Unpredictable and Sexy Romance
This series is like opening a bag of chips or your favorite treat. You know you shouldn’t eat them all in one sitting but it is nearly impossible to tear yourself away and wait to indulge in more at a later time. Ivy’s characters are exceptionally flawed and complex, confused and in pain but the way they move forward and preserve in the face of all the adversity and pain the world has trust at them is inspiring. Summer is a conflicted and emotionally broken protagonist who doesn’t seem to know her own mind and heart as she bounces back and forth between three very sexy male characters who all want to rescue her and have her to themselves, but they like Summer are also conflicted and flawed which makes for a very unpredictable storyline and I have no idea where it will end but in my heart I know who I want her to end up with and that I really want a happily ever after for Summer. I would say this series is a great rainy weekend alone indulgence.
Such an emotional rollercoaster and loved it all!
Summer had gone. Scrubbed out, erased, forgotten. All but for a single memento. A reminder of the worst and best night of her life. Becoming Sadie was bad enough, but when her path crossed with the one person she could never forget her new start is in jeopardy. She had one instruction, to call if she saw anyone from her past, so why wouldn’t her finger press the button when Miles smiled her? He was the first boy she loved, the man she once thought she would marry, the boy who broke her heart and forgot about her when she needed him most. She has to stay hidden, but the way he looks at her makes her feel seen. But a darkness has followed her to New York. To reveal herself would be to put the lives of those she loves in jeopardy. Can she really start over with her past so close?
Made of Steel by Ivy Smoak is a gripping romance about a young woman forced into witness protection only to find the one person she has been missing most of her life. The absolute worst thing about this book was my decision to open it at bedtime thinking I could just read for an hour. Boy was I was wrong. Not only couldn’t I sleep until I finished, but I was also so emotionally charged reading it I struggled to sleep. The cliff hanger ending meant I had to pick up book two, and trust me when I say it took a hell of a resolve not to start reading it at 4am. This book is impeccably written and you can’t help but become invested in the characters, especially Sadie as she learns to trust and embrace her new life. Action, romance, heartbreak, and danger combine in an addictive combination that leaves you needing more. This book certainly earned a place on my recommended books list.
I enjoyed the storyline, but was a little disapointed that there wasn’t a conclusion until the third book.
This entire series I could not put down for a second. I lost sleep over this book!
Didn’t finish this book was part 1 of a series. It was interesting what I did read about a young lady who entered into the foster care system then witness protection
You have to read all three books in the series to get a resolution. The premise is far fetched, but I did want to finish, so I’d know how it turned out. I also thought the subject of sexual assault should have been handled more sensitively and with more attention given to the trauma it causes.
I loved this book so much. Wow.
Interesting premise. Didn’t love that it was part of a three book series.
Loved this series and this was my favorite series until I read Empire High also by Ivy Smoak! This series made me laugh, cry, and feel emotions I didn’t know existed.. Absolutely amazing writing that you forgot that you’re reading and you feel like you’re there with the characters! I highly recommend this series! Loved Loved Loved

Made of Steel by Ivy Smoak is book one of the Made of Steel series.
As far as the story goes, I’m REALLY trying to get into it… but it’s been difficult.
The female protagonist Summer/Sadie is just so… honestly, I don’t have a word to describe her but the girl just can not make up her mind and all the back and forth is driving me absolutely crazy.
There are enough unanswered questions that I’m going to go ahead and begin the next book and see how things go. Like we still have no idea who the masked vigilante is and although I have my suspicions I’d really like to find out for sure but I’m really hoping the story becomes a bit more clearer.
It’s almost like the author has tried to throw in a few too many genres in one book, a severely abused female protagonist, a love triangle, a second chance romance, and then a little mafia action on the side. It’s just a little too much going on and that makes it hard to keep up with the story.
Now, as far as the audio, now that I’ve listened to quite a few reads, I know a bit more about what exactly I’M looking for. Hart did a great job at differentiating the female and male voices BUT there were a couple of male characters with dialogue and those voices were very similar. If I drifted off from the book for a few minutes I would need to rewind or really listen to figure out which male character the dialogue was coming from. I did like the way she changed her tone during emotional dialogue when the character was upset, it was almost like her voice shook. I could really FEEL the emotion she was putting into the scene. I’m interested to see how things go in book two, Forged in Flames.
Made Of Steel was an ALL CONSUMING, ADDICTIVE AS HELL READ THAT I COULDN’T PUT DOWN! So many unbelievably edge worthy twists, and heart wrenching scenes and sizzling white hot heat that managed to keep me up at night and had me thinking about this book non-stope!
