From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Nightingale and The Great Alone comes an incandescent story about the resilience of the human spirit, the triumph of hope, and the meaning of home. In the rugged Pacific Northwest lies the Olympic National Forest—nearly a million acres of impenetrable darkness and impossible beauty. From deep within this old growth forest, a six-year-old girl … deep within this old growth forest, a six-year-old girl appears. Speechless and alone, she offers no clue as to her identity, no hint of her past.
Having retreated to her western Washington hometown after a scandal left her career in ruins, child psychiatrist Dr. Julia Cates is determined to free the extraordinary little girl she calls Alice from a prison of unimaginable fear and isolation. To reach her, Julia must discover the truth about Alice’s past—although doing so requires help from Julia’s estranged sister, a local police officer. The shocking facts of Alice’s life test the limits of Julia’s faith and strength, even as she struggles to make a home for Alice—and for herself.

As all her books are full of tender but strong characters.
Another good Kristen Hannah book. Good story, well written.
Easy read
There are so many intriguing books to read by wonderfully talented new authors, but sometimes I simply want to go back to an old favorite. Kristin Hannah is one of those for me. Magic Hour was originally published in 2006.
The writing style felt simpler, leaner but no less compelling than her current stories. Once again we’re in the Pacific …
Loved it
I’ll read anything by Kristin Hannah. I don’t know how this one got by me.
I liked this book and it was somewhat compelling. The creative premise which drives the action was intriguing. I would not put it on par with The Nightingale by the same author, but I did want to keep reading it. It was engrossing but towards the end it became rather predictable .
This book was great! Heart wrenching, moving and triumphant!
Didn’t want the book to end!
I love books before Imeetyou Iplay On The Times.
Kristen Hannah never fails.
The characters stay with you. The situation is so unusual that you want to see how it could be resolved. Several plot twists along the way. The struggle of working with children and being patient as they grow.
Great writing, good story
Definitely a page turner for me. Could not see where the story would lead. Good read.
I love Kristen Hannah’s books
Love the writing. When I feel like I’m watching a book unfold, it brings me great joy and satisfaction.
I immediately connected with the main character. An emotional and heartfelt story.
I have to be honest, most of my book purchases are the free, debut authors but every once in a while I like to purchase a book from a best selling author. This is a great story, with well thought out characters. I also love a book without any typos or grammar errors. 🙂
I love everything she writes a great author
It’s the 4th 0r 5th Kristin Hannah book I’ve read. She is the master of surprise endings! Another real page-turner.
