Very steamy, with strong characters that will make you want to read the other books in this series. It’s different from Howard’s later novels but you get a glimpse at her future style with this one.
I like most of her books. Have read many. I love her writing style and plot lines.
i love this book. i reread this book all the time. i need to get it for my ereader
Mary Elizabeth Potter leads somewhat of a sheltered life, her experience with men is very limited, and has lead her to believe that she just may be single forever. She is hoping that her new adventure in Wyoming will provide a more exciting life for her, and maybe put her in the presence of a man that’s worthy of her affections. After arriving in Wyoming, and getting settled into her new teaching job she notices a student who is struggling some, so she decides to intervene and see if she can help him, which lands her on the doorstep of Mr. Wolf Mackenzie. He is a stubborn man, with a bit of a chip on his shoulder, and he is quite adamant that his son doesn’t need her help…but she just isn’t ready to give up on them.
Wolf Mackenzie is a jaded man, because he has had a rough go of things lately, he spent time in jail for a crime he didn’t commit and it’s left him angry and on the fight. He is surrounded by a town of people that hate and distrust him just because he is Native American. His son is struggling to find his way in school, and he is quite certain it is because of him, which leads him to believe his son would be better off not going to school at all. So, when his son’s new teacher shows up on his doorstep he is ready to send her packing without even listening to what she has to offer, his willingness to let others in is almost non-existent, but she isn’t backing down, and is pretty insistent on helping his son. So he reluctantly gives in, and they come to an agreement.. not realizing this little agreement just might help him out too!
This was a charming little read that captured my attention right from the start, and had me flying right through the pages in hopes of finding a well deserved happy ending…and staying up well past my bedtime just to find it, and it was well worth the loss of the sleep!! It has been a while since I have read something from this author, and so I was really looking forward to this read, and I am happy to report she did not disappoint!! I thoroughly enjoyed meeting these two well crafted characters and I am quite certain that if you give them a chance they will win you over too!! Highly recommend this entertaining little tale, it’s sure to warm your heart and put a smile on your face!!

The entire Mckenzie series is a must read. Line them up in order and enjoy.
This is one of the best books Linda Howard has ever written. I have read it time and time again. In fact, all of the Mackenzies’ are great. It is a love story, but it has an element of mystery to it. The same for all the books. They are standalone books. The other 4 are about the children.
This is One of my all time favorite books. I have re-read it so many times I lost count
