Another fantastic read. This is the second book for Lucian and Amelia’s story and holy cow was it so good. One of my new favorite series by far. I cannot get enough of these two. Cannot wait to read the last book!
I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.
Good Read, BUT-
Not as exciting or exhilarating as the first book, but it was good background on Amelia and Luc’s pasts. Too much repetitive musings throughout. I picked it up and put it down several times. On to book 3
4 Cranky Stars
Amelia had a privileged childhood she was all set to go to a good ballet school and become a prima ballerina. She had her whole life planned ahead of her, first she would dance with a troupe and at 25 she would teach at a school with the end being she owned her own school. Then one day her life came crashing down, her mother had been shot down the docks in crossfire between police and the mafia. She couldn’t understand what she was even doing down the docks. Everything started to slot together when she realised her father was a mafia boss. She had to get away she wanted no part of it, so she changed states and changed her last name and became a cop. Her father over the years always kept a close eye on her as he knew that someone was after her. Luc was sent in as an undercover cop to keep her safe and try to persuade her to come home. He was discovered as being one of the mafia and had to make a run for it, but in the time together they had fallen in love. Even knowing what he was she could not help but dream about him. They met up again and he persuaded her to go back to Chicago with him as her father was dying. She got a lot of questions answered and knew she could not go back to her life of being a copper. A very tangled tale and enjoyable book.
3.5 Stars
For me this one didn’t pack the same punch that the first book did. There seemed to be alot of unnecessary dialogue going over the same ground several times. The author is slowly putting the pieces in place for the reader. There is still the drama and suspense you expect in a Mafia book. I wasn’t a fan of Luc so readily showing his emotions where Amelia was concerned it takes away part of his mystique as the ruthless Don in training. As more secrets are revealed how far will Amelie be pulled back into the Family.

: 3.75 stars– MAFIA SCARS is the second instalment in Khardine Gray’s contemporary, adult THE ACCIDENTAL MAFIA QUEEN mafia, erotic, romance trilogy focusing on twenty-eight year old, LAPD Detective Amelia ‘Taylor’ Rossi, and thirty-five year old, Rossi Family mobster Lucian ‘Smith’ Morientz. MAFIA SCARS should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately following the events of book one MAFIA BOSS.
SOME BACKGROUND: Approximately eleven years earlier Amelia Rossi ran from Chicago after discovering the truth about her father Don Raphael Rossi. Now a dedicated police detective with the LAPD Amelia will come face to face with her future in the guise of Luc Smith aka Lucian Morientz, the new heir to her father’s crime family, and the man sent to bring the prodigal daughter, back home.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Luc and Amelia) MAFIA SCARS continues to follow the building relationship and romance between twenty-eight year old, LAPD Detective Amelia ‘Taylor’ Rossi, and thirty-five year old, Rossi Family mobster Lucian ‘Smith’ Morientz. Having discovered Luc’s real identity, and his connection to her father, Amelia finds herself battling between head and heart knowing her own life is about to spiral out of control. With a rat in the department, Amelia’s life hangs in the balance but our heroine is determined to remain on the force regardless of the possibility that someone has placed a target on her back. Unaware of the true nature of the threats against her life. Amelia is oblivious to the men assigned to protect her from harm. What ensues is Amelia’s struggle to remain separate from the business back home, and Lucian’s need to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love.
MAFIA SCARS focuses on the threats to our story line heroine: some of the background history and events leading to the present day, as well as the family connections to everyone involved. The relationship between Luc and Amelia takes a bit of hit but neither one can imagine life without the other. The premise is engaging and captivating: the romance is hot and heavy; the characters are numerous and energetic as the past comes full circle in its’ need for revenge. MAFIA SCARS is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance; family, blood and forgiveness.
By one of my all time favorite authors! Must read if you love mafia romances
These cliffhangers will be the death of me. I couldn’t wait for this book to come out and now I have to wait again. But, it is so worth waiting for. You think you know what is going on but then you are thrown a curve and gasp and you know nothing. Amelia is finally learning what happened in her youth and coming to terms with who she is and finding her inner strength. She is woman to be reckoned with and her connection with Luc is staggering. You can feel the fireworks going off when you read about the two of them. I cannot wait for more.
I read and reviewed a copy of this book.
