Having retreated to her western Washington hometown after a scandal left her career in ruins, child psychiatrist Dr. Julia Cates is determined to free the extraordinary little girl she calls Alice from a prison of unimaginable fear and isolation. To reach her, Julia must discover the truth about Alice’s past—although doing so requires help from Julia’s estranged sister, a local police officer. Another great book from Kristin Hannah!
I cried my way through this book, but a great read.
Second time reading it.
Hard to put this book down! Very heartfelt story and struggled with the child’s story.
I thought this was a wonderful book I throughly enjoyed it. I was not predictable at all.
The characters learn to rise above their flaws. While the author, weaves a warm hearted with a surprise twist. The attention to details is accurate and the descriptions of the Pacific Northwest is breathtaking realistic. Warming and inspirational without religion.
I absolutely loved this book. I couldn’t put it down, till the end. Even then, I wished there was the next one for this story. I was so, so good!!!
This is one of the best books I have ever read and have recommended it to many of my friends. What an interesting plot.
Great story. I had to stop myself from skipping ahead to see what happened. Probably not the most realistic book but still a good story.
Mystery of a little girl found on the edge of the woods in state of Washington. Could not put it down – excellent story!!
I really didn’t want this book to end, it was so suspenseful & just the right amount of characters. It gives you such an insight on how important nurturing, teaching, trust & love throughout a child’s life is the utmost need that you can give him or her
A page turning, well written story that kept me curious till the end.
Love her books. Always a great read !!
Fascinating story of a psychiatrist and a wild child. The reader follows the development and civilizing of a child reared without language, socialization, love, or human touch.
One of my favorite authors
It was just okay. Great fan of Kristen Hannah but this book was a little far out for me.
Knowing the author’s work, I chose it expecting to be engaged, as indeed I was to the lovely end.
Not as good as some of Kristen Hannah’s books but better than others.
This book made me sad at times, happy at other times. It was a interesting story and I guess it could have happened, and might very well have happened! I have never read a book anything like it! The characters are wonderful and memorable. The reading is easy to follow and holds your interest. I like Kristin Hannah’s way of writing!!!!
Loved this Kritin Hannah book almost as much as The Nightingale!
