Fall in love with Jed and Josie in this emotionally captivating, sexy standalone romance by New York Times bestselling author Melissa Foster. The perfect love story for those who enjoy fiercely loyal and insanely sexy alpha heroes, smart, sassy heroines, strong family bonds, bikers, babies, and more! Can true love strike twice in one lifetime? Josie Beckley refuses to believe there is a limit on … believe there is a limit on happiness. A decade after she escaped her abusive parents and lost touch with her siblings, the death of her husband leaves her and her son homeless. But Josie has never been one to wallow in sadness, and when she takes a chance on reconnecting with her siblings, a sinfully handsome bright light from her past shows up and offers to help her find a way out of the darkness.
Most people wouldn’t see Jed Moon as someone to look up to. He’s been in and out of jail and has lived a less-than-stellar lifestyle. But years ago one woman saw through his nonsense, and he’s never forgotten her. Now she’s back in his life, and as a prospect for the Dark Knights motorcycle club, Jed promises to keep an eye on the sassy, sexy single mother who has never stopped lighting his fantasies on fire.
Jed and Josie’s combustible connection is stronger than ever. Having Josie and her son in his life brings out all of Jed’s protective instincts-and visions of a future he never imagined having. But when a shocking revelation knocks the insatiable lovers to their knees, it forces them to make choices that could change their lives forever.

Ms. Foster has a way of pulling you into any story and making it feel like you are living it. Her characters are so real. They aren’t perfect and they aren’t written that way. She shows their journey to redemption and not just great lives with family, friends, and romance.
Jed and Josie are both on their own paths to better lives. I love how strong they are alone but even stronger together. Jed is another wonderful Foster man. He is strong but loving and once he knows what he wants he doesn’t let go. I didn’t connect with Josie as well but I love her determination.
I love that we got to reconnect with our “friends” earlier books in this series and can’t wait to see them again in Dixie’s book.
4.5 Stars
Mad About Moon is the fifth title in The Whiskey’s series, featuring Josie and Jed. Although this title can be read as a standalone, I would highly recommend reading Truly, Madly Whiskey which features Jed’s sister Crystal, and Wicked Whiskey Love, featuring Josie’s sister Sarah.
This pair of characters are flawed, endearing and relatable. Neither had easy childhoods, growing up in abusive and neglectful homes, and both had to grow up way before their time.
Josie and Jed’s story is a sweet, well paced and emotional second chance romance with equal parts, heat, heart and humor. Josie and Jed share a history and when fate intervenes and they reconnect the spark between them is immediate and undeniable.
If you enjoy a contemporary romance with strong themes of family, friendship and community I not only recommend Mad About Moon, but the entire Whiskey series.
Josie Beckley caught my attention when I met her in the previous installment, Wicked Whiskey Love. I wanted to know her story, why she harboured so much anger towards her sister. When I learnt that Mad About Moon would be her story I was on that baby like white on rice.
Josie is a widow and a single mom to a six-year-old boy. She grew up in an abusive environment, but she ran away and started a new life. This new life taught her how much she deserved to be loved. However, tragedy turned her life upside down and now she is down on her luck, homeless and living in a shelter. She lost touch with her siblings, but fate brought her to the same town they lived. When she finally built up the courage to reconnect with them she reconnected not only with her siblings but also with Jed Moon, whom she never expected to see again.
Jed Moon has borne more than his fair share of pain and loss. He is a prospect for the Dark Knights, the biker group, who rescued him when his life was spiraling out of control. Jed met Josie several years ago, but that one meeting made a lasting impression. He hoped he would once again see the girl who played a role in changing his life. So when Josie came looking for her siblings he saw this as the perfect opportunity to have her back in his life.
The sparks and chemistry, which burned between them years ago, was still alive.
Given their history, the pace at which the romance developed came as no surprise. I enjoyed every aspect of their romance, which I found to be sweet and spicy.
My first impression of Josie, which occurred prior to this installment, was not flattering. My opinion changed after learning of her past. Her doubts and fears leapt off the pages. The reasons for her anger towards her siblings became so much clearer, but it was misplaced. I loved that she tried to make amends even though she was fearful at first, a fear that grew out of guilt.
