CASEYI’ve been putting my son first for so long that I’ve forgotten how to be me. Each monotonous day bleeds into the next, and I feel like I’m struggling to keep my head above water. But a kiss at the top of a Ferris wheel with a man I barely know changes that.Jay reminds me that I used to be bold. Vivacious. Funny.Strong.Now if only I could convince him his past mistakes don’t define the man he … don’t define the man he is today.
JAY
I can perform over a dozen illusions with a simple sleight of hand, but I can’t make the felony on my record disappear.
The last thing I should be doing is hanging around a young single mom and her kid.
But Casey doesn’t know that I’ve been watching her. That I want her for myself. That I’m addicted to her dimples, her tenacity, her fierce love for her child.
If I was a better man, I’d leave her alone, but she pulls off the biggest magic trick of all time: making me believe I’m a good guy.
Although MAGIC MAN is the fifth book in the Good Guys series, it can be read as a standalone.

Wooooooooooow. All the stars. There is a reason that I am dubbed a Jamie Schlosser Super Fan and this book shows exactly why I am. I floved this book so much, it pulled my heart in the best possible ways. I felt every single emotion that these two felt. When they laughed, I laughed, when they cried, I cried, I mean every single emotion. I was on the same journey as they were, and it felt amazing. Honestly, I can’t even put into words how this book made me feel, but since I am already a Jamie Schlosser Super Fan, and I think this was her best book….I feel like that really says it all. By now everyone knows that Ezra from Outcast is mine (there are pics on social media), these two rivaled, and dare I say passed Ezra and Kayla for me. I know, I know, I can’t even. There are no words in this review that will possibly do this book justice. I will write my review, but I won’t be able to put into words how phenomenal I thought this book really was.
Casey and Jay meet in unusual circumstances, and he does a great thing, fast forward 2 years. This is an emotional journey of two soulmates that are down on their luck and working through their obstacles together. So many hurdles this young couple faces, but they face them head on. This was a safe read. No om or ow shenanigans, just two madly in love people trying to find their hea. He tries to push her away…that last about a hot second. Their chemistry was amazing, so was the love they felt for each other. My advice, have a box of tissues, I cried like the baby I am. All the first love feels and so many more. This book and these two were everything. Not since Ezra do I think that Jamie has written a male that will make your ovaries ache and you fall in love with the perfect book boyfriend. Jay is really everything, put he and Casey together and this book was everything. These two have my heart for sure, and I guarantee I won’t be the only one. We also get to catch up with some favorites, Jimmy and McKenna, while gaining some new favorites. There was a sweet epilogue and hea. Truly one of the best books I’ve read this year. Congratulations Jamie Schlosser, this book truly was magical….and I probably won’t have room for all the Bitmoji’s.
Casey and Jay’s story is beautifully written, and is emotional, heartbreaking, realistic, and a humorous and entertaining story which had me totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I highly recommend this gifted authors’ work for all readers.
Magic Man is a sweet, new adult romance. The blurb caught my attention, and I’m so glad it did! The plot was interesting and unique, unlike anything I’ve recently read. The imagery was vivid, and the storyline was very realistic. At times, I felt like the plot was a bit slow and too realistic, but for the most part, it was an enjoyable read.
Casey is simply amazing! She is strong, resilient, and a great mother. Her life is one heartbreak after another; I can’t imagine how she kept going. She has my respect and admiration for sure. Jay is tough and generous but full of self doubt. His past was a difficult one, and it broke my heart that he couldn’t seem to forgive himself and move forward.
This is my first book by Jamie Schlosser and is part of the Good Guys series. I read it as a standalone and had no difficulty following the story. I look forward to reading more in this series.
Magic Man quickly became one of my favorite books of the year. Both heartbreaking and unbelievably sweet all at the same time Casey and Jay’s story not only grabs you immediately it continues to pull you deeper and deeper into the story until the world around you ceases to exist. Jamie Schlosser once again manages to deliver a story that is not only unique but full of deep emotion and some of the best romance out there with Magic Man!
Jay stole my heart immediately. Even as a self proclaimed “bad guy” his heart was bigger than most. And the way he learned and grew from his past without even realizing it made an already good man and absolutely incredible one. There are just not enough words to accurately describe how magnificent he really is. Casey was equally wonderful. They depth of her love for her son and the endless strength she had to give her son the best life possible even when it seemed the world was against her had me loving her from the start, but the way she loved Jay? It was beyond perfect.
Prepare to cry and swoon in equal parts with this read!
Magic Man was kind of magical.
Jay and Casey’s story felt real, complete with hardships, heart breaking moments and decisions, and difficult pasts. Jay originally meets Casey at a difficult point in both their lives. Jay’s about to go to prison and Casey is a pregnant teenager, discovering the truth of her boyfriend. Jay gives her some cash to help her out, and spends the next two years in prison thinking of her and worrying about her.
Upon release he does his best to check on her, from afar. A little like a stalker but in a good way!