I can’t even begin to tell you how epic I thought this book was. It was breathtaking, shocking, and had The Arrow (a TV series I was downright infatuated with!) like feel to it that was in book form that was intriguing as all get out! The story was well developed, thought out and the mysterious V had me very much obsessed. WOOOOOW!
Made Of Steel gets a MYSTERIOUS FIVE STUNNING STARS!
This story was addicting! The suspense and mystery were on point with this one.
Summer/Sadie has gone through tragedy and heartbreak since the night of the accident. Losing all those she loves and holds dear each step of the way. Finally being able to settle down someplace might not have been the best idea. No one is whom they appear to be. ‘Safe’ may not be so safe.
That cliffhanger just opened up a can of worms…
Acquired free on Amazon. Quick moving suspenseful and action packed. Great mix of characters. What do you do when your life is a lie and your in danger. Who do you trust? Wouldn’t want to be on Summer/Sadie’s shoes. Ivy I have to say I hate cliffhangers but you got me hook line and sinker. You win I purchased the next two.
Cliffhanger book one and two have no ending and will never know what happens because I won’t be getting book three. The two books was whiny and very repetitive. Would not recommend.
This story is amazing! This is the kind of book you have to read twice, I mean immediately after you finish reading it because oh, my god, how did you miss who is behind the betrayal?!?
Summer started about a pretty little eight-year-old redhead who crushed on the little boy next door. After a tragic accident, she lost her parents, moved in with her grandma who later passed after that foster system and witness protection. I wouldn’t go into too many details because I am not one hundred percent sure if I can even explain any of it if I wanted.
I have to say the author did an amazing job putting the world and the characters together so well. I mean for a while there I thought I was going a little crazy just from reading. Starts out all innocent and stuff then all hell hits the fan. I am really not sure if what I read was just because of Summers mental start or if its the actual story.
5 STARS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow so I thought when I got his book for free off amazon that is wasn’t going to be that great . Boy was I wrong . This story pulled me in from page one.
Summer/ Sadie has had a tragic life . One bad thing happened after another , leading up to the horrible event that puts her in the Witness Protection Program. She is starting a new life far away from her old one. Yet she will never truly get over everything that has happened to her. Miles was her childhood friend who she loved more than anything . Now years later she hasn’t talked too or seen him in years , yet she still remembers everything about him and looking at the stars.
Now she is in NYC going to college and has meet Eli someone who she thinks she can learn to love . She has also meet the Vigilante /”v” who maybe there to protect her , but who is he really.
Just when she is trying to move on with her life and forget her past in walks her past, Miles or an someone who is after her. Miles doesn’t know who she really is he thinks she is just someone who reminds him of Summer .
Sadie/Summer learns that nothing is really as it seems , someone is after her , someone is protecting her but who is who.
Ok y’all this book had me so captivated I could not put it down. I finished it in a few hours. I loved it so much. I even loved the cliffhanger , really who doesn’t love a good cliffy and this one is awesome. Ivy Smoak has this way about writing that pulls the reader in and you wont stop thinking about the story until the very end. I have so many theories on who “V” really is , is Eli who he seems to be or is there more to him . All I want is answers but I am loving every page along the way.
Made of Steel reminds me of Arrow (one of my absolute favorite shows) and is suspenseful, well written and will keep you on the edge of your seat, not to mention make you want to throw your Kindle across the room after reading the big cliffhanger at the end.
Summer is a happy go lucky 8 year old girl whose best friend (and the boy she loves) lives next door. Miles is the boy Summer loves and she has her life planned out around him. Her parents are killed in a car accident, though, and she’s sent to live with her Grandma, 4 hours away from Miles and her old home. She and Miles keep writing to each other, even after her Grandma dies and she’s sent into foster care. She knows she loves him even though she hasn’t seen him in years. When she’s 13, though, Miles stops writing to her. It breaks her heart and she never forgets him.
10 years after Summer lost her parents, she’s a whole new person with a new name, Sadie, and a new personality thanks to her evil former foster father, whom she has put in jail after he abused her horribly. Her WITSEC handler has enrolled her in college in New York, and it’s here she’ll make new friends like Kinsley, her roommate, and Eli, her sort of boyfriend/friend. And she’ll run into old friends like Miles, who thinks she reminds him of Summer, and who just happens to be her new dorm’s RA. And then there’s the New York vigilante, who takes a special interest in her (and vice versa).
All these new (and old) people in her life that Sadie has come to care about, but she’s starting to feel like she’s going crazy. Suddenly she’s not sure whom she can trust. Someone’s playing a huge game with her and it’s freaking her out (and even puts her in the hospital once). Ivy has really upped the intrigue in her latest story. I love it! It’s well written like her Hunted series, but it’s got less heat and way more suspense. I can’t wait for the next installment, I need answers now!