I adored Jed. He has a huge heart. The way he embraced Josie’s son spoke volumes. Then there were the moments with his mom and sister. Jed is one of those persons who cannot turn their backs on someone who needs help. I loved how he treated his mom despite her treatment towards him and her sister, while growing up. Never once did he give upon her.
Mad About Moon is an emotional read which features a cast of wonderful characters. I enjoyed how much they loved and supported each other. Their actions showed that family does not necessarily have to comprise of blood relatives. Family is all about having people you can count on to be there for you through thick and thin.
Conclusion/Recommendation
Another heart-warming story by Melissa Foster and a great addition to the series. Fans of spicy, heartwarming stories will appreciate this latest offering from the Ms. Foster.
Thumbs-Up!! I am a hugh fan of the Whiskeys and this story went right to the top of my favorites list. It has taken a while for Jed to get his life straightened out and on the right track. Now he has found the woman who stole his heart in the past and he’s ready to step up to show her life can be great again after all. This story tugged on my heartstrings. You could just feel how much Jed wanted to make Josie and Hail feel wanted and loved and show her just what family really is. Everything about this story was hopeful, loving and uplifting
4.5 Second Chance Stars!
I love this Whiskey family saga, and it just gets better and better! I was so excited for Josie’s story and Moon was a perfect pairing! Josie is Sarah and Scott’s younger sister and they all came from an abusive home. Sarah and Scott escaped, with a promise to return for Josie, but she needed to flee before they came back. Now Josie is a sullen widow with a young son, feeling like everyone leaves her. Moon was a troubled teen who needed to take care of his sister and alcoholic mother anyway he could. Moon and Josie had a brief encounter years ago that neither could forget and sealed their hearts together. Moon has been saved by the Whiskey’s, and given a new, promising lease on life. When he meets the woman of his dreams again, he is ready to help her find a new home and family with him and the extended Whiskey clan. But with a history like theirs, it is a long struggle that is so worth the fight. This is a fun, heartwarming, passionate story of forgiveness, trust, new beginnings, and love. Ms Foster continues to create a world that I want to live in and characters I want as friends. Narrators Devra Woodward, and Jacob Morgan did a great job bringing out the complex emotions that Moon and Josie struggled with. Their inflections were spot on and their intonations helped to make this romance even more captivating! I especially thought their children’s voices were amazing! This family saga has really captured my heart, and I can’t wait for more from the Whiskey’s!
4.5 stars
This story made me swoon. I swear, Jed Moon and Josie are the sweetest couple ever! They had an instant connection years ago when they first met that came zinging back at them as soon as they met up again in this book. They go together like peas and carrots.
Both Jed and Josie had a rough time of things growing up. For Jed (who is Crystal’s brother who got her story told in Truly, Madly, Whiskey) his early childhood was great and went downhill when he was a preteen. For Josie (who is Sarah’s sister who got her story told in Wicked Whiskey Love), her home life was terrible until she took found a great person to help her out when she was a young teen. Both grew away from, and even lost track of, their siblings in that time. Now everyone is finding their way back to one another and finding what family and home really means.
I appreciate the care Melissa Foster took when telling Josie’s story. Her feelings of guilt about moving on, although her husband has been gone for a couple of years now. Her worry over what it all means for her son, Hail. From losing his dad at a young age to meeting aunts, uncles and cousins he didn’t know to getting attached to Moon, Hail has been through a lot in his short life so far. Luckily, being considered part of the Whiskey family is the best place to be when your world feels out of control. Josie never opened up her world once she settled in with Brian, his grandmother, and then had Brian’s son. Being a part of the Dark Knight’s world is a whole different ball game for her and it scares her. But she finds her niche.
There are a lot of interesting new characters brought to light in this story. Some we’ve met in passing before, but some are just being introduced. I think I enjoy this series the most out of all the offshoots and other series this author has. Seeing Dixie Whiskey get her HEA is going to be fun. To be honest, I have no clue which direction the author will go with that one. There’s more than one fella looking to sneak past her brothers for a date with that strong and sassy woman. I cannot wait!

