What an amazing end to the series. It was absolutely perfect, with cameos from all my favourite characters, and so lovely to see Kate and Curran and the gang ride off into the sunset happily.
It’s been a wild ride. I’m sad to be at the ended of the Kate Daniels series, but also Kate and Curren have earned their HEA. It’s time to let go, but I do hope we can return to this world and maybe see some of the characters again; especially Julie.
Magic Triumphs was another action-packed adventure. I cried. I laughed. I gasped. I felt. It was a wonderful ending to a magical series. It’s everything a fan needed to put closer to a series.
The writing duo showcased major characters we have come to love and brought some back so we can say goodbye. Their is nothing I would change. It made this fan happy and sad all at the same time.
The Kate Daniels series hooked me with book one and this series will always be one of my favorites. Each time I read or listen to the books I feel like it’s the first time. It’s a magical feeling.
Magic Triumphs is an emotional read that leaves you satisfied at the end.
Rated: 4 Stars
This is the final book in the Kate Daniels’ series, and Kate and her friends face a new big bad. It’s action-packed and as always the worldbuilding is amazing. It was fun revisiting characters, and I loved how they worked together to gain peace. This book did not disappoint, and I highly recommend the entire series.
What a great ending to Kate and Curran! This is the 10th book in the series, so you should start with Magic Bites if it’s new to you. 🙂
This is it. The conclusion to the Kate Daniels series. How do I feel about this? Sad, but you eventually have to finish a series. However, do I think this series could’ve continued for another 10 books? YES! The Kate Daniels series is one of the few Urban Fantasy series that has been consistently phenomenal. The authors came up with original action-packed story-lines for each and every book. I devoured them all. The stories were funny, emotional, paranormal, romantic, action-packed, mysterious and so much more. There was always a great balance between all these elements. The authors figured out the perfect formula for Urban Fantasy series.
Magic Triumphs. I loved this story and I thought it was a great way to end the series. So many of the characters that appeared in previous books appeared in Magic Triumphs, even unexpected ones. I enjoyed seeing all of them be apart of this book. It all came full circle, and it got me a bit emotional at times. Kate has so much on her shoulders and would do anything to save the people she loves. In this book you’ll see how much Kate would sacrifice to make sure her people are safe. I laughed, cried, swooned, and was on the edge of my seat throughout this book. I tried to read as slow as possible to savor it but the writing is so amazing, I flew right through it. Kate and Curran are one of my all time favorite couples, they grew so much in this series, and it makes me so sad to say goodbye. I think this book will be a treat for all the fans!
I’m in denial. This is NOT the last Kate Daniels book because Ilona Andrews has set up a world that will go on forever. At least, if I have anything to say about it. 😉
Well I finally got to sit and read this the final instalment in what has grown to be a must read series. I’ve held off as long as I can but with the authors returning to this world several years later with a book featuring Julie I honestly could not bury my head in the sand anymore. I was worried that the ending of this fabulous journey would be a damp squib but no I should have trusted that Kate, Curran and all the old gang come together one last time to glorious effect.
A new enemy but there’s still the tricky problem of Roland who is never going to let his daughter Kate live in peace. Stomach churning atrocities, monsters and assassins are all heading to Atlanta but for Kate its possible that what sleeps under her own roof will be her biggest challenge but my lips are sealed !
Holy Shitake, the things I have witnessed, unspeakable, fantastic, horrific, beautiful things, all the feels on steroids. I will miss this world and the characters.
This series is one of the best that I have ever read. Yes, there are some weird and wonderful creatures added to the storyline which some may think are a step too far from the norm, but despite this, the storyline and the way Kate Daniels managed to bring everyone together to fight for the common good was a real treat to behold. The books have their own special blend of humour, entertainment and romance. The romantic pairings are loveable and you can’t help to hold them in a special place in your heart.
As expected, the Roland storyline has reached its conclusion. Added into the mix this time is a dragon with the power to bring the whole of Atlanta to its knees. With Kate’s magical powers growing day by day she is now a feared adversary but for Neig, she is merely a means to an end.
The conclusion to the story, and series, provides readers with one of the most epic scenes to date and I must admit to holding my breath for all of the characters we have come to love.
I did cry at the end of the book, the series, and for everything that the author has given readers to date. It may be the end but Kate Daniels will never die.
Only read this review, if you have read all the previous books or this book may contain spoilers.
Well this was it. The end to a wonderful series that I will treasure forever and the characters I will miss.
