Even though Maddox thought he wasn’t capable of love, he thought wrong. With the way he was briught up I could understand why he thought that. Maddox is capable of love and so much more after all he does love Bentley and Aiden like brothers. Up until he met Dee he hadn’t met the one for him. He realized that she was the one way before she was even ready to admit that she could feel more then she thought she ever could. Both Maddox and Dee thought that they could never fall in love… how wrong they were, they just needed to find the right person and with Bentley falling in love with Emmy and Aiden with Cami it was inevitable that they would be pushed together as a twosome whenever the six of them would go out anywhere. I thought that first Bentley owned a piece of my heart and then Aiden, but no I have to say that Maddox does.
Well, hello new top-spot book boyfriend! Based on books 1 & 2 in the BAM: Vested Interest series I did not see this one coming. Holy wow, Maddox! I adored Bentley, swooned over Aiden, but let’s say third time’s a charm and I’ll readily admit falling hard for Maddox. Infused with a powerful & well-developed plot, Maddox and Dee ignite the pages with passion, energy, and emotion. Having seen bits and pieces of them in books 1 & 2, I expected there to be an intense storyline, but I was not adequately prepared for the sheer amount of heat and angst in this book. And I loved every minute of it. No, I craved it! If you love a dirty talking hero who exudes authority and control, and resonate with a heroine who appears to have it all under control (but you know under it all, is really just as vulnerable and fragile as the rest of us), you are going to be completely smitten with this book. Moreland takes the plot and series aspect to a new level, seamlessly creating a tie-in to “The Contract” characters a well. And yes, you will experience a substantial book hangover, so prepare accordingly.
Another re-read and yes!!! This definitely still stands, although Aiden is a close second!
Dare I say it?! Yes I definitely do! Maddox is officially my favourite BAM man! There, I did it!! The Silver Fox has me in all kinds of knots.
All the characters in this series have taken a piece of my heart, I love the whole dynamics of the group. The closeness, the bond the guys share, spilling over to extend to their growing ‘family’.
Maddox and Dee set the ground rules to their ‘friendship’ but somewhere a long the way, the lines get inevitably blurred. My heart literally broke for both of them, would they be able to fix things before it’s too late?
Maddox…YUM. From the premature silver in his hair to his loyal, steadfast personality – just YUM. Maddox and Dee met through Emmy and Cami (from Bentley and Aiden’s story) and have a “friends with benefits” relationship, which is what both swear is the only thing they’re capable of. Maddox judges himself so harshly for things he did in college and desperately tries to right his perceived wrongs while trying to deny his feelings for Dee.
Dee has been damaged by both her parents relationship and a jerk from her past. She can’t put herself out there to be hurt again, no matter how amazing Maddox is. Watching their love story unfold is so sweet…I adore Maddox!!!
This is the third book in the Vested Interest Series. I recommend you to listen to this Series in order. I love these series with interconnected stories, and intertwined characters. Maddox and Dee’s story is beautifully written, emotional, sweet, funny, and sexy. Maddox is handsome, and secretive. Dee is a wonderful character, strong, but vulnerable, and independent. I loved to follow them in their journey to love. The supporting characters are amazing. I love BAM! These men are handsome! and I like the brotherhood, and the friendship in this Series. The narration is amazing! John Lane and Maxine Mitchell are perfect as Maddox and Dee. They have a great voice, very pleasant to listen to. Now, I am looking forward to listen to the next book in the Series, Reid. I love this Series, and I highly recommend it!
I wasn’t quite sure about this book when it began. I listened to the audio book. I started out being a little disappointed because it seemed like all Maddox and Dee did was have sex. I thought the narration was great.
The story started to pick up when Dee started to experience difficulties with the way Cami’s life was changing, and how it didn’t include her sometimes. I liked that Maddox and Dee grew closer and started to share more info about their pasts. I started to get a sense of the depth of their relationship and the issues that haunted each of them.
The next twist that made the story move along was a blast from Maddox’s past. The drama, the crazy, the angst was kicked up a notch. The frustration as Maddox attempted to make stupid moves and the surprising source of advice.
