Sugar left on sentient blade business. She came home to a very mad panther. When the sentient blade sends her on a rescue mission, Dr. Sugar Jennings sneaks out of her Bad Panther’s bed without saying goodbye. Why? Because a woman’s got to do what she’s got to do. Okay, not really. Sugar’s more of a straightforward kind of person who would have preferred having the freaking fight to all the … having the freaking fight to all the subterfuge. Axel’s father, Rodu—a fellow blade host and her mentor—says asking forgiveness later is far better than asking for permission which she’s never going to get.
Sugar doesn’t understand why her alien panther shifter slash next-in-line for the Lyran throne mate is all up in her sentient blade business. She thinks Rodu should have done a better job teaching his thick-headed son about the concept of maintaining some personal space while in a relationship.
Sugar’s blade business turns out to be saving another sentient blade host. This one is a silver-spooned, cocky kid fresh out of college whose negative attitude makes Sugar look like the best blade host ever selected. The younger man is amusing and adorable but also a big pain in everyone’s rear, especially her alien-sister-in-law’s. But like it or not, the kid is the host of the other Protector blade which means he’s Sugar’s counterpart. She has to tolerate him and keep him alive if she can.
Honestly? All this blade drama is starting to wear on Sugar’s last nerve. She needs some space to be what she needs to be. Her alien panther isn’t the only one getting mad over the situation.

A woman’s got to do what she’s got to do, so when the sentient blade sends Sugar Jennings on a rescue mission, she sneaks of her Bad Panther’s bed without saying goodbye. The blade’s business turns out to be saving another sentient blade host – who just happens to be a cocky kid fresh out of college and while amusing and adorable, he’s also a bit pain in everyone’s rear. Honestly, all this blade drama is starting to wear on Sugar’s last nerve and her alien panther isn’t the only getting mad over the situation.
The second alien panther story has the romance between Sugar and her sexy panther becoming a bit rocky due to all the business the blade has Sugar attending to and her panther’s over protectiveness. And the rest of the family has their hands full with an uprising and one of Sugar’s alien –sister-in-law is having quite the time handling the new sentient blade host that Sugar has brought home with her. So emotions are running high and where it all ends nobody knows which keeps readers quite amused and completely tuned in.
The story is fast paced and has lots of suspense and excitement happening throughout guaranteeing that readers can’t put the book down for fear of missing something. Missions, betrayals, secrets revealed and life changing news are strategically found throughout this book as well which another entertaining and fascinating reason to keep the readers’ eyes glued to the pages.
Am I the only one who feels for Axel??? Seriously, this panther is a hoot – SUCH a boy! Mad Panther is the second book in this series, can be read as a standalone, however there is an overall theme to the story that I truly love. And we have already met most of the characters so it was fun to catch up. If you can’t tell, Axel is a favorite of mine, right along with his mate, Sugar.
I wouldn’t be able to do the story justice, I suggest you read it for yourself, but I will tell you what I loved about it. Dr. Sugar Jennings is on another…let’s call it… a quest and sneaks out on her panther-mate. Sugar is a very strong character, which I love, and is SO trying to negotiate her new life with an alien Protector, an alien mate, and the entire planet after her “secrets”. She is strong, but unsure of what her new responsibilities are in this ‘guarding the world’ thing and sometimes makes decisions that make her mate cranky. Or crankier than usual!
Sugar sets off with Axel’s father, Rodu, to find the third alien Protector blade (read the stories; it will make more sense). Together, they find this person. It is a fun, crazy, very strange ride that surprises all the humans and Lyrans. There is an “adventure”, a rescue, a murderous plot, and enough hijinks to keep you laughing AND intrigued.
I loved this book and so enjoy the series. Can’t wait to read about the next adventure…and Axel’s reaction to it, whatever it may be!

This is another fantastic story by Donna McDonald. I loved this second book of the Alien Guardians of Earth series. I can’t wait for the next story.
When Sugar leaves their bed one night to go on a mission, Axel becomes a Mad Panther. He follows her where she has discovered the next Blade with his father. Lake is the newest Protector. His transition is not smooth but he helps stop a plot to take the throne away from Axel’s mother. Gina, Axel’s sister is drawn to Lake but secrets are revealed when cause her to question everything. Will they discover the key to Lake’s past?

The second book in the series called Alien Guardians of Earth a well written story that held my interest throughout.Dr. Sugar Jennings has to save another sentient blade host a young man called Lake Allen Wright who is to be the Savior of Rodu and he wants sex with Axel’s sister Gina as soon as they meet. I enjoyed reading this story and hope there is a third book soon. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Who doesn’t want to visit a world where flying machines transport you and human, aliens & Panther Shifters live. Donna McDonald takes us to a world like no other for the adventure staring some really interesting and fun characters including Axel and Sugar who are out of this world, and also Lake and Gina who are just to cute together in an “I want to kick your butt” kind of way.. I loved hanging out with such a unique and fun story.
Bad Panther has to find his balance to keep Sugar. Sometimes Sugar’s blade business is going to come before her relationship with Axel and he is just going to have to deal. Is this situation Mad Panther doesn’t have a leg to stand on, can he become the better man? This continuing story expands the mythology and the cast of characters. The aliens are sort of dry, but the innuendos are so wry you can’t help but smile. This fun sci-fi adventure has another emerging couple, maybe, and is one cool read.

Alien Guardians of Earth #2
Looking for a lighthearted paranormal fantasy with a strong female lead and her half-alien panther shapeshifter mate on the prowl? This might be the book for you.
Dr. Sugar Jennings is called from sleep to move quickly, find the next human who will host a sentient blade and keep him safe. So, she and her panther-mate’s father head off together to do their job. They find the new host, save him, fight off bad guys, deal with those that follow them, spend time recovering and then go on other adventures. The new host might have a relationship in the making. Sugar and her panther-mate Axel have a surprise at the end of this book and I came away knowing that there is another host to be found or that will find a sentient blade. It will be interesting to see where this series goes next.
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.

A brilliant read with some good characters. I liked the story and I liked the cover too. 5*.
Mad Panther by Donna McDonald is the second book in the Alien Guardians of Earth series. In this book, Sugar a human woman is learning to work with the alien protector blade she is merging with while her alien lover and guardian Axel learns to deal with Sugar’s needs to balance his protectiveness with her independence. As Sugar searches to find the two other missing blades her blade abruptly notifies her that the other blade has chosen a human host and that he is in danger. This story describes the bringing of another protectors blade and its human host into the Lyran fold. This book has been set an amazing world of aliens who protect humanity and interesting twists on historical places that I found fascinating. I love the way the characters have very real issues with the situations they find themselves in. This book is a wonderful mix of aliens, shape shifters, science fiction, mystery, romance, and alternate history. This is a story that any reader will be entranced by. Mad Panther is a wonderfully exciting story!
Sugar and Axel is really trying to settle into there relationship. Sugar is adapting to her sentient blades did becoming one with it. But Axel her mate is taking her protector status very hard the thought that he could lose his mate has this prince scared. Sugar with the help of her mate’s father will set out on a journey to find the last two blade. When they finally come up to the aide of the third protector and his host, they get one step closer to uniting all four blade and figuring out there destiny.

I am in love with this story. I actually went and read it a second time before reviewing because it is that good. Sugar and Axel are very present, but we get to know Lake and Gina…and they are a fantastic addition. The vivid descriptions and fully formed characters are wonderful.