Ms. Grey brings her A game again. For some reason I missed book 1 and will go back to read it. I was still able to pick-up on what was going on despite not reading Book 1. The plot was explosive and entertaining. I couldn’t put it down once I started reading!!! I loved the characters. I thought they were well-developed and easily relalable. Chemistry was off the charts hot! I can’t wait to read book 3 and see how this all ends!!!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book….
Heart wrenchingly emotional, filled with hope for resolution
Mafia Scars by Khardine Gray is an exceptionally well written book. The second in this series, continues Amelia and Luc’s story. While highly emotional, there’s also pulse pounding suspense and the urgency of danger.
I love how this author is pulling the plot, mystery and suspense together, giving the reader just enough detail to keep you on the edge of your seat and clamoring for more. Additionally, Luc and Amelia are dynamite together and each encounter is combustible, almost magical. They clearly have a deep connection.
Overall an enthralling installment of this series that will ensure the reader is hooked and ready for their eventual HEA.
I read an ARC of this book and voluntarily share my review.
Wow! Khardine Gray really amps things up in this second installment of her Accidental Mafia Queen Series. While the first book captured my interest, this second one held on and left me wanting more!
This one picks right up where the first book leaves off, so if you haven’t read book one, stop now and go read that one first.
Amelia is left reeling after discovering the truth about Luc, but she knows that she can no longer deny how she feels about him. She doesn’t know who to trust in her department because of the secret informant, and she is also dealing with the knowledge that her father is dying. Once Luc makes a reappearance in Amelia’s life, the tension and action in the story skyrockets and keeps you right on the edge of your seat. Even when the story’s action slows, there is always the underlying danger right there- waiting…
I loved how this story managed to be both fast and nerve-wracking, and slow and sweet. There were some very tender scenes between Luc and Amelia- days where they spent time just being “normal” and revealing their true selves to each other. Their characters keep getting deeper, and I really enjoyed actually getting to see inside each of them. There were a few scenes between Amelia and her father Rafael that had me actually tearing up! My one issue is that the main villain Victor is written as so over-the-top evil that he appears to be a bit out of place.
Be advised… this one also ends on a wicked cliffhanger. I can’t wait to see how this story will end!
I received an ARC of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
** spoiler alert ** ***Read in order***
Amelia must decide whether to trust Luc or not.
I loved how this book drew us further into the reasoning behind the attacks on Amelia. I loved how determined both characters were to protect the other and work together. I didn’t blame Amelia for her thinking, but was happy when she started to see the grey areas and that not everything was black and white. Good read and cannot wait to read the last one in this series!
Wow! The second book does not disappoint! Lucian and Amelia’s story continues as Amelia begins to realize that deep down she really is Amelia Rossi, and she really is in love with Luc. She knows who he truly is, and try as he may to protect her no one is Save with the psycho loose. After almost losing her life she flees back to Chicago, to Luc and her father. Watching her evolve into a more fierce take charge woman who takes no prisoners is fantastic and I loved how she and Luc become so much more….is just so good!
This series continues with a great second book.
Amelia and Luc continue developing their relationship into so much more through the lies, their past, future and family history.
However, a mutual enemy is Victor!! He is one evil, sick bad guy of the worst possible way!! But Victor has orders to bring Amelia back to Chicago “unharmed”, will he accomplish his goal? Or will Luc get to her in time?
As the story continues, Luc and Amelia discover there is a mole in the police department and someone close to Raphael is a rat and sharing important information with their enemies!! I think it’s the nanny who is the rat!!! I can’t wait for the next book to find out the answers and missing pieces!! This story grabs you and doesn’t let you go!!! A definite must read!! I received an ARC of this book from the author.
AN ENTICING and entertaining Mafia Romance! STEAMY and PHENOMENALLY well-written MUST-BUY!