There definitely is an element of instalove going on here; Casey and Jay’s reunion moves a little fast. But both of them have lived some difficult lives, so their maturity level is higher than you’d normally expect of an 18 and 22 year old.
Magic Man is full of chemistry, love, heartbreak, and most of all, magic.
Jay & Casey’s story is EXCELLENT!!! All the heart eye emojis!! I was SOOOO thrilled to learn Jay was getting a story. He intrigued me the first time I read Droupout. I’m always on the lookout for seemingly only supporting characters to break out & get their own books. 😀
I love the way these two are with each other. Their sweetness, vulnerability & love leap off the page. And GUS! Oh my goodness, he is such a sweet & shiny addition to this story. His interactions w/ his Day… *hearts*
We get banter and sexy times and a princess bucket full of shiny feels. Absolutely adore this story! It joins the rest of the series on my favorite rereads shelf! : )
Its been a while since I wanted to REALLY savor a book, but Magic Man is…was LIFE CHANGING! Sincerely sweet, hot as hell and completely and irrevocably heart AND soul melting, Magic Man was EVERY-EFFING-THING!
Jay is the BEST hero yet! His undeniable protective nature and thoughtfulness mixed with his jaw dropping good looks make him the most SWOON worthy hero I have ever met. He captured my heart from the VERY beginning to the VERY end. And Casey…she is incredibly strong, resilient, Self sufficient and has one amazing heart. I really liked her! Jay and Casey were PERFECT and their story transformed me. There was so much sexiness and sweetness and there was some really heart wrenching moments that had me bursting into tears! This is my new #1 Good Guys story! Jamie Schlosser SERIOUSLY outdid herself with Magic Man. I am in LOVE with it and honestly am having a hell of a time trying to put ALL my feelings about this book into words. This book CAN NOT be missed!
Magic Man blew me out of the water and I give this amazing book ALL THE FREAKING STARS! A MUUUUUUUUUST READ!
I simply adored this book! One thing you can always count on with Jamie’s books is feeling the events and characters emotions all the way to your soul and trust me Magic Man is no different. I laughed, cried, smiled and so much more right along with Casey, Jay and little Gus. The storyline will warm your heart, break it a time or two and piece it back together. I have no doubt that the various events of the storyline have touched us all in one way or another in our own lives and the authors handling of these events was simply magical.
Casey is a single mom struggling to make ends meet and be a good mom to her son, Gus. Jay is a guy who is obsessed with her (not in a creepy way) but doesn’t think he’s good enough for her so he stays in the shadows, watching over her and Gus. Jay has spent time in prison and knows Casey and Gus can do so much better than him. But one little kiss on top of the Ferris Wheel changes both their lives. But are those changes good or bad or possibly a little of both?
Traveling along with these three as the storyline unfolded was an emotional treat. Kudos to the author for a great addition to the Good Guys Series. I highly recommend Magic Man and give it 2 Thumbs Up and 5 Amazing Stars.
LOVED, LOVED, LOVED!!
I could not wait for this book!!
It had everything I needed and more.
These good guys keep getting better and better.
We first met Jay in Dropout (book 3). He wasn’t making the best decisions and needed some serious redeeming. The author did not disappoint!
I’m amazed at how quickly I fell for these characters. By the end of the prologue , I already loved Jay.
By the end of chapter one, I already cared for Casey and wanted to be her best friend.
This story, so beautifully written, held me captive the entire time. I wanted to crawl into the pages and be there.
I wanted to share that recliner with Jay.
I wanted to feed him that funnel cake.
I wanted to ride the ferris wheel with him.
I wanted him to love MY knees.
The way he cares for Casey’s son, Gus is heartwarming.
The love he has for Casey is fierce.
His protectiveness of her and Gus was downright swoonworthy.
The way he wants to right all his wrongs and make better choices is admirable.
And the dirty talking??
All the tingles.
Yes. Please.
During many of the scenes, Gus pretty much stole the show. His adorableness grabbed ahold of my heart and squeezed and made me want to kiss his little face. He’s a perfect character for this story. LOVED him!
This story has all the feels I love in a well-written book. It’s full of struggles and happiness and accomplishments and heartbreak and sadness and feel-good moments and swoony heart flutters and so much passion!
This comes highly recommended by me.
Do the other books in the series need to be read first to love this book? No.
Do I think you should read the other books? Yes. They’re equally awesome.
Jay is yet another good guy making me want to be a very bad girl.
5 wonderful stars!!
This is another “Good Guy” novel and I think it may be my favorite!! This can be read as a stand alone.
Casey~ I’m just a young soon to be mom trying to make a change. But I will never forget the mysterious “Magic Man”…
Jay~ I knew the minute I saw her that I will never forget her. Too bad I’m a junkie about to go to the slammer…
Omg I love this book. First of all, junkie or not Jay is my absolute favorite!! Casey is one kick ass mom. And these two together?!?! Brilliant!!
