After separating herself from the oppressive cult where she was raised, Mackenzie Soeurs has two dreams: to give her son Riley a better life than she had, and to live in peace, as far from the harsh God of her past as she can get. At least that was the plan until her son got hauled to jail for theft and she lost the mother she never truly understood. In the darkest moments of her life, Mac finds … finds herself surrounded by a group of Christian women she can’t understand and a handsome man, willing to take her son under his wing.
Dane Cooper, Garfield’s former bad boy and groom left at the altar, can’t deny his initial attraction to Mackenzie. Neither can he resist the urge from God to mentor her delinquent son. How can he guard his battered heart and still give Riley the same second chance he was given?
When Jesse, Charley, Randy, and Alex signed up for Mac’s first fitness class, they were looking for someone to whip them into physical shape. What they found was a woman bound by a cruel history, suffering through a tragic present, and in desperate need of a friend…or four.

It was an eye opener to the effects of some cults and the struggles to join into a healthy, normal life.
It has real thoughts and feeling not all is well all the time. Let God lead even when it hurts.
I loved the story. I especially enjoyed they way her friends interpreted lines from the Bible.
Liked this book. Didn’t want it to end
Liked the book very much
If you like happily ever after, this book is for you. While I enjoy reading stories based on the redeeming power of God, the main character’s major issues are all solved within two weeks(!) as she and her four new friends- all women with masculine names- band together.
I love to read but more than often there seem to be a need for some authors to fill their stories with steamy scenes that just detract from the story. It is so refreshing to find an author who can write a great story and keep it clean. I loved this book. It kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next. Out of necessity I had to put it down once but the second I picked it back up I stayed until I finished (Even though it was only a couple of hours before I needed to get up!) A good clean read. I will definitely try another book by this author
A very good read. I enjoyed this book very much. It was hard to put down, interesting to the last word, I would love to read more books from this author.
Good read.
Well written, fun read
This was such a beautiful story. Written so well that it was hard to put down. I loved how the girlfriends were so caring & kind & willing to share their relationship with the Lord so freely. It showed just how blessed we are to have loving & meaningful friendships because of Jesus.
It was an interesting Christian love story and very true to life.
I am scoring this as a “haunting” book because Mac carried a heavy emotional weight thoughout her new life. Her choice of places to resettle was God’s choice of a deeply prayerful community. Read prayerfully, thoughtfully and educationally! KLS
I really enjoyed the storyline and I thought the characters were presented well.
It was very interesting, true to life, sad and kept me going back for more.
Sweet and gentle