This author is one that will give you the feel goods plus much more. In this one that is centered around Jed and Josie you get that emotional high that you crave when reading a romance. Josie has had her roller coaster ride with life but still looks a way most would not find. When she crosses paths again with Jed things go in a direction that has our eyes on them. Things unfold that will have us melting like a chocolate on a summer day. This also has the flavor of a MC so that made it like having a cherry with the chocolate. One that was a winner most definitely.
Its no secret that I love Melissa Foster books, but I just absolutely love her Whiskey Series the most! I have been dying for Jed & Josie’s story, and Foster did not disappoint me one bit. This is a standalone but I do recommend you read the previous book as you will get a better feel for Josie’s situation.
Jed Moon is a prospect for the Dark Knights MC run by the Whiskey’s – he may not be a Whiskey by blood but he certainly is by his caring attitude. He has a rough past but seeing a girl a few years ago lead him to change his path in life and brought him to where he is right now. When Josie makes an appearance in town, Jed cant believe his eyes – this is girl he shared one night that changed his life forever!
Josie has had a terrible childhood with abusive parents and seeing how well turned out her sister Sarah and brother Scott has turned out has left her feeling all kinds of things. She is in town to try an reconnect with her siblings after being apart for so long but seeing Moon was the last thing she expected!
Their past is entwined in more ways than one, and Josie has her son Hail to protect. Her husband and his father passed away so she lost everything, but can she gain everything with Moon?
Once again Melissa has proved why I love her characters and stories so much – she weaves a tale that you can help but get hooked on and root for the couple to make it, and in this one they make their happy ever after in a spectacular way – now I may be the only one but I called it regarding a significant story line in this book and was pleased that I was right, the subtle signs were there and looking back when you think about it – it all makes total sense!
Mad About Moon is another heart-tugging, fantastic read in The Whiskeys series by Melissa Foster. Jed Moon is not a Whiskey by birth but the way they take him in makes me feel like he could have always been a Whiskey sibling. He’s the actual sibling to Crystal whose story we read in Truly, Madly, Whiskey. So, I have to say that I’m so happy that we are finally getting Jed’s love story.
Melissa Foster creates real-life characters in her stories that push and pull on your heartstrings. While there are some struggles in Mad About Moon, most are in the past and we are able to see the evolution of love between both Josie and Jed from the beginning. Jed is sweet, sexy, and has the biggest heart. Always worrying about others more than himself.
While Josie battles with guilt over her past, the real star of this book shines through. Hail is Josie’s son and he steals the show. Jed treads carefully, but Hail runs full force into his life. The way that Melissa Foster takes us on this touching journey is just one of the reasons I return to her works time and time again. Mad About Moon is a second-chance romance with Foster’s signature happy ending.
This story!! 10+++ stars because it is just a beautiful, emotional but not angsty, story about love, family, second chances, and hope! I absolutely fell in love w/ Jed & Josie (and Hail) & loved seeing all my Whiskeys! This series is epic, and I highly recommend it!! : )
Mad About Moon (The Whiskeys, #5) by Melissa Foster …Why are there only 5 stars… I am so in love with Jed (Moon…he has overcome so much…and has a heart of gold…) Josie ( had a horrible childhood..lost her husband and her home…) Hail (her son and one cute kid) I cried and laughed and cried happy tears. All the Whiskeys and friends are in the wonderful story of finding lost loves, redemption, helping others and finding a very steamy HEA. Can’t wait for TAMING MY WHISKEY.
Mad about Moon (The Whiskey’s #5) by Melissa Foster. Josie Beckley’s life has been turned upside down. The love of her life has unexpectedly died, she is homeless and she is left with a small child. Growing up she lived in an abusive house with her and her siblings. Her life has been hard till she met her husband She is now in a homeless shelter where her long lost sister’s fiance’s works. Once she tries to connect back with her family she also reconnects with Moon. She hasn’t seen him since she was seventeen. No man has ever made her feel the way he did, not even her husband. Jed aka Moon was a screw up when he first met Josie. Now a member of the Dark Knights, he has gotten himself together. He has never forgot the night he spent with Jojo and seeing her again has brought back all those memories. This book can be read as a standalone but please read the previous books. No one writes a love story like this author. She takes you on a journey that has you falling in love along with the characters. I also love her characters. The sexy way the main character acts and the romance between them is smoking. 5 definite stars for me. Always looking forward to the next book in this series and her other series. I really do need a family tree map or spreadsheet when I read her books. I love it. So many characters. So many crossover story lines.
