“A delightful romantic comedy. Easily in my top ten of the year!”—Devilishly Delicious Book ReviewsLance Parker is an arrogant know-it-all. As author of the bestselling book Your Soulmate Doesn’t Exist, he says love is for losers. Madam Love is a fortune teller and matchmaker who has brought hundreds of couples together. Then the gauntlet is laid down: Madam Love has two weeks to prove Lance wrong and find him a soulmate.
When Lance meets wonderful Emma by chance, he doesn’t know what to think anymore. But Emma has a secret. She’s Madam Love, actually. And it’s going to take a whole lot more than a crystal ball to get her out of this mess.

Madam Love, Actually was a fun read. It’s fairly obvious precisely where the book is going to go almost from the first page, but the journey is still fun and interesting.
I didn’t notice a single error while reading, and i don’t have any complaints or issues. I would, however, like to see a companion recipe book so I can make the cupcakes mentioned throughout the story.
Both Lance and Emma develop naturally throughout the book, and their evolving relationship is a fun ride. I cringed along with Emma through the difficult bits toward the end.
Perhaps because it’s such an easy read, Madam Love, Actually didn’t pull me in enough to award it five stars, but it’s a solid four. While not labeled as such, I think it would be a huge hit with the YA demographic, but it’s certainly entertaining enough for adults to enjoy as well.
I’ve been interested in reading one of Rich Amooi’s books for awhile now, but just hadn’t gotten around to it. When I read the synopsis for this one, though, I knew it was one I needed to give a try. And I was not disappointed! In fact, I can’t wait to read more books by this author now! I believe that Madam Love actually is a minor character in another book by the author, so I figure I’ll go back and start with that one.
The characters were great, I could totally see each of them as they were written. Whenever they ended up together it was hilarious. I love how the little coincidences ended up getting Lance and Emma together, or should I say Lance and Madam Love. While I almost feel a bit of the same with how no one knew Superman and Clark Kent were the same person, I could let that go enough to get into the story and just fall in love.
I was in the story yelling at Emma so many times to just go ahead and tell Lance. Even though I know that she really needed to win the bet in order to save her business, I didn’t really ever get the feeling from her that made her seem greedy or wrong about doing that. It wasn’t on the top of her mind the whole time, and that’s why when at the end she mentioned it, I still wasn’t angry at her for what she had done.
I saw another reviewer mention that they knew who they wanted Madam Love to set them up with, and I laughed, because that is exactly how everyone came to her, asking for exactly what they wanted. I’d just like to find a real Madam Love to tell me what three things I need to do in order to meet my soulmate. At this point, I’m eager to find him no matter what he looks like or who he is!
This book was so good that I had trouble making myself stop reading and go to sleep, even when I had to get up the next morning. I am so glad I was on summer break for this one, because I did stay up quite late on the nights I was reading it.
What a delightful romantic comedy! It’s easily in my top ten of the year! I love that it was also written by a man, Rich Amooi. It was wonderful getting a romantic comedy from a man’s perspective!
I knew I would like the book from the synopsis, but it far exceeded my expectations!!! Madam Love is a fortune teller and matchmaker, and she is quite successful at it. In fact, she has brought many couples together, but recently, business has been slow because of internet matchmaking.
Lance Parker is a writer who has just written Your Soulmate Doesn’t Exist, and he doesn’t believe in love, much less having a soulmate. His world is turned upside down when Madam Love calls into the radio station he is on promoting his book challenging him. She can find his soulmate in just two weeks. He accepts her challenge, although not willingly. However, he realizes it could boost the sales of his books, and she realizes this could do wonders for her business. Neither of them have any clue how very much this little challenge will change their lives!!!!
This is where the book takes off! You see Madam Love is actually a beautiful, sweet woman named Emma. When she meets him for the reading, she is Madam Love, all dressed in costume! She gives him instructions on where he will likely meet his soulmate, but imagine her surprise when the two of them end of at the same places time and time again.
