Rich people in small towns can destroy lives though money and influence. It takes a strong person to come back and right a wrong.
When I began reading the oh-so–awesome Made in Paradise by the talented USA Today author Donna Fasano on my cell, I kept going until the phone felt hot in my hand. This is how fantastic this story plays out – quite simply, I couldn’t put it down – I even had to recharge my batteries, the ones in my brain and my phone.
Here’s the skinny: Made in Paradise begins with Dr. Amber Holloway returning to her hometown after her father Harry’s death, to sort through his belongings. While lost in reverie, Amber discovers her hardworking dad has some mighty big secrets – the monetary kind – which is a hard differential from the sacrifices he’d supposedly made on her behalf to put her through college with minimal expense to her.
Jumping Joseph! Who supplied Harry’s hidden stash of money? What kind of deal was involved to make him live like a beggar, when he had the means to live well? How will Amber feel when she eventually learns why he was paid such a large sum of cash?
During her time in Pine Meadow, NJ, Amber is flung back to the past, recalling her wrong side of town childhood, and subsequent love affair with Jon Weston, a high ender with wealth behind him – including parents who’ve planned the course of his adulthood, a future that sure doesn’t include this lovely young woman he’s fallen in love with.
Made in Paradise is a magnetic love story, filled with conspiracy and misunderstandings, but hey,
I usually never review and reveal, but here’s a hint – Oh, my good golly, there’s a child involved, a ten year old girl named Sydney, so loving and trusting, and Jon Weston is the daddy.
Is this the child Amber had been told was stillborn? How is she supposed to reconnect with a long lost daughter? Is Jon part of the conspiracy that kept Amber and her daughter estranged? If trust and forever love can bind this couple together, will the past dissipate enough for them to move forward as a family?
Ms. Fasano is a master storyteller. I LOVE it when convoluted chaos drives a story forward and life’s missing pieces neatly gel together to provide a happily ever after ending – Ms. Fasano’s offering was satisfyingly climatic.
Five sparkling stars awarded for this honey of a tale. Thank you, Ms. Fasano. A pleasure to have read this story, which is right up my tickle alley.
Really enjoyed reading this book..story was a little different kept my attention..not your normal love story..
Great story of first love and redemption.
Fast-paced, romantic, heartwarming, funny. Could not stop reading.
Reveals the extent some people will go to because of their prejudices.
I loved the idea of the book but it proved to be a bit predictable
Fun story! Great chemistry between the main characters and an overall fun story that is easy to follow and fun to read. Only issue is the ending, its a little too quick for my taste…in a matter of two paragraphs the two main characters go from hating each other to in love with a happily ever after. Other than that it is a great story!
Great read
Enjoyable read.
5 stars
I purchased a copy of the novella A Family Forever Novel Series book 2: Made in Paradise by Donna Fasano and this review was given freely.
Amber finds an odd bank account which places her back with single father Jon and the daughter she thought was still born 10 years ago. Well written, emotional, full of conflict but ultimately heartwarming.
It was a good book you will enjoy
It was very tragic for a mother to lose ten years of her daughters life but had a happy ending when they were found each other.
I enjoyed this book. I liked the mystery, adventure and the characters in this book.
Ok kind of juvenile
Great read was so good. I didn’t want to put it down.
Kept my interest. Read in 1 day
Sometimes well meaning parents can mess up the lives of their children.
That is the story of Jon and Amber and their daughter Sydney. He raised Sydney believing the worst of Amber who believed her daughter died at birth. Sydney loves them both, especially when she finds the mother she never knew she had. There are lots of misunderstandings but a happy ending.
Heartwarming! Wonderful story!
Was a very simple story. But was a great idea.