As always I have trouble writing a review for the last book in a series. It is hard not to spoil stuff so I will make it fairly short.
As all the other books, this book sucked me right back into Kate’s world and I had to make myself stop so I can enjoy the book more than one day lol .
The book starts off a couple years after Magic Binds and Kate and Curran are now loving and proud parents to their son Conlan. Who without giving anything away is just the best mash-up between Kate and Curran you can ask for. Things have been quiet in Atlanta for a while but Kate and Curran, know it is just a matter of time before Roland shows up. Both have grown so much since we met them both and the famous “Here, Kitty, Kitty, Kitty…”
Not only have they grow a ton individually, but also a couple. Though there are still things they will hide from each other for the time being… of course…
Once stuff started happening it goes fast and fast paced and multiple things are happening to them and or around them . In order to win the big fight we have been waiting for, for ten books everyone must come together. Especially since they might be fighting multiple enemies.
As they building or trying to build (some are still buttheads and to stubborn) their final army we get to see many other people from previous books and it I really enjoyed it . One big one was Hugh d’Ambray. I really liked how all the played out in the end and it all came together…. (I still have to read Iron and Magic soon…..very soon)
As with all or most Ilona Andrews books, we get plenty of humor even with this emotional last book in the series. I laughed but I also cried, it has as most previous books some heartbreaking and tender moments. But also some really surprising things happened, there were a few things I never even crossed my mind.
The final battle while awesome was a bit predicable if you know their work but overall very enjoyable. Be warned, not everyone will make it out alive and we suffer some rather big loses.
While most of the story arc was nicely wrapped up and things all came together and made sense, there were a few things I thought was just left untouched or open ended. BUT after reading the epilogue I have some sliver of hope that we will have another spin-off somewhere or sometime. Here is to really hoping.
I can’t say all that much since I don’t want to spoil it but I’m still not 100% about my feeling with that ending.
Overall it was a fantastic ending to an epic series. And even though I has some minor issues with some things are left untouched I can’t help to give this books 5 . Because it the end it just didn’t matter that much … I just love it too much.

The apocalypse is going to be downright boring after this…
Epic and oh-so-satisfying. A worthy ending to the amazing Kate Daniels series – and with a family of characters that promise to carry on with stories of their own.
I loved the conclusion to the Kate Daniels series. The book was well-paced, engaging and wrapped everything up perfectly. The characters are fantastic and the world-building superb. I’m looking forward to reading more spin-offs of this series.
The last Kate Daniels book was everything I’d hoped for and more! Definitely for adults due to intimacy. The story brings about closure on so many fronts and the promise of a quieter future for the former beast lord & consort. Having baby Conlan along for the ride made for a very domestic yet very much Daniels normal world blended feel.
Kate grows a little more into her powers, with help from her Aunt Era. Lots of plot twists. A page turner from the begining
Kate has come to terms with claiming Atlanta. While she doesn’t like how drastically life has changed, she has had no choice but to accept it and move on. And now that far reaching dream of a home and family has come true. Kate has a family and a group of friends willing to defend them. When her father puts out a hit on her son, and an ancient enemy rears its head to attack Atlanta, it’s just another battle to Kate and the crew. But this time Kate has a lot more to lose.
Watching Kate as she struggles to balance being a mother and working her cases was a new level of entertainment. Ilona Andrews paired the skills Kate developed in the field into motherhood so well, even though I would never have thought the two would coincide. But having lightning fast reflexes with a toddler does come in handy. Especially because a child from Curran and Kate is bound to get into trouble, repeatedly.
There were a few areas where the book time jumps. But even with the slight gaps in the story, it flowed well, and I understood why the pace needed to pick up. Being the last in the series, Magic Triumphs, had a lot of loose ends to tie up. True to the Kate Daniels’ style, the pages flew by, but Ilona Andrews brought the series around full circle and made sure nothing was left unanswered. They even snuck in one last new culture of monsters and symbolism.
The final installment in the Kate Daniels series is everything fans of the series could hope for. Everything we have come to know and love about the series is compounded into one last book, and some older characters we haven’t seen in a while have a last chance to shine. There are myriad of short stories that take place in between the major books of the series, and I’m going to backtrack to read them and stay in this world a little bit longer. I’m just not ready to say goodbye.
I totally loved this book! I’ve read a
few of hers, but this was the best yet! I had no trouble picking up the thread even though there were a number of books that I missed reading.
