She must learn to fly, but can she withstand the allure of the handsome new teacher? Now a Top 3 book in the entire Amazon Kindle store! The decision has been made. Jessie has taken the magic, and all the weird that goes with it. Including wings. There’s only one problem – she can’t figure out how to access them.Through a series of terrible decisions, Jessie realizes she must ask for help. Gargoyle … Jessie realizes she must ask for help. Gargoyle help.
But she could’ve never predicted who answers her call – he’s an excellent flier, incredibly patient, and a good trainer. He’s also incredibly handsome. And interested.
Maybe flying isn’t the only thing she needs help with. Maybe she needs help getting back on that saddle, too, emerging into the dating pool.
Except, the new gargoyle is also an alpha, just like Austin, and the town isn’t big enough for two.
Turns out, flying is the least of her problems.

This book was BETTER than the first, I laughed so loud my husband wanted to know what was so funny! For action lovers there is plenty of that too.
Sarcasm At It’s Best & A Sexy Alpha In His Prime, Yum!
Age Is Just A Number With This Crew Of Magically Enhanced Beings!
Magical Midlife Dating (Leveling Up #2)
Jessie accepted Ivy House’s magic & everything has been ticking along quite nicely. No-one has come to challenge, kidnap, or try to mate, marry or become allied with her – yet, phew!! She does need to learn it’s magic & one very important part in particular – flying – they think, are pretty sure?? Jessie & the House call on assistance. Will it be helpful when it arrives? Bad things are bound to come for her sooner or later after all. Yeah, she’d rather try online dating instead.
This book is hilarious, it has some very serious & thought provoking moments too but the wit, sarcasm & snark just slayed me! The dating experiences make me so thankful I’ve been happily married for over 30 years! I was crying tears of mirth, although some rather large bouts of anger stirred too, misogynistic gits! One of the biggest treats is a scene in the Houses secret passages – Oh dear me, I just died! I love Austin, I’m just putting that out into the universe, he melts me. A new character really grew on me a lot, I hope they stay! The three old timers, there just aren’t words!!
This is wonderfully crafted story, it’s cleverly written & has the world build to back up where ever the Author chooses to take the story. I couldn’t find fault in it in all honesty – if I had to gripe it would be that I hope that the next book releases asap because I’m so invested in these characters & the town’s folk of O’Briens!!

I wasn’t sure quite what to expect from the second book. While the chemistry between the MC and the Big Bad Guy Love Interest was electric, very little happened in the first book (romantically speaking.) I’m one of those people who NEEEEEDs a romantic subplot in her fantasy. I become bored and uninvested without it. (So sue me.) I was worried it might fizzle or even not develop in this second book. . .but for no reason! It ramps up perfectly.
In fact, everything you loved in the first book is *better* this time around. The hilarious butler. The romantic tension. There’s a love triangle (which *I* really like, detractors be darned.) This is one of those where you KNOW which side you are cheering for but it’s still fun to increase the tension.
And the main character continues to grow, and gain confidence. The side characters are endearing and keep on moving the narrative. And I like the added element of family drama that was pretty minimal in the last one. I downloaded book 3 immediately.
If you enjoyed the first, this one is a slam dunk–and the next one is a no-brainer.
I liked this book even more than the first one. I see a lot of reviews that say they don’t like Jessie’s character development, but I was very happy I didn’t have to hear about creaking bones on a 40 year old anymore. She is funny and starts to take charge. Sure, she is unsure of herself at times, but who wouldn’t be in that situation. Also, the action starts to pick up and there is more “excitement” in that regard. There are several hilarious parts of this book including a gargoyles attempt at romance. I loved this book!
ANYTHING
I started swimming through all the books in the “new” magical midlife crisis genre, and this series is a stand-out! The secondary characters in particular are a hoot. The voice is very bouncy and irreverent, almost silly, and it does take a bit to rev up. Stick with it! Worth it!
This made me smile on difficult days listening to fantasy & paranormal beings with a middle aged woman who inherits a home and it’s magical powers. This showed emotions of everyday people but in a magical way.
Jacinta has accepted the magic of Ivy House. But now she has to learn how to use it. When her emotions flare so does her magic. As she tries to learn to fly, she inadvertently sends out a summons for help. Of course, plummeting towards her death may have been the main cause. And when creatures begin answering the call, she will have to choose who will stay to become part of her team.
It isn’t just magic Jacinta is struggling with, she’s also trying to become comfortable with herself. She’s jumping back into the dating game in her forties and finding out that online dating sucks. I think we’ve all been there and can relate to the situations she finds herself in. Jacinta also struggles with accepting her body and the social awkwardness of meeting virtual strangers. But through it all, she learns to accept herself and refuses to change who she is for a man. My favorite aspect of this series is that K.F Breene instills in readers the need to be true to yourself. So what if you’re older? Live life and enjoy it.
Quirky characters and humor are part of the deal when picking up this series. But as much as I love the snide remarks from Niamh and the absurd comments from Mr. Tom, there were moments the humor went a bit too far. A large chunk of it in book two was geared towards Jacinta’s embarrassment around the various mythical creatures shifting to humans and not having any clothes on. And the amount of times Jacinta scoped out the opposite sex annoyed me.
But despite having some moments I didn’t particularly enjoy, the main plot and overall themes of the Leveling Up series makes me invested in the series. I want to see Jacinta have her happy ever after, and I want her to be able to unleash her full potential.
Omg!!!! These books are just getting funnier!!! This is such an original story, which is very refreshing. I’m so in love with this world & its characters!! Whoever is reading this review, you have to read this series!! Do not wait!
I am thoroughly enjoying these books. Great characters! It hits on all cylinders. Some spots are just laugh-out-loud funny and had my dogs looking at me to see if something was wrong. I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to give any of the fun away. Get the book and scare your pets with your laughter.
I love it. It was hilarious, terrifying, sexy, and full of action. I love Jessie’s team they are the bomb. Magical folks long in the tooth are strange, creepy, and full of antics.
If you’re looking for a fun story about a woman who finds her ‘powers’ after divorce and turning forty, this is for you. Warning, the story is a continuation from book 1 and doesn’t totally end here. So book three is a must read as well. It’s kind of like reading her diaries from her new, magical life. But there’s a hot bear shifter who you know she’s going to end up with. Eventually.