This book had it all….magic, romance, great writing, and great characters. Even though Lance is arrogant, I couldn’t help but love him, especially when I found out why he feels like he does about romance. Who couldn’t love Emma whether she was herself of Madam Love? She is fiesty yet sweet, and she never backed down from the challenges Lance threw her way. In addition to the romance, there was a lot of laughter as well! I could very easily see this book made into a movie, and I would be the first one in line to watch it. Rich Amooi is a new writer to me, and I’m eager to read more from him.

Do you think you have enough red and purple in this room? It looks like a combined shrine to Prince and Valentine’s Day.
It says here on this website that the life expectancy of fortune tellers and psychics is ten years less than that of a normal person… Killed by their disgruntled clients, I’m guessing.
My dad was a military man— a colonel in the Air Force. We never got along, so when I had the opportunity to name our new dog in high school, I chose the name General. I just thought it would be funny to have a dog that outranked my dad.
My Review:
Oh, what fun! This was my first experience reading the talented Mr. Amooi and I found his work a delightful treat. His characters were endearingly quirky and the writing was pleasantly entertaining, amusing, and as comfortable as smooth jazz. It was a quick, light, and easy to follow tale with a vibrant cast and a silky flow. Lance and Emma were an adorable and sweet couple with an instant and electrifying connection that threatened to fry their circuits. After his prickly introduction, I didn’t expect to enjoy the character of Lance as much as I did but I cannot resist a handsome and charming man who names his puppy Typo and teaches him to cha-cha, loves cupcakes, finds a woman cute when she snorts with laughter, jumps in with first aid for a stranger, and recycles without being reminded. I mean, really, very few women could resist all that!
I have a new favorite Amooi book. I loved that this book had touchbacks to two other books. I kept thinking that, you know who really knows you know what, but you never know. Enjoy!
Did you ever read a romance that was just plain cute? Well this is that. And after reading two pretty intense books this was exactly what the doctor ordered for me.
I have a thing for books about fortune tellers. I suppose it’s because one of the first romances I ever read involved a fortune teller and it’s still one of my favorites. There’s something special about fated lovers and the way the universe ordains them to be together.
The way this story unfolded was so appealing to me—repeated unintentional meetings and the progressing relationship, the 180 in Lance’s personality, and the conflicting motivations for Emma. And in the end what she foresaw for them was so perfect and unexpected. It’s one of those stories that makes you smile and forget about your troubles.
This story reminds me of a sitcom episode where the situations aren’t really true to life but you buy into it because you want to be entertained. Nitpicking and overanalyzing it would be a mistake because that isn’t the spirit in which it is written. It’s lighthearted fun and entertainment with a PG rating.
Something that I especially enjoy about this is that the H and h are older—in their 40s. I don’t know if all of Mr. Amooi’s books deal with characters in that age group but I find it refreshing. Why shouldn’t middle aged people find love too?
So, for a little ‘zap’ of light clean entertainment you can’t go wrong with this book. Rich Amooi is an author I have turned to for an escape more than once and I plan to be back.
A true delight!
Emma is an authentic psychic, “Madam Love,” whose visions help people meet their soulmates. Lance is the author of “Your Soulmate Doesn’t Exist.” On a radio show, the two spar, and she’s challenged to find him his soulmate in two weeks. But when her crystal ball causes their paths to continue to cross, she realizes SHE might be his soulmate. This was a such a fun, fun entertaining book. Great setup. Witty dialogue. Once Lance got over his animosity toward Madam Love, he became quite the charmer. He was a great book boyfriend. If you want to have a good time, read this book!
Who Knew a man could write such astonishing comical romance that isn’t vulgar. This is my first book by Rich Amooi and it will not be my last. Be prepared for some burst out moments from laughter.
This was a sweet romantic comedy. The main characters were people who could be your best friends.
I liked the fact that the story was well written, without bad language and sex.
I will follow this author in the future.
