After separating herself from the oppressive cult where she was raised, Mackenzie Soeurs has two dreams: to give her son Riley a better life than she had, and to live in peace, as far from the harsh God of her past as she can get. At least that was the plan until her son got hauled to jail for theft and she lost the mother she never truly understood. In the darkest moments of her life, Mac finds … finds herself surrounded by a group of Christian women she can’t understand and a handsome man, willing to take her son under his wing.
Dane Cooper, Garfield’s former bad boy and groom left at the altar, can’t deny his initial attraction to Mackenzie. Neither can he resist the urge from God to mentor her delinquent son. How can he guard his battered heart and still give Riley the same second chance he was given?
When Jesse, Charley, Randy, and Alex signed up for Mac’s first fitness class, they were looking for someone to whip them into physical shape. What they found was a woman bound by a cruel history, suffering through a tragic present, and in desperate need of a friend…or four.

A great book!
I enjoyed the faith building and the friendships.
A book with strong Christian characters.
Loved it
I loved that Mac escaped from a cult, where she was treated horrendously. With a lot of help from wonderful friends, she learns that God is real and that she is loved. I loved this story,
Mac is easy reading, fun and inspiring. It is a realistic story with the way of salvation clearly and simply outlined. Yet it is not a preachy story. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Mac and look forward to reading more of Sharon’s stories.
Thank you for sharing this blessing!!!
Beautiful
What a beautiful story of starting over in life and finding faith, love and friendship. I have read their books from Sharon and each draws you in.
One of the best books I’ve read this year!
This book quite realistically builds on the theme of a woman raised in a religious community where women have no rights and no respect and trying to raise a son after her arranged husband’s death. How she breaks free is a good story.
If you want to become lost in reading without having to concentrate, and enjoy wholesome reading.
I loved it
I loved how a newcomer to town could be “adopted” by such a wonderful group of people. True Christian friends are good to have! I look forward to reading the additional books in the series
A very enjoyable story about Mac and her son as they move out into the world from The Body and finding freedom both in spirit and life! Learning TN the l8ve of sisters and friends.
Good message and was hard to put down.
Enjoyed reading it but felt it ended abruptly.
A little different story line that the norm. Mac was raised in a cult and also married within it. After her husband dies she leaves the cult and moves across the country with her son, Riley. He is having trouble adjusting to life outside the cult and gets into trouble with the police. Mac meets handyman, Dane. Dane offers to help with Riley after Riley tries to steal tools from Dane. Mac has trouble trusting men and God because of the way women were treated and the Bible was twisted when she lived within the cult. Dane helps Mac and Riley learn to trust in God and men. I enjoyed the story and would read other books by this author.
Relate able to personal experience, loved it!
I plan to read others in the series.
I really liked this book All her books are so good. I was a little disappointed at the ending though. It seemed abrupt. I wish there had been more to it, maybe can epilogue..
Good read but ended to soon , didn’t like ending.