This has all the emotion I’ve come to expect for this fabulous author along with a little more grit and darkness. There are still the wonderfully complex characters that make my heart swoon but their backstories carry a lot of sadness and tragedy. A homeless mother, Josie, with an adorable little boy, Hail (love the story behind his name) is doing the best she can after losing her husband along with almost everything else. Josie ends up in a shelter and even though she has suffered a setback she hasn’t lost her fight and her growth through the story is beautiful. The shelter is full of interesting women and has the help of the larger community along with a MC that only does good. Josie wants to reunited with her long lost siblings that are in the area but it’s an emotional trigger for her. Her sibs are tied up with the fantastic Whiskey family and the MC. Love to see characters from previous stories and there are tons in this book. One of the MC guys is a blast from Josie’s past and the sizzling chemistry between her and Moon/Jed is as strong as it was that one memorable night they spent together five years ago when JoJo/Josie was a teen. The connection between the two is obvious and so sexy. Moon is the bomb! Hunky, handsome, good with kids and finally has his shit together. The only thing missing is a home and he has plans that now include Josie and Hail. Jed’s growth through the series into a phenomenal man is wonderful. There’s so much to love in this story from the steamy, loving couple to the precious kids to the fantastic family and friends. Can’t wait for Dixie’s story! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
Read: 4/11/19
Mad About Moon was the fifth book in Melissa Foster’s Whiskey series; however, it can be read as a stand-alone if desired.
Jed Moon was the sister to Crystal (book two, Truly, Madly Whiskey). He was the older brother who supported her when they were kids by stealing to keep them fed and clothed. He stayed in trouble when he was young but as they got older he straightened out, was prospecting at the Dark Knights and worked as a mechanic and bouncer for Dark Knight businesses.
Josie Beckley was a struggling widow with her six year old son, Hail. We met her in book four, Wicked Whiskey Love, as the bitter and troubled long lost sister to Scott and Sarah. She was abandoned by them at thirteen and had to fend for herself, or so she thought.
Mad About Moon was a multi-faceted storyline with several plots that eventually merged into one. Josie came from a horrendous background with abusive parents where eventually one by one the three children fled. Much of the story centered around the three reuniting, the discovery of their separate lives and the struggle for Josie to forgive. Simultaneously, the storyline revealed a history between Josie and Jed. Amongst his troubled past, Jed had never forgotten the one girl he truly connected with for one night.
The story was emotional, humorous and fun with depth, dimension and complexity. It was built around second chances in all areas of life. Foster also included the strong cast of secondary characters through the entire extended Whiskey and Dark Knight clan demonstrating love, loyalty and family bonds at every turn. The fiery Dixie Whiskey is up next in Taming My Whiskey which shows promise of an explosive, sassy and passionate tale.
This book was everything I expected and more, I have read all the previous books in The Whiskeys Series and just when I think it can’t get any better Melissa Foster throws a spanner in the works with yet another fantastic read. This may be book 5 in the series but I believe Mad About Moon could be read as a stand-alone although I’m sure after reading you would want to catch up on the previous stories so why not grab them all and read them in order…..
Josie and her 5 year old little boy have seeked rescue in a woman’s shelter and is trying to rebuild her life away from her abusive parents what she doesn’t expect is to come across a man from her past a man she loved many moons ago.
Jed Moon is a prospect for Dark Knights and he is everything I love in a man, total alpha and always showing the love of his life, family and friends loyalty. I loved the relationship Jed formed with Hail (Josie’s son) and I loved the banter this pair shared throughout the book.
This is a story of love, family and friendships and it’s a book I will go back and read over and over. Can’t wait to see where we go next with this great series from this very talented author.
