Tossing a middle finger to Macon, Georgia, on my way to Nashville. That was always the dream. Sing country music, go on tour, top the charts—with my popularity growing every day, I was on my way.All it took was a gust of wind that blew up your skirt, and those white cotton panties had me hooked. I didn’t know your name, and you turned down every attempt I threw your way. But I knew you were … knew you were different, even though you told me I was the same.
“Just friends” is what you offered, and I played by your rules, but, Adelaide Hatfield, you have to know, from that day, it was only you.
I just hope I can make you see how much you mean to me before we both drown in the sorrow of what heartbreak will bring.

Oh Marie!!!! How do you manage to make me fall in love, and lets face it lust, every single time.
I loved Axton from the start. How is now one of my favorite book boyfriends ever! He is talented, sweet, sexy, and oh so swoony!
Addie, the good girl-preacher’s daughter, just wants to get through college, and make her own future. When she and Axton meet, sparks fly and the chemistry is undeniable.
Macon is a heartfelt, emotional ride you won’t want to get off of. I was hooked from the first page. I always expect a great read from James, and she just keeps outdoing herself. I loved this on and as usual I will be anxiously waiting for her next release!!!!
This book had me on the edge of my seat from the start to the finish, my anxiety levels were running at an all time high as Axton and Addi had my head spinning. Your emotions run all over as these two struggle with the attraction that they have to each other. Axton a typical bad boy who loves to sin and Addi the pure good girl who is letting her head rule over her heart. This story at times made me want to wish on a falling star to be able to jump inside this book and shake some sense into these two but mainly Addi. Axton stole my heart even though at times his actions made you want to kick his behind. This book is the ultimate love story of what one man will do to prove not only his love but his worth even if it means he may never get his forever. If you haven’t put this on your list to read you need to do it now as I promise you this book will show you that love isn’t perfect and doesn’t always run smoothly but when you find that person that you need to breathe giving up is never an option.
Wow! Marie James’s books just keep getting better and better. I’m totally addicted.
This book was so different to anything I’ve ever read before. I didn’t know what to expect. The storyline had me captivated from the start. I felt every emotion, as if I was standing alongside the characters. I just couldn’t put my kindle down..
Axton’s dream is to become a country singer. To leave Macon and make his way to Nashville. That is until he encounters Adelaide, broken down at the roadside. Her skirt blowing up above her head, with white cotton panties on display..
She turns his whole world upside down, in the blink of an eye. He knows she’s the one and will do anything to make her his…
Can Axton get the woman of his dreams?
I absolutely loved this book!! There were times that I wasn’t sure if I could finish it but the story kept pulling me back. Axton and Addie were perfect together but there was so much miscommunication, tons of emotions, and unspoken things that kept them apart for way too long. A definite must read!
I really loved this novel….it is true love story, that could really happen
….boy meets girl, real life happens, it is reality, choices are made,
What I love about this novel, see the path the characters take with their choices…sadness and regret, happiness and laughter, persistence pays off.
Loved!!!
I really enjoyed this book. Marie James does a wonderful job at writing, and I love every book of hers, they just keep getting better and better.
4.5 Stars
Marie James once again gives you a book that you will not be able to put down. This book gives you more than you anticipate while reading the blurb. Marie delivers just the right amount of angst, but also a couple who are completely opposite from one another. Alli and Ax are completely sweet together but what they must go through is heartbreaking.
The relationship started on the side of the road at least for Ax. Eventually, he broke Alli down and was able to grace her presence as a friend but that I all she would allow. The sexual tension between these two was always boiling but Alli is determined to protect her heart. But can she keep it protected all along the way or will he slip in before she can stop it?
Both these characters made me want to jump into the book and smack them both upside the head and shake them at the same time, wishing they would both just get their heads out of their asses. You will want to hate Axton so much because of the choices he makes but at the same time you want to yell at Alli for the way she responds to his choices. Their choices will have you questioning both of them together every step of the way.
Ok l am totally in love with book and Marie James. If I could give more than 5 stars then this one would have more. I tend to read each story in one sitting then l am left sad because there is no more left. So with that in mind l read this book slowly but still could not put it down. It has country music (which who doesn’t love that), sassiness, happy, sadness, and most importantly love.
Axton college student (sometimes) and also trying to make it in the country music world. Adelaide is collge student (who takes her education very serious) and also is a preachers daughter. She never misses a class and attends church regularly. Axton meets Adelaide and wants her but she doesn’t seem to what him with his player ways. Can these two make a compromise and find love or will Adelaide stay a stubborn girl?
Check out this fabulous book it is freakin amazing. I definitely recommend this book to everyone.
This is my first Marie James book but I’m definitely adding the rest to my TBR!
Axton has always had one goal in mind: get out of Macon and become a big country star. He’s living the life of a local celebrity, a girl always ready to go home with him and never having to pay for a drink. The woman he helps on the side of the road becomes his obsession when she won’t tell him her name. Addie is the daughter of a pastor and while she’s a fan of Ax, she’s not going to be just the next girl warming his bed. The story of their building friendship and their undeniable chemistry had me pulling for them the entire time.
The back and forth between Addie and Axton kept me drawn into this story. I loved that Addie didn’t just fall to his feet like every other woman who came before her. She’s smart, funny, and knows exactly who she is. Axton is a bit of a hot mess but I loved how much he grew from the beginning to the end. I wasn’t prepared for how much this book made me cry but it was balanced by how much I laughed. I felt like I was riding the rollercoaster of emotions right along with them and I never wanted to get off. I can’t wait to see what comes next from this author!
