get back downstairs.
The female officers asked to be shown around her garden, and specifically asked to see the “grave ivy”. Grave ivy was used in potions but could be deadly if ingested in a large enough quantity. Because of that, Aubrey was on a national register as having one of the gardens that grew it. They found one of the plants was very recently harvested, which Aubrey says was odd since she had not trimmed it all season. Then they reminded her Mayor Hackshaw of Black Hallows died last week. Nodding at the plant, she told her he was poisoned! Now Aubrey has to list the people who stayed at the B&B and visited her garden. Thinking back, several had behaved suspiciously. Who committed the murder? Could the killer really be one of her beloved guests? Will Aubrey be accused?
This was a great start to this cozy mystery series! The author is so good at these and brings her characters to life for the reader! Grab your copy and follow the clues with Aubrey!
Magically Poisoned, Prequel – I always enjoy the stories by Ms. Schultz and this one I interesting. The good storylines and a variety of characters give plenty of who-could-have-done-it choices. Aubrey the BnB owner may be a bit paranoid but she still came across as a nice witch. There’s touches of romance, match making and some humor. A quick flowing, easy to read with bits of magic. 4*
The Mail-Order Witch, Pilot Episode – A cute, sweet introduction to Ettie, a pure-blood witch, her Mail-Order Witch Facebook posting for pure-blood warlock and her discoveries. The characters are sweet and likeable. A touch of drama balanced with good humor. 4*
The Mail-Order Witch, Episode 1 – This story starts about three months after the Pilot ends. This hard to put down story works for all ages, with good behavior winning out over bad. While not a cliffhanger, the story does continue in Episode 2. The storylines are well thought out and make sense. There is a gamut of characters ranging from sweet to raging meanies. This talented storyteller does well with her clear descriptions and has a good sense of humor.
One problem is solved but the main issue still needs to be resolved, the responsible person behind the troubles facing Ettie and Roman. I read both books to my five-year-old granddaughter and she is in love with the story. She wanted a foxtail, the little heifer. 4*
Aubrey Dirksen just wants to do a little better than make ends meet at Moonstruck Manor in this family-friendly cozy mystery which can be read in a morning.

Aubrey is enjoying running her bed and breakfast, meeting new people. Aubrey has a few guest at the the B&B when the police come to ask her a few questions. Turns out the Mayor was murdered by grave ivy, she she has in her garden. Aubrey now has to make a list of people that stayed there and went into her garden. Now Aubrey is now having to look at everyone and everyone has been acting suspicious.
Aubrey is also seems to be attracted Oliver, one of the guests that are staying there. Seems to think he will be better suited for Isabella, but is he the murderer. Or Isabella and Sebastian have been acting weird as well.
Aubrey decides to take matters in her own hands to get to the bottom of everything, with one of her potions. Will Aubrey like the answers she gets or is the killer closer than she realizes
This was a nice introduction to series, I really enjoyed the start of this series. Love the characters of Aubrey, Isabella and others. Can’t wait to see what the next book holds.

Magically Poisoned, a novella by Joynell Schultz, is a wonderful cozy mystery about a murder and all the characters who might have done it. Add a little match making and suspense and you have all the elements that make a fun read. I received an ARC. This is my honest and voluntary review.
I always love the concoctions of Ms. Schultz’s creativity! This sweet paranormal mystery is a great example of why – I found it incredibly engrossing with the interesting characters (most of whom have magical abilities), the intriguing mystery, the potential romance, and the compelling world-building.
Aubrey was really likable and fun to watch, both as she addressed the case of the mayor’s murder and the possible romances among herself and those she works with in the story. I love how Ms. Schultz is always able to make her characters and worlds seem so real and relatable even when they are light-years from our reality. Aubrey was not only smart, resilient and professional; she was also vulnerable and experiencing learning and growth which made her and the story feel really well-rounded and more complex than a lot of novellas I’ve read. As usual, I didn’t want the story to end and I am TOTALLY looking forward to the next installment in the series. Glad this was just the beginning!
Aubrey is a potions witch with quite a garden. A tricky divorce left her with an inn attached to her garden, and her ex husband with most of their money.
The garden has some rare and BBC selectively dangerous plants.
With several frequent guests and a few specimens missing from the garden, murder seems to be on the menu – along with a little romance, though often between unexpected parties
Intriguing mysteries and relationships