Lots of laughter!
Wonderful characters getting into some supremely interesting situations. Some mysterious, some frightening, and some laugh out loud funny! Love this series!
Decisions, decisions
Oh yeah, Jessie has to step up her game in this one & Austin has to make a choice. Alpha’s clash, we get a look at a whole new creature, all while a new battle is going down. The good news is Jessie finally believes in herself and proves to herself she’s worthy of the magic of Ivy House.
Now Jessie is settled into Ivy House (so far) it is time for her to dip her toes back into the dating pool. Dating is a bit of a hassle for her because of the whole magical thing she has been trying to get a handle on. Come to think of it, it may just be impossible for her to find someone who won’t go running away.
Maybe she should just try to figure out just who is really is first, oh yeah and she also needs to learn how to fly! Time to embrace her new life fully.
This is book two of a wonderful series full of colorful characters and a tough woman who proves that age comes with a pretty awesome mind too.
Come visit with Ivy House once again, come for the laughs and stay for the mysteries.
Magical Midlife Dating: A Paranormal Women’s Fiction Novel
Leveling Up, Book 2
By: K.F. Breene
Narrated by: Nicole Poole
This book is almost as funny as book one! It is as good as book one in the characters, the hilarious banter (I love Tom!), the craziness of this life, and the subtle romance. I laughed and laughed! This book had many kidnapping attempts, Jessie learning to fly (), and alpha males being alpha males! Totally insane! We meet a Bigfoot too! Loads of fun!
Definitely read in order and get the Audible version over ebook or print! The narration is so terrific!!!
Jessie has accepted the magic from Ivy House, but now she has to learn how to use it ~ and as intended coz the unitential bit she seems to have sorted!
After accidentally summoning for help, a group of gargoyles arrive just in time save the day and Jessie, but now shes in a different kind of trouble, man trouble! With males throwing themselves at her, dates made out of horror movies and danger lurking, Jessie has her hands full!
Another great instalment of a fantastic and refreshing series!!
Big fan of K.F. Breene, and this one doesn’t disappoint. Do read book one first though. Definitely recommend.
The only down side to finishing this book is I have a couple of months to wait for book 3-
Jessie’s story continues where she finds the faith to believe in herself and her magic. With Austin by her side along with the rest of her growing group of friends who are fast becoming family the story sucked me in and I couldn’t stop reading. For the record I’m team AUSTIN!
Fantastic second book in this brilliant series!
K.F. Breene has created another magical world that I love. It’s filled with entertaining characters that you can’t help but fall in love with. She is genius with blending mythical creatures into the modern world. Her trademark adventure and hilarity do not disappoint. It has been a real treat to flow along with Jessie as she navigates her new magical life. I hope there will be many more adventures.