Filled with heart and sexy goodness! Melissa Foster never fails to bring a magical couple to life in front of our eyes when we open a new book from her, and this one was no exception. The Whiskey family has been pretty spectacular so far, and the guy that they consider one of the family is just as kind-hearted and awesome. Really engrossing characters, back story and connection. Loved Moon, JoJo and little Hail!
Josie Beckley never thought she’d find herself living in a homeless shelter with her young son, but after the unexpected death of her husband, things just simply fell apart. Brian was her rock. He saved her when she had no one and the love he showered on her and their son was a shining light for her. Now she’s trying to pick up the pieces of life again and get back on her feet. Her estranged siblings have been trying to reconnect with her, and she thinks she’s finally at a place in her head where she can let that happen.
Jed Moon is shocked to see the woman he knew for one glorious night as JoJo years ago show up at the Christmas festivities with the Whiskey family. He has never met another woman whom he connected with like he did with her. She saw through all of the filler and saw the true guy in his heart. He steps up to make sure she and her son get settled, and ends up falling for her hook, line and sinker. There’s a lot to overcome in getting her to open up her heart, but he’s willing to wait!
The Whiskey series has become my happy place. Every new release I’m over the moon excited to get back to this family full of love and comfort and Mad About Moon was no exception. As a matter of fact this book is one of the best out of the entire series. We finally get to discover the mystery that is Sarah’s sister Josie and we get a book full of so much healing and love it’ll have you crying all the happy tears.
After suffering a massive loss and falling on hard times Josie is already feeling fragile. Without knowing the true extent of what her siblings had been through in their years apart I don’t think she was prepared for the reality of what their lives really were. As she takes baby steps to mend the relationship with them she suddenly finds herself face to face with the man who stole her heart years before, Moon.
Moon doesn’t waste a minute of the second chance he receives when he sees Josie again. Endlessly loving not only her but her sweet little boy too he slowly (for him anyway ) works his way back into her life. These two have a story that is immensely sweet and leaves your heart filled with happiness. They became yet another couple I could not get enough of!
You just have to love the Whiskey men–really rough and tough and kind of scary looking–but cream puffs underneath. Nobody and I mean nobody messes with anyone in this bike clubs town or the areas that they deem under their protection! The guys in this club are not all related by blood–but they might as well be. And heaven help the person that messes with one of their girlfriends!
Jed fell in love at first sight with Josie–but then she disappears. She reappears years later at the door of her sister who she hasn’t seen in ages–he thinks it is her and the re-connection begins. Both of them have backgrounds that might have you heading for the tissues–There is also Josies son–
Of course there are problems along the way to their happily after after–but friends and family are there to help them along!
I can’t say this enough, there is something about Melissa Foster’s writing; I will read ANYTHING she wants to write no matter the subject. But this Whiskey family is just the most wonderful caring and support of family next to the Braden’s. I want to Whiskeys to adopt me just so I could feel the love that they have.
Jeb and Josie’s story was just something you will fall in love with. Jeb might have a rough outside but this man has the biggest heart for everything dear in his life. The way he instantly adored Josie’s son just melted my heart and his love to make Josie’s life better just made me swoon over the Moon! Jeb and Josie had a past and this was their second chance to make something wonderful and give each something that was missing.
I can’t wait for Dixie story; PLEASE let Dr. Butterscotch be the man for Dixie. Their flirting and bantering is filled with sexual chemistry.
A fun and sexy addition to this series.
Here we have Moon and Josie, they met years ago for one night and now reunite again without knowing how connected they really are now.
Anyway, these two have gone through so much in their lives, I just wanted to hug them. Still, they are both willing to work for their HEA and not give up. I loved their journey to get to a better place, and I loved even more the journey between them. They were great for each other and I was also glad for the family surrounding them that lifted them up. THAT’s what they truly needed, people who would root for them.
There were sexy times here, some swoony ones and the sweetest with little Hail. <3 <3
All in all, this was a story with a little bit of everything and a hell of a lot of sexy, lol. A great part of the series.
*Thank you to the author for providing a copy for which I’m giving my honest opinion*