“MAFIA SCARS” by Khardine Gray is the outstanding second installment of her ACCIDENTAL MAFIA QUEEN Trilogy. A romance that readers SHOULD NOT MISS! The characters readers met in “MAFIA BOSS” continue and are just as incredible, realistic and richly developed. I love it when I hate to leave treasured book-friends at a novel’s end, but I love it when they remain true to memory in the next instalment! Even better, this second part to Gray’s MAFIA story came quickly enough that I remembered the cast of characters completely. While the blurb does a fabulous job of describing some of the plot, it does not convey the richness of author Gray’s descriptive prose. The story author Gray weaves within the pages of “MAFIA SCARS” not only captivated my imagination but had me feeling emotionally bereft as well as the novel ended. (With part three only a week away, and already offered as a pre-order!) I became so deeply invested in the characters and in the storyline, that when it ended, all I wanted to do was scream, “Nooooooooooooo!” I did not want to see this novel end, and certainly not with that surprise . . . (Some might call it a cliff – but this one felt like an interruption.) As I read, know that I laughed, cried, jumped for joy and deeply felt all of the characters’ emotions as if they were my own. Not as eloquent as this author, I am finding it difficult to find the words that could possibly pay homage to this work of art. So, I will STRONGLY suggest that anyone who likes to read romance and is looking for a great read, “MAFIA SCARS” is the MUST-BUY for you! Doesn’t matter if you like bad boys or the Mafia trope, Khardine Gray’s “MAFIA SCARS” is the novel to buy. And the best news of all for readers: There is more to come . . . I voluntarily read a copy of “MAFIA SCARS” and this is my honest and voluntary 5+STAR review. Get your copy of “MAFIA SCARS” today! Happy pages!
Mafia Scars is book 2 in the Accidental Mafia Queen series. Luc and Amelia’s story continues w/danger, twists and suspense. Couldn’t put it down. Ends in a cliffhanger – can’t wait for Mafia Love.
Oh Ms. Gray… How could you leave us hanging like this? Only kidding. Ms. Khardine Gray has absolutely nailed the angst, drama and intrigue of a Mafia romance. My goodness, the creation of this series is something you seek when looking for a superb storyline with the characters to match and if I was able to; I’d pat her on the back and then beg her to keep writing. Lol. I do not want to give away any part of the plot, however, I can ABSOLUTELY guarantee nothing but the best heartpounding goodness is inside this incredible installment to this series. Captivating book right here. Amelia has not only been found but is threatened. If you love raw emotions, chemistry, heartpounding action, twists and turns that will keep you completely enthralled then you will find it right here. Ms. Gray is at the top of her craft with this impressive release. Follow along as Luc and Amelia as well as the ‘Family’ in Chicago blow you away.
I was beyond fortunate to have requested an advanced reader’s copy of Mafia Scars in exchange for my honest opinion and I highly recommend reading this book as well as the entire Series. I can not wait to see what is next for this series and to read just how it will play out.
SINFULLY DELICIOUS!!!
OMG! Talk about riding reckless. If you like living on the edge with a plethora of events, emotions and intense cravings, congrats my friends you’ve found it. Twisted, twinned and put through the wringer as you watch totally frozen to your seat, holding your breath waiting for the other shoe to drop. Drop it did. One action packed, hard hitting, fast paced, heart pounding, pulse racing, page turning dynamo that demands your undivided attention and you follow willingly. All the drama, uncertainty, fear, danger and suspense builds as tension spirals bringing this bad boy roaring to life beautifully. Twists and turns, ups and downs, along with a few hitches, bumps and bruises that rock this read with every word. Following the characters along witnessing their personalities transform and blend. The characters were so realistic, intriguing and complex with a undeniable connection between the two main characters. Talk about off the charts chemistry so intense it’s palpable. The scenes were so vividly detailed and descriptive it gives the illusion you were right there in ground zero with them. Khardine didn’t skip a beat bringing this bad boy together perfectly. Remarkable job Khardine, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
The suspense and intrigue continues as Lucian and Amelia carve their path. When all is said and done enemies will become friends with the reversal of friends to enemies. Luc is on a path that could cause him Amelia and Amelia has found out about what happened when she was a child. Will these two stand a chance or will the drama around them be their downfall? I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
I have no words. The story flies along at a breakneck pace throwing out secrets and revelations as if they were Mardi Gras beads. There’s a lot of them, ladies and gentlemen. They’re all important and most of them have been kept hidden for decades. None of my pet theories after the first book came anywhere close to what we learn here. In the midst of all this chaos, Amelia and Luc have to come to terms with what they want out of their lives going forward; how to be good people when caught in a bad situation. I’m dying to see what the conclusion brings us.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
This series will keep you on the edge of your seat. Amelia and Luc’s relationship continues to grow and they learn more of each other’s past history. Victor is one really sick bad guy who is still after Amelia and trying to figure out what he can get away with doing to her and still fulfill his order to capture her and turn her over unharmed. And it turns out that not only was there a mole in the police department, but someone close to Raphael tipped off Tag as to what Raphael did on the day his wife and Tag’s sons died. I can’t wait for the final book to get all of the missing answers.
