This was my first book by Theresa Paolo, but it won’t be my last. Mad About Matt is a small town, second chance love story. The characters are amazing and I love the storyline. Matt is the Sheriff of Red Maple Falls, a delightful little town that has the cutest residents. The Hayes family completely sucked me in, and I can’t wait to devour each of their stories as they find love. The story was easy to read, engaging, and the chemistry was off the charts adorable. My favorite book from Theresa Paolo. Completely recommended for anyone looking for a feel good romance. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
“Mad About Matt” is the first book in the Red Maple Falls series by Theresa Paolo. Matt is the oldest of six siblings and the local sheriff in Red Maple Falls, the small town he was born and raised in. Seventeen years ago, he fell in love with Shay, a beautiful young woman who lived in New York but spent her summer vacations in Red Maple Falls with her grandparents. They haven’t spoken in years, but the feelings are still there. Matt is such a great male lead character, hometown boy, loyal to family and friends, helps out his parents and grandparents, what a catch! He is one of those characters you root for even if he isn’t the underdog. Shay seems to balance him out very well when he gets overly macho bossy to her and I love that! She doesn’t like to be told what to do after being bossed around for so many years and it’s wonderful to see a female character stand up for her life and love. Shay following her dreams and opening her own bakery is such a great way to honor her passions in life. These characters were so fun to read about, I hated to reach the end of the book. I am very happy to see that the Red Maple Falls series is nice and long and I can’t wait to read each one! So, yeah, five full stars to Theresa Paolo and “Mad About Matt!”

This was a really sweet romance read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I haven’t read anything by this author previously but I had a feeling I would enjoy the story as the blurb interested me and within a few pages I could tell it was my kind of read.
I really loved the characters, Shay and Matt. They were both down to earth people and had this great realistic feel about them. They are the kind of characters who you can’t help but like straight away and end up rooting for them the whole way through.
So I could see how the story could be a little predictable however I still loved it. I thought the authors’ writing was good – it was a perfect easy to read small town romance story. I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.
Mad About Matt, by Theresa Paolo, is the first book in the Red Maple Falls series. This second chance romance is utterly sweet with a mix of drama running abound. Shay is a strong female character is this book though she may not always make the best decisions. She feels that she is on the path she needs to be on and holds firm to those strides. Matt is a protector, it’s driven in his DNA. He exudes those traits throughout the story, whether they across good or bad. Add these two back into the same pot and the question on whether the sparks will reignite or it they will sparkle, then fizzle out. Theresa Paolo wrote a well paced story with solid characters. In the midst of their story, secondary characters are introduced that set the stage for the series to continue. A worthwhile read that I enjoyed each moment.

I simply adore books about small towns and the people that live there. I already have a list of towns I want to live in and Red Maple Falls has now been added to this list.
This was such a great story and my first by this author and it makes me wonder why I’ve never found these books before now. This was a great second chance themed book about two people who were tore apart years ago by a person who put greed and social standing above what truly matters in this world, although they both played a small part in what ended up happening.
Can they get past what happened and even if they can will they be able to escape what happened in the time they were apart?
I loved this and the authors writing style had me hooked throughout…it flowed beautifully and I can not wait to dig in to the the rest of this series. I highly recommend reading this.
Loved It!!!
Mad About Matt (Red Maple Falls #1) by Theresa Paolo was a okay read that, for me, was a little bit of a mixed of love hate, slow burn read, turned WTF, to okay will that escalated quickly. I have to say I’m a little mixed, there is good, there is ugly, and there is, sad to say some bad.
This is a first time read for me from this author, so as always I go in with a open mind, and at the start everything was going pretty good. The writing is engaging, it has a nice rhythm and it flowed nicely from one scene to the next. As for plot, it wasn’t anything new, I mean I have read similar ones before. But all have their own quirks and charm that makes you keep coming back. This book is no different. The fictional town of Red Maple is right out of a hallmark TV movie, sweet, country and all the shops seem to being doing well. I liked that feel, it set the stage, and it was familiar. So very easy to form a picture, even if there wasn’t as much detail on the town itself.
Now, as for why I have very mixed feels. As a romance, it in itself was a little all over the place. It’s a slow burn, but with the MC’s already knowing one another, and had previously date as teens. It was a summer loving type deal (Did Grease pop into your head?… ahhaha) They parted, Matt was heartbroken, never got over it, blamed every failed relationship on it, and so on. Shay’s story follows pretty much the same. This wasn’t a problem for me, I like these second chance romances, cheese and all. It was the way they both acted. For people in their 30’s they were damn immature (I’m in that zone, so yes I can judge.)
Shay, I wasn’t a fan, she portrayed a tough girl persona, but cracked under pressure. She failed at knowing when you should call for help, ask for help, and simply not growing a set and talking to Matt. Two years she was back, and neither one made the attempt to reconnect, instead they pined and wished they would. Both could fill the ocean with their excuses. Matt also was, wow, he had a big character shift half way through, and I don’t know how I feel about that. It was so out of his, build up character, that I was taken back and a little mad.
Things do work themselves out, and they run off into the sunset. I know it seems like I’m harping, but those things stood out to me. Not all is on the down side. The story itself isn’t bad, it has great conversation, witty banter and it hooks you right away. This book, is a little rough around the edges but it reads well and as I said it keeps you engaged and entertained. And frankly, isn’t that what we want from a story? So don’t get discouraged, give this book a shot, you might like everything I didn’t.
With that being said, I give this book my recommendation and my stamp of approval.
Happy Reading.