Let me not forget the cake tasting and the wedding planner. That whole scene was enjoyable.
I knew it wasn’t over. There was that one final slightly suspenseful twist. To top it off, I was so happy to get the awesome epilogue. (I am a sucker for a goid epilogue!)
A slow start to a book the became an Interesting, mildly angsty and suspenseful book that was full of love, loyalty, friendship, family, and romance.
Maddox: Vested Interest #3
Maddox has been my favorite of the three men who own BAM. I think his need for control is what caught me right from the beginning. I had my mind working, what was the reason behind this need. Could have been so many things. So when I read about his father and the childhood Maddox had it was totally understandable.
Then there is the grown man Maddox, the man who leans over and whispers the dirtiest thoughts in your ear, the man who buys you the sexiest underclothes ever and he does that because he knows he is going to rip them off of you, the man who pins your wrists together and while he is kissing different parts of you tells you exactly what he is going to do to you and you, you know he is going to do that and you know that you are going to enjoy the he** out of it!
I would like to think that Dee saw that part of Maddox when she saw him in his Bespoke suite with his sedate but killer ties, when she saw the way he could sport a vest and how a woman’s emotions got all, dear lord man touch me! I am sure that is what Dee saw in him and she saw his sensuality and she knew that was why she agreed to his rules for their liaisons. I certainly would take those rules any day!
Then slowly things started to change and although Maddox realized he was ready to leave the rules behind, Dee couldn’t she had reasons and she had fears and she had to protect herself.
So when Maddox’s past shows up and throws his whole world out of kilter and threatens not just his reputation but that of his friends and family, he closes himself off, makes decisions and talks to no one. He starts to distance himself until one night distance won’t work and someone gives him advice on how to deal with the situation, Maddox takes that advice. Sometimes though the advice comes to late and then you put yourself in a situation that ends up almost destroying you and your last lucid thought is your broken heart talking to you.
This book keeps you engaged, exactly why an author writes what they do to keep their reader engaged. Melanie Moreland paints the reader a story of a boy, who grows into a young adult and makes mistakes just like young adults are want to do. She moves that young adult with bold and vibrant words into a man who holds control close; using it the right way for any situation he deals with business or personal. She does the same with Dee, she gives us a strong heroine who has fought on her own for herself and her sister but has closed of parts of herself to prevent any further hurt.
I just loved this story! Bottom line loved the characters, the story line the intrigue, suspense, the emotions, the hurt, the caring and concern, everything that makes this story so darn good!
As with the first two stories in this series she treats the issues of depression and anxiety in the manner it deserves and making sure characters in the story seek the help and support they need.
Just finished 1-2-3 of BAM, loved the series, loved the characters.
Loved everything about these books.
Audiobook: Narrators – John Lane and Maxine Mitchell
Great representation of the characters. Each very distinctive, especially those BAM boys. I enjoyed listening to this and Mr. Lane’s voice is absolute perfection!
I loved getting Maddox’s full story. His past has left him with the need to be in control. He is also unlikely to give into emotions, except perhaps where Aiden and Bentley are concerned. But Dee sneaks into his life and eventually his heart and while he promised a friends with benefits type of arrangement to begin with, he’s soon trying to wriggle himself out of that and into something more with her.
This was an especially steamy read as compared to the previous two books, but it was perfect considering the relationship this couple initially agreed upon. I did feel that Dee’s character changed a bit out of character from how she was portrayed in the first two books, but I’m a lenient reader and just rolled with the flow.
The drama here is a combination of outside forces as well as the relationship between Maddox and Dee. They each have much to over come and watching them struggle to get to a good place was often heartbreaking, but the ending was absolutely beautiful.
With the addition of the fun times between the BAM boys, the intense chemistry between this couple and the additional suspense and drama this kept me
KU. I think this was probably my fav of the series so far, but not by much. The books are solid, the angst is fairly low and when it happens it doesn’t drag on forever. Maddox was great. Dee was a little annoying at times, but she had her reasons. She kinda felt like a female Aiden as far as “no love”, “no real relationship. I liked the info share spread out the whole book v the “info dump” in Aiden’s book, so that was nice.
