Warning: Corked and Tapped is the name of the local neighborhood bar, though the patrons may argue it is far from ordinary. Be prepared for high heat, unapologetic exhibitionism, and a whole new level when it comes to “one-night stands.”Maddie“How many amaretto sours have you actually consumed?” The truth was she’s had very little to drink. She kept buying the damn things in order to flirt with … damn things in order to flirt with the mystery man behind the mask at the bar. He knew her. He knew her best friend. Who the hell was he? Intrigued and aroused from a night of flirting, she decided to take a chance on him.
Corked and Tapped: Because the best stories never start with someone eating a salad.

A quick & fun read.
Maddie has been in charge of the office meet & greet / Halloween party and her duties are almost over. This leaves her with a chance to get to know the mysterious Phantom of the Opera to her Christine. She’s been flirting with him all night but she doesn’t have a clue who he is. But she’s pretty sure her best friend, Clara, is behind this little set up so she feels safe with it.
This is the eighth book in the Corked and Tapped series and needs to read in the order it was written. I’m seriously loving this series and would love to go to this bar.
I received a free copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is sweet and sexy and hot and…..are there really words when the characters speak for themselves and you fall in love with them from nearly the first page? Maddie is Clara’s best friend and needs a man in her life that will treat her like a queen. She seemingly finds that man as a fluke during her company’s Halloween party. Little does she know the surprises and happiness that awaits with her mystery man!!!
Maddie is one long tease of a novella. It’s a story of seduction, as Maddie meets a mystery man at the Corked and Tapped bar on the night she’s running her company party. One of the gimmicks Maddie used to encourage coworkers to get to know new people at their firm was to have them dress in related costumes for this party and then have to find one another and talk. One of her coworkers turned the tables on Maddie, as her mystery man at the bar is dressed as the Phantom of the Opera to match her Christine costume.
This story is told entirely from Maddie’s point of view, and you’re immersed in her growing simmer of longing for her unknown admirer. The plot revolves around her attraction to him and her lack of awareness of who he is. And that led to the part of this story that bothered me. Maddie essentially goes off with this man for a one-night stand—he hasn’t promised her anything more—and she really doesn’t know who he is. Maddie not knowing him is the crux of the plot, but it still was a bit disturbing that she went to this anonymous man’s hotel room without any backup plan. (He says he knows her and a friend, only confirms the friend’s name after Maddie has said it—nothing here builds confidence that he is who he says he is.) I would have expected Maddie to set up a safety call, let a friend know what she was doing, or something else defensive.
But this book is one long, slow burn of intense attraction, and in that sense it’s easy to be swept away by the feelings that practically lift off the page. I just wish some practical protections had been wrapped around Maddie’s actions to give her a strong foundation on which to explore her unknown passion.
I loved how Maddie didn’t know her masked stranger yet he knew her and she still took a risk due to her attraction to him. This is a fun flirty and fabulous read and I loved the surprise of who her masked man was!!
So we learned quite a bit about the Phantom that matches Maddie’s Christine in the last book. Now finally we get to find out if this is a match made in Heaven or Hell.
Our Phantom is someone who knows Maddie, but she doesn’t recognize him. She’s pretty sure this is something her best friend Clara set up and she’s not sure how she feels about it. What she does know is she’s going to give this a chance.
Once Maddie returns to the bar and her Phantom, things heat up quickly. She also thinks there’s something familiar about the Phantom. The only reason she is going to agree to anything is because he definitely knows Clara and although she can’t remember he says he knows her too.
I love the way he keeps the mystery going right up to the extremely hot scenes.
I laughed, sniffled and had to hydrate from the heat coming off the pages.
I can’t wait to see what Becca comes up with for the next book in this series.
I’m loving this series of short standalone reads. You don’t have to put in hours & hours to get through the story & each story is just so fun. In this read, Maddie, who organised the costume party that featured in other books, finds her ‘matched character’ not in the costume party, but in the normal public area. Now, this would have given me a few stalker vibes, but Maddie is insanely attracted to this guy, even though she can’t see his face & doesn’t know who he is. But – he knows her. I’ll be honest, I had quite a few stalker, creepy moments through this story. But, having read the full story, I can see how & why the Phantom decided on that course of action. Great finish
Sweet, sexy, and yowzers…
I love it when the matchmaker gets matched and doesn’t realize it is happening until it is too late. Maddie has been setting up couples for the company party, she needs her match right. Dressed as Christine from Phantom of the Opera she just happens to run into someone dressed up as the Phantom. What are the chances? Is it fate or something else at work? Her Phantom is a mystery so I will not spoil it in this review. She doesn’t know who he is , but he claims to know her and that she does know him. The steam in this book is off the hook and just knowing that they know each other and he is taking all precautions to keep his identity hidden is a huge turn on. Hooked does not even begin to describe what this short story did to me. How about devoured? I did not want to put it down.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
This was a great book !
Maddie was the coordinator for the Christmas party.
She is dressed as “Christine” from the Phantom of the Opera.
When she saw the “Phantom” at the bar, she was intrigued.
She had taken a sabbatical from men, but the Phantom was a big temptation.
Will Maddie choose her sabbatical or her “Phantom” from the bar ?
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
What made you choose to dress as Christine from Phantom? Trisha asked. Maddie had intended for the party to serve as an icebreaker for the employees at Jacoby. You didn’t even assign yourself a match and you are the coordinator. Are you sure it’s just a coincidence that there is a phantom at the main bar here at Corked & Tapped? This is the very basic beginning to a wonderfully written suspenseful romantic mystery erotic thriller. I loved this and I voluntarily leave this review.
This quick and fun read was Book #8 in the “Corked and Tapped” series and this was a book that I really enjoyed! The plot was great and the wonderfully created characters had me totally captivated as each page was turned! I truly loved Maddie and Levi together and their interaction and HOT chemistry kept me turning the pages until the very end!
The matchmaker meets her match. The Halloween event that Maddie planned for her company has been a rousing success especially in the romance department. The only one without a match is Maddie or so she thought. A mystery Phantom seems to know all about her yet reveals nothing of himself. Dare she take take a walk on the wild side with this intriguing man?
Corked and Tapped Book 8. Maddie and Levi’s story! How sneaky can one’s best friend get! Well, I’m not sure what Maddie plans on saying to Clara, but if I were her, it would be… A thousand times, thank you! Getting with your crush after ten years… Maybe no man would compare to that dream of that one man. Wait until you find out the secrets Levi had! This book was hot and so very sweet at the same time! I loved it! I’m enjoying each of these short stories, but they are over WAY TO SOON for me!