Mad about Matt is the first book in the Red Maple Falls series by Theresa Paolo. It’s been sitting on my Kindle for a bit and I finally got the chance to read it. I’m so glad I did and wish I had gotten to it sooner.
Matt had his heart broken when he was a teenager by Shay. He isn’t that boy anymore but he hasn’t ever recovered from her.
Shay loved spending her summers with her grandparents as a kid. It was then she met and fell in love with Matt. But love is never easy when you’re young.
Thankfully there is always an opportunity to rekindle that love no matter how much neither one of them wants do it or fight it.
I fell in love with this group of siblings and I’m looking forward to reading their stories and how they fall in love with their special someones.

I have found a new must read author with this book and I cannot Wait to dive into the rest of this series. I was hooked from the first word to the last.
Shay and Matt had a summer love so strong that years after she left, they still held onto their feelings for each other. The chemistry between these two was hot, but they also had a deep connection to one another.
I really loved this story and I cant wait to read the rest of this series as the secondary characters caught my attention in this book as well. This is a must read!
“The Hayes Brothers (are) the hottest bachelors in town – kind, each charming in their own ways, and undeniably sexy as hell.”
This is the story of Matt (Hayes) and Shay. They were high school loves and after a few events they didn’t see each other for a long time. “Not everything from your past is meant to stay with you” – this is the story of their moving on from the past.
This is book one of a series and I thought it would be a bit more world building than it was. The writing is very detailed and I found myself skimming at times.
They were certain things that bugged me but not enough to down grade my rating. I did find myself highlighting quite a few passages because at times the writing is almost poetic.
Overall this was a quick and enjoyable read and o have put the other stories in the series on my TBR list.
Mad About Matt (A Red Maple Falls Novel, #1) by Theresa Paolo is a second chance romance, set in a small town, where everybody knows your business. Theresa is a good job of writing this story that is wonderful tale of love and has good vibe feel. The story is an easy read, it is engaging and at times humorous. There were also moments when I wanted to punch one of the characters. The chemistry between our main characters is smoking and sweet. This is a fantastic start to this series the characters, the Hayes family will have you falling in love with them and completely sucking you in to the story and I can’t wait to enjoy their stories or the story of this small town. I highly recommend this one to anyone who loves a sweet romance!

The story Mad About Matt (A Red Maple Falls Novel, #1) by Theresa Paolo is an amazing romance book that I loved reading. It is a story that hooks you in from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put down until I had read the final page. It is a sweet love story that warmed my heart. I loved reading about the characters of Shay and Matt. Matt is the sheriff in a small town where his family lives and he grew up in. He is a man that still thinks about the one woman who got away and he can’t ever get out of his thoughts, Shay. Shay has moved back from New York and made her dream of opening a bakery come true. She hasn’t told why she left or what brought her back. Matt avoids that bakery and Shay because of the feelings that he had and still has for her, however, he can’t avoid her anymore when a break in happens at her shop. Both Matt and Shay are still attracted to each other and their feelings/emotions for each other have never died. Will they take the second chance that they are being given? The passion between them is undeniable. Will they make sure that nothing or anyone come between them? Will they get a happy ending? Read this book to find out. As I have grown up in a small town, I love that this story takes place in one. I also loved most of the additional characters that are introduced. That they are those closest to Matt and Shay is wonderful and make the story have that feeling of home and family. There are some scenes between Matt and Shay that make the temperature rise. This is an amazing story with wonderful characters. It is the first book in a series and I now find myself wanting to read the other stories. Highly recommended reading.
Mad About Matt is a second chance romance book. I found that some of the content was not for me personally, but I can understand how this content would be for someone else. Theresa Paolo did write an interesting story. Her characters are lovable, and the town is small town USA. Besides being a romance book, there is a mystery about the town. I did like this story as I love the story line and the plot. Just some of the intimate details was a little too much for me.
Matt loved Shay when they were in high school. Then as the story goes his high school sweetheart Shay came back from NYC. Shay has opened a bakery in Red Maple Falls and she has been the victim of several break-ins. She is worried that someone has followed her from NYC. She does not want to press charges and Matt (now sheriff) does not understand why.
Mad About Matt (A Red Maple Falls Novel, #1) By Theresa Paolo. This book is without a doubt in my top five favorite reads for this year! This is my first book by this author and I’m so incredibly glad I found her! This book is beautiful and filled with so many wonderful emotions. Matt and Shay are a couple that completely grabs your attention and has you living their story right beside them. The author does a wonderful job of writing with just details that I truly saw the story come alive. This story about second chances is also about following dreams and making your own path in life. Each character brings something unique to this amazing story. I’m so excited to read other books by this author and have to give this one a five star review and highly recommend it to everyone!
This cute story is relatable and fun. The characters resonate with the reader easily. The setting in a small town makes the story and characters familiar. I look forward to seeing how the series continues.