The epilogue was adorable. And bumped this into solid 4 star category.
On to Reid’s story!
Loving this series so much!
Each book in this series keeps getting better! I’m a huge sucker for strong women and the sexy men who love and protect them! This series, and this book, ticks all the boxes for me! Add in the narrating excellence of John Lane and Maxine Mitchell and you’ve got yourself a winner!
Maddox was so achingly patient with Dee it was beautiful. Once he thought he didn’t believe in love and bam he fell head first for Dee in the short period of time they had known each other. A very well written love story.
Maddox is book three in the Vested Interest series by Melanie Moreland. I’ve been so looking forward to Maddox and Dee’s story. This was by far the steamiest of the first three books! And once again, Melanie starts this one out with a prologue that completely slayed me. Just a glimpse into the childhood of our dear Maddox and what made him the man he is today.
Maddox Riley is thirty years old, a couple of years younger than his two partners at BAM, Bentley and Aiden. Maddox is the numbers man of the trio. Numbers are easy to line up, to organize. In his life, his home and his office, Maddox needs to control everything. All is in it’s proper place, just like his numbers. Maddox doesn’t believe in love, in giving anyone else control over him. He learned that lesson the hard way. Maddox is also a bit of a silver fox, prematurely gray. Could he be any sexier?
Deirdre Anne Wilson, (Dee) is the older sister of Cami. Dee spent her life taking care of Cami. They were all each other had. Dee doesn’t believe in love either. She doesn’t feel she’s capable of the romantic kind of love.
When Maddox and Dee first met through Bentley and Emmy, there was an immediate spark, a strong attraction. In time, they gave in to the pull between them with the agreement that it was sex only. That neither of them ever wanted anything more. And give in they did. These two were off the charts hot. They were the exact fit for each other’s needs.
As their relationship progresses, Maddox begins to see the possibility of something more. That maybe it is finally time to let someone in. But would Dee ever feel the same way? I loved how he slowly worked his way around Dee’s boundaries! It was so adorable. But you know what happens just when you start to relax and think you’ve got this. Something from Maddox’s past comes back to haunt him and threatens everything he holds dear.
The Ridge Towers project is moving right along and it’s time to hire an advertising firm. And who do you think enters the picture here?! Melanie Moreland you are so sneaky. The Gavin Group, specifically our beloved Richard VanRyan, comes to Toronto to pitch their campaign. I was swooning all over the place. I love Richard and it was so amazing to get to see him again. He actually plays a pretty important role in this book!
Two other things I loved about this book. First, Aiden is hilarious. He’s happy and relaxed now with Cami. And that man can eat! He is constantly stuffing his face! It was so funny. Also, in every book we are getting to know Sandy better, the den mother so to speak of the group. She’s their administrative assistant but really is so much more. She takes care of these boys like they are her own. She’s the mother none of these men ever had. I love that woman.
Maddox’s book was everything I hoped it would be. I’m loving everything about this series. Next in book four, we get to know the newest addition to this group, Reid. I can’t wait to hear his story and see who he gives his heart to.
Maddox is the third book in the Vested Interest series. Can be read as a standalone, but why miss out on the other BAM (Bentley, Aiden, Maddox) guys. This story has supsense, drama, emotions and humor. The twists and turns, kept my turning the pages to find out what was going to happen. Maddox and Dee started out as friends, then it turned into friends with benefits, to so much more. They were so perfect for eachother.
Nothing like a silver fox!
I’m in love with this series, I think I’ve said it before. And with each book, I love it even more.
I was intrigued by Maddox by the very beginning! His stoic and introspective persona, but also hiding a great passion inside.
And he was even better than I expected it. Just like Aiden and Bentley, he had a rough past, and that molded him, but he made what he was, and he was a lot. He was, indeed, stoic and introspective. But he was also brilliant, caring, loyal and brave enough to face his past, get over his fears and admit his feelings.
Dee had a huge baggage as well. Having to grow up really early in her life, she became ceptic and wary of love. But what she hadn’t realized was that she already had so much love to give. She was nurturing, protective, always taking care of the ones she loved. But admiting it, was a whole other effort.