This is life. This is relatable. This is real. I felt this. I may not have lived this exact life but everyone has experienced something similar to what these two went through. Who doesn’t love a book that is so damn real?!!!
Jay is amazing. Funny. Magical. Sexy. Selfless. Perfect. Did I mention hot?!?! I think he is the ultimate good guy. Him and Gus is beautiful. Gus is so damn cute. And bravo to these two for embracing all that Gus is and just let him be him.
This author wrote a easy flowing book, that had some real life problems, lots of laughs, great characters (great to see Jimmy and MacKenna again), and a HEA. This is a quick read and one you will not want to put down!!
**I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book.**
Jay freaking Langston!
Jay brought all the feels out! And you can’t help but love Casey.
Casey is a single mom getting by the best way she can. When Jay shows up unexpectedly again she can’t help but be pulled to him.
Jay is out of prison and getting back on his feet. But Casey, a girl from his past, has been on his mind. The pull he has towards Casey and her son is sweet to read.
I loved this.
“You think I’m the one with the magic? You’re wrong. You’ve got all the power in the world. You make me believe things I’ve never been brave enough to hope for.”
With writing like this, you can’t help but love this book!
Magic Man is the newest addition to The Good Guys series by Jamie Schlosser. Of course, this is the first book I’ve read of this series but I loved it so much that I already have purchased the previous books in the series and plan to start at the beginning. Each book can be read as a stand alone.
Casey Maxwell didn’t plan to follow in her mother’s footsteps and end up pregnant at sixteen years old. But she fell for a smooth talking bad boy who was now in prison. Now at age eighteen, she has a toddler, a job at the diner, and is barely keeping her head above water. Still, if she could do it all over again, she wouldn’t change a thing because she loves her little Gus with all her heart. She’s determined to be the best mom possible.
“There was something about Jay that made me feel safe. There was so much kindness in his eyes.”
Jay Langston admits he made bad choices. Choices that he has paid for. He now has a record as a convicted felon. The only job he’s been able to find since he got out is as a magician for the local carnival. It seems no one wants to hire a man with a record. He first saw Casey right before he got arrested. He thought about her every day he was in prison. He knew she was pregnant, knew who the loser father was. He also knew he could never be good enough for her. But that didn’t keep him from watching her, dreaming of her. Jay can only go so long before he gives in to his addiction to Casey and they meet. She remembers him and seems drawn to him. But Jay knows he could never be the right man for her, for her son. They deserve so much more.
“How many good deeds would I have to do before I felt like I’d made up for my past? I didn’t know the answer, but at least I was one step closer to redemption.”
Jay and Casey fill a void for each other. Jay reminds Casey how to be more than just Gus’s mom. And Casey helps Jay to find a peace he hadn’t felt for so long. She gives him hope that somehow he is worth redemption.
“She made the impossible my reality.”
“The highest high didn’t compare to the euphoria of being with the love of my life.”
This was such a wonderful book. It was filled with so much hope. You couldn’t help but to love these two. They’d both been given such unfair circumstances in their lives. Casey’s optimism, drive, and faith were so amazing. Still, the road isn’t going to be an easy one for either of them. Jay clearly worshiped Casey. But he had such a struggle with his own self worth. I have to say, though, that I loved the dirty talking, sexy side to him. I loved the bond that formed between he and Gus as well. Don’t even get me started on this adorable little boy.
I so enjoyed going on this journey with this little family. As I said, I plan to go back to the beginning of the series. You can purchase the books individually or there is also The Good Guys Box Set which has the first three books plus a novella which is what I got. Now, every time I see a magician do a magic trick, I’m going to think of Jay and this book.
Gosh what a great book! Casey is a single mom doing the best she can trying to raise her son. Money is tight and things aren’t easy but I admired her positive attitude and the love she has for her son is palpable. Jay is a reformed felon who’s not sure he’s worthy of Casey and her son Gus. This is a heart warming story with not a lot of angst or drama. I love books like this….realistic story with great characters and a HEA!
What a read! This story is full of heart and demonstrates a fierce protectiveness that makes me melt.
Casey is an AMAZING young mom that has a resiliency that is so impressive. Her love for her baby boy is so beautiful. She is living a life of poverty and hard work.
Jay is an amazing shining star to this already emotional story. His feelings of unworthiness break my heart. He has done his time and owns the choices of his youth. When he returns, how he quietly watches over Casey and her son is wonderful.
I love these two together and the sweet baby that ties them together in their dedication to creating a better life. It isn’t an easy road and insecurities interfere on several occasions.
I am still experiencing all the feels of this read. This book truly is about a good guy even if he doesn’t identify himself as such. He truly is magic in so many ways.
Magic Man is five star worthy and a touching addition to The Good Guys Series. Happy Reading Everyone! XOXO
Best I have read to date by Jamie Schlosser! Seriously didn’t think anything would top Dropout, but I was wrong! Casey was so strong and independent,Jay was so caring and protective, and little “dewey” (jewelry) obsessed Gus stole my heart! All the Good Guys series are great, hope there will be many more to come!