This book started off wonderfully! It is so smooth I felt right at home with these main characters. I love the chemistry between Matt and Shay. The have that spark as well as the cute banter. Just lovely! The secondary characters are a fun bunch. From Matt’s brothers and sisters to his parents and grandparents. The crazy drunk tractor driver and the best friend fire chief. There is always something going in and some or all of these people are involved. The banter between Shay, Kate (BFF and Matt’s sister) and Louise (employee) is snappy and fun.
I like how we were taken deeper into Matt’s family. It was a joy to spend time and get to know them. His parents and grandparents. Hadley working the farm, Mason being a home brewer and Kate glass blower those are cool and different jobs. I look forward to learning more from them.
This is a highly entertaining book. I chuckle and smiled while reading. The town and the characters were all lovely. This is a first time author for me and I look forward to getting to know the Hayes clan even more.
This is a second chance book. The story takes place in a small town where Matt is a sheriff in town and has loved Shay for a long time. Shay left town years ago but now is back and has opened a bakery. The mystery of the story is when someone breaks into her shop and makes her question all of her decisions to come back. I enjoyed these two. Their chemistry is strong and I could easily see myself being friends with them and hoping for a HEA. I highly recommend Matt and Shay’s story.

Mad About Matt is the first book in the Red Maple Falls series by Theresa Paolo. It is a second chance at love romance, and my first read from this author. This story is a familiar recipe but done quite well by Ms. Paolo. It’s a small-town romance that’s just as sweet as cherry pie- cute, with a dash of mystery and suspense, new beginnings, and a sprinkle of drama.
Shay Matthews and Matt Hayes have a history that takes them back 17 years. They were so close, then circumstances separated them and kept them apart all these years. Shay has moved back to town looking for a fresh start and opened her own bakery, “Sweet Dreams”. Life is going according to plan, until her bakery is broken into, which brings Matt on the scene, as he’s the local Sheriff. They butt heads, and sparks fly. What ensues makes for a light and entertaining read.
Even though this is a tried and tested recipe, Ms. Paolo puts her own stamp on it. It is a great book to read if you want something sweet and light-hearted. It was entertaining, if not a little predictable. But that didn’t detract too much from the overall story. It was a little slow in places, especially around the middle of the book, where it seemed to lag quite a bit. I also felt that the sex scenes didn’t match the rest of the story- they seemed a bit rushed in some cases, just awkward, or brushed over. This wasn’t a ‘deal-breaker’ for me, but definitely something that stood out from the rest of the book, and invariably pulled me out of the story.
The characters were realistic- interesting enough to keep me reading, and quite likeable. But there were times that Shay really frustrated me. For a girl who had lived in New York City, you’d think she’d be a little more security conscious and take the necessary measures! I hated her mother, she was quite a piece of work!
This book is the first in a series of standalones that introduce us to the six members of the Hayes family- 3 brothers and 3 sisters, who each get their own book. I will be reading the other books to see what’s in store for the characters, and for us!
Thank You, Ms. Paolo!
You NEED this book in your life!! I couldn’t put it down. Such a heartfelt romantic story! A lost love revived in a new way. A dream realised and finally grasped. I loved it. Perfection on every page. The only thing I would change is I would make it longer! I didn’t want it to end!!!
This book was fun, lighthearted and a great summer read!
An absolutely gorgeous small town romance. Beautiful characters, a great story, and written very well. So excited to read the next book in this fantastic new series.