Together, Dee and Maddox had a rythim and pace of their own. A relantioship that worked for them. Inteleactually connected and with an off-the-charts chemistry, they matched perfectly.
That is, until they had to say their feelings out loud.
This story was about a new chance, it was about believing in love. It was about getting vulnerable and facing the past and giving out so much baggage so that the other person could have a room to live.
Because they both had so much to offer, they both had so much love inside. They were perfect for each other, they found something so rare, so deep, so pure, that most of us only dreams of ever finding.
And with the help of their friends/family, and from their willingness to love each other, they realize that their love could be even stronger than what they could ever imagine!
I couldn’t put this down! I wanted to SMACK Dee like five times but I was rooting for her like this was the Superbowl “COME ON YOU CAN DO IT!!!”
Maddox just melted me, I wanted to pick him up carry him away and bake him cookies and just hug him until Dee was ready to appreciate him.
Dee eventually comes around and proves she WAS worth the hassle and these two have loads of adventures in this light romantic suspense.
I love the BAM boys and laughed my ass off and swooned at their antics with each other and lady loves (as usual). This series has seriously sucked me in!
Now if I could only keep my husband from talking to me while I read and enjoy the next book uninterrupted *sigh*
I’ve enjoyed each book so far in this series, but I think this one was my favourite. My heart hurt for Maddox and his childhood. I know from personal experience how much a bad childhood can impact you as an adult. As an adult, things are definitely going well for him, but he’s not one to easily trust and he hasn’t been one for relationships, until he and Dee, (the older sister of Cami, from Aiden) hook up.
She’s determined to never fall in love, because she watched her mother fall apart when she was a child, due to being too dependent on someone, their father. All her life, she’s faced those she cared about leaving her, including her sister when she marries Aiden.
The relationship between her and Maddox is simple. Sex, unwind, but no emotions. Which works fine, until someone falls in love.
A series of dramas for Maddox and a return of someone toxic from his past, nearly destroys everything, including him. An enjoyable read. It was nice to catch up with the characters from previous books and to get a glimpse into Reid from the next book, which I’ll be starting next.

This is the third book in the Vested Interest series. Maddox and Deirdre were two souls who didn’t believe in love it eventually opened their hearts to eachother. I was always intrigued with Maddox’ character in the first 2 books. I’m glad he got his happy ending. I loved all the sexy talk, twists, humour in this book and I was pleased to see Richard VanRyan (the contract series) make an appearance. Melanie incorporated each character without taking Maddox’s story away from him. This is a cheesy series and may not seem all too realistic in terms of 3 bffs finding love with 2 bffs and a sister but I still enjoyed it ’cause i’m a sucker for HEAs! This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. I’m looking forward to the next book! Definitely check this series out.
Audiobook review:
Another one for the books. I love how hard Maddox and Dee had to work to get to their hea. The struggle to take the leap made their story so captivating. And Maxine and John killed their performance!
5 out of 5 stars
This was my favorite of the three novels in this series…maybe just because we got such a wonderful epilogue wrap up of all three stories that my heart melted a little! OR maybe because the story was so well crafted and engaging that I couldn’t help but want to read it at all times and find out just what would happen between Maddox and Dee.
Maddox always seemed a little more reserved than Aiden and Bentley. He definitely didn’t seem the type to be romantic or worth swooning over, but he changed just for Dee and it was so fun to watch. Sometimes when reading a series, you feel like the characters can’t really get any better – like you’ve already heard their story and they’re just in the background. That was so NOT the case with this series. All three guys in the BAM crew had significant roles in each story and I was very thankful for that as a reader.
The drama that came in this book was much more shocking than the others though it wasn’t unexpected. I just didn’t know how to handle it. The rift between the guys. The rift between Maddox and Dee. The heartache was so real. I felt it in my bones. I’m so glad I continue this series and I only wish there was more of these three…but Reid joined the crew in the first book and has made himself more invaluable with each additional book — and now I can’t wait to read his story this fall!