This book held my interest the entire time and the best part was that I could nor tell exactly what was going to happen next!
I’m also a big Faith Hunter, Patricia Briggs and McKenzie Hunter fan, but I would highly recommend also reading this euthoress!!
Such a great way to say goodbye to Kate. There is an awesome opponent and everything that happens is both classic Kate and completely epic. Read this series.
This book wraps up the Kate Daniels series, and it does it with a bang!
It was hilarious to see Kate trying to deal with motherhood on top of everything else.
Like a lot of new mothers she read a lot of books on the subject while pregnant.
“As soon as honey crossed your babies lips, the words “Bad Mother” would magically appear on your forehead…” had me in stitches.
My daughter has daughters of her own, but that brought back the memory of dealing with a baby for the first time.
Of course this wouldn’t be a KD book – much less a satisfying finale – if there wasn’t a world ending level threat to deal with. It takes friends and enemies working together to even begin to have a chance to keep Atlanta from being only the first to fall to this new threat.
Naturally some of those enemies try to take advantage of the situation to further their own goals…
No spoilers, but if you haven’t read Hugh’s book “Iron and Magic” you might want to give it a try. It is set before “Magic Triumphs” and while it isn’t necessary to enjoy this book, it is an unexpectedly good read (though not an easy one – especially the start of it), and it will give you a new perspective on Hugh and the role he played in Kate’s life up until this point.
I highly recommend this book. It is everything a finale to a series should be.
Kate Daniels hasn’t let her father’s determination to take over the world stop her from having a life. She has a family now and is even more determined to keep them safe. When a new threat arrives she has to team up with some unexpected allies to defeat them. Kate knows she might not survive but she is determined to try.
I have put this book off for two years because I wasn’t ready for this series to end. With all the recent stress, I decided it was time for a comfort read so I picked this series back up. I am so glad I did too because I forgot how amazing it was, and how addicting. I am an emotional mess now that I have finished too.
This book takes place two years after the events in Magic Binds. Kate and Curran are parents now and I loved all the family scenes. Kate is just as protective of a mother as I expected her to be and Curran is just a proud papa. Conlan was just adorable and I couldn’t get enough of him. Also the relationship between Kate and Curran is so strong. I just love their relationship and witty banter.
“You and me, Kate. We’re forever.”
This was an action packed ending for the series. A new enemy is trying to destroy Atlanta so Kate and Curran have to pull everyone together for a battle, including some enemies. When I finished Iron and Magic (Hugh’s book), I felt like there was a lot left unsaid and it felt incomplete which I was disappointed by. This book filled in the missing information about who was attacking and why. It also makes sense now as to why everything wasn’t revealed in Hugh’s book.
This was a fantastic ending to the series. Kate and Curran finally get their HEA and can focus on their family. I am extremely sad that there will be no more Kate books but I am hopeful for future books in this world.
Last book in a beloved series… what can I say, but of course I’ve read it and love it. And, hate that its all over… but no, the author’s were kind- there are spin-offs and other series. The last Kate Daniels book was exactly what it needed to be to end the series on a high note.
Magic Triumphs is book ten in the Kate Daniels series. This fabulous and gritty post-apocalyptic urban fantasy series must be read in order.
In Magic Triumphs, all that has been simmering and threatening to boil does indeed boil over. Except, of course, Kate can’t catch a break and a new horror descends on Atlanta right about the time she gets word that her father, Roland, is on the move set to conquer Atlanta, her, her son, and the world. Kate is barely holding on by a thread what with motherhood of a precocious child gifted with both his parents’ strengths, being the In Shinar princess that all look to, pulling together the motley group of Atlanta’s strongest to face what is coming at them, and confronting her fears of loss now that she has so many beloved lives in her heart.
Like a good last book will do, Magic Triumphs pulls in all the old gang for one last hurrah together, sprinkles it with a few amusing moments, lots of kick-butt action, suspense, surprise twists, and a grand finale that couldn’t be topped.
I loved the balance of action, introspection, passion, friendship, and the culmination of plot development. The new threat was a worthy one just as the way Kate and Curran face it together was perfect. I finished this book with feelings of triumph to match the title, satisfaction that it ended the way it should, and a sense of sadness that this was the end. Did I mention that I’m glad for the side series to ameliorate some of the book depression?
Don’t even ask if I’d recommend this book. And, for those who haven’t started yet, do so and enjoy the urban fantasy treat coming your way.
