New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Molly McAdams delivers the first captivating, stand-alone novel in her REDEMPTION series spin-off—the REBEL series . . .Official blurb coming soon.
I once asked Molly McAdams which books of hers I should read and this is the book she recommended.
So, nice choice.
I wasn’t sure what I expected when I hit play on this audio. I was in it for the long haul, I had a 2300 mile trip ahead of me and I was determined to knock out some of my ridiculous TBR.
And Lyric was already sitting there on my audiobook shelf, downloaded and ready to go, just waiting for me to hit play.
So I did.
Now is a good time to tell you I didn’t read the blurb. Just took Molly at her word and dove right in. There’s nothing like blind trust to really get you in the mood for a book (although why I trust her is beyond me, the last time I read one of her books she left me gutted on the floor).
So, Lyric.
Wow. I like the detail, the characters, the love, the devotion, the…Wait, what??! The mafia?! Is this a mafia book?
Oh, yes, yes it is. And the twists and turns and lies and deceit that happen in this book left my jaw on the floor.
She got me. Why I am so surprised is beyond me. I should know to not trust Molly with my reading choices. I should have known better.
But here we are.
I’m moving on to book two because this book was fantastic.
Like I said, if you want the swooniest romance mixed with a bit of mafia blood–okay, a lot of mafia blood–then this is the book for you.
Just know that Maxon James is going to win your heart. You’re gonna wish you were every lyric he had ever written too.
And because I’m me, I want the spin-off story of Gabe. This ten years of waiting through his eyes. Because I bet that shit is twisted.

So glad to finally learn Libby’s story! As a fan of the Redemption series, I have had a hard time saying goodbye or ignoring that I need so much more. Molly McAdams must have felt the same way because…Lyric.
Lyric is a second chance romance in a way. It’s a rock star and a mafia romance book all in one. But it freaking works! It’s not cliched or corny. It’s serious and real in its intensity. Lyric is hopelessly romantic with darkness encroaching the happy. It’s the monster under the bed.
My eager and ridiculously ecstatic self is jumping up and down because Lyric is only the beginning of this series. It means many more chances to catch up with my crew.

Ahhh! I have been EAGERLY anticipating this spin-off series ever since Molly McAdams first announced it shortly after the release of her final installment in her addictively captivating Redemption series…perhaps my favorite series of 2017 I might add!
After inhaling the first installment in the Rebel series, I am even more excited to be back in the Borello world because my goodness this family knows how to consume ones heart! Firefly aka Dare and Lily’s story is my absolute FAVORITE Molly McAdams’ book ever (although let me just say that they are all EQUALLY amazing), so color me surprised when I learned that Libby (Dare’s sister) was getting the first book in this brand new series! Let’s just say that I was certainly a VERY happy reader!
Unlike Molly McAdams previous releases, I was a little nervous going into this book for the sheer fact that I have never been so invested in a group of characters as much as I was when it came to the Borello Family. For the past year these characters have controlled my whole body and soul and now that it came time to revisit them I wasn’t sure if they would still live up to my expectations. HOWEVER…I should know by now never to doubt this author because she can do NO WRONG. This story just helped me fall deeper in LOVE with this dark and twisted family!
Lyric aka Libby and Maxon story was a beautifully raw and captivating tale that will capture any readers heart. This one although filled with suspense had a completely different feel to it then the Redemption series. Not only did we get that suspense element that we all love and crave, but drama and mystery was in full swing from beginning to end. Oh and we certainly cannot forget the ANGST! SO MUCH FREAKING ANGST that readers won’t know what to do with themselves.
This book was EVERYTHING and I can’t wait for the next installment because I have a feeling that we are getting closer to Einstein’s story and her happily ever after…something she wholeheartedly deserves! Oh please Molly McAdams tell me her story is next…PLEASE!

Molly, what the hell did you just do to my heart?!?! This book was so, so good!!!
Lyric is the first book in Molly McAdam’s new Rebel series. But here’s the deal, you kind of need to read Redemption series or things will not make sense to you as Lyric is a spinoff of the Redemption series. Although my blog partner did not read Molly’s Redemption series and still enjoyed Lyric. It’s just that both series are so intertwined that, in my opinion, you real do need to the Redemption series first.
I have read every single one of Molly’s books. She is the master of puling you in then throwing a twisted twist at you that you love-hate her at the moment. She totally does it again with Lyric. I was screaming at my kindle!! My kids had no idea what was wrong with me. Nothing was wrong at all…. Okay maybe the thing that was wrong was that Molly threw me into a tizzy again! But how could I explain that to my 12 year olds (yes twins…)?!?! I couldn’t even speak after reading Lyric!!! It was that good!
Libby & Maxon fell in love when they were young. She stayed in their hometown while he went on to become a famous rock star.
Fast forward 10 years…
Maxon is ready to make the decision to stay home and fight for Libby. She is not having it at first. But as time goes on, he wears her down. But, someone has already decided that they are going to marry Libby…. Oh yeah, and he didn’t tell her! Here comes all the twists… I am NOT telling you more than that. You would hate me if I did. Just know that this is where you should really have the background from her Redemption series.
Molly, why oh why do you kill me every time?!?! I really love the twists and turns that you write into your work. It really sets you apart from any other author out there.
Thank you for this book! It was a great escape in a crazy world that I have. I can’t wait to see what other books you have coming our way in this series.

I’m so happy we got more Borellos. I just love this mafia world, characters, writing, setting and how author just captivates you with everything. From the moment I start reading I was pulled into story and couldn’t put it down. I love that this book was mixed with mafia and rockstars.
Libby and Maxon were amazing. I love the way he really understands her and knows the real her; how patient he was. Libby and Maxon’s journey was filled with such an emotional roller coaster ride. I love this tale of friends to lovers and second chance at love. I love Libby’s spirit and how feisty she was but also her independence and a want to live her life the way she wants. She’s a beautiful rebel, strong and real heroine but also vulnerable. Maxon was a sweetheart. even though he is a rockstar, he isn’t typical rockstar – playboy womanizer or drowning himself in alcohol. He loved Libby all his life. I love how devoted, loyal and true to himself he is but also to Libby. He’s her protector. Maxon and Libby melted my heart, made me swoon, made me cry, frustrated me at times. Most of I loved their love. When I read their story I had a feeling like they were star crossed lovers, that their timing always was off even though it was clear how much they want to be together and love each other. I love that they are both flawed characters, but also they accept their flaws and complement each other.
Read this book, you won’t be disappointed. Also read Redemption series and see how it all started

Book 1 in a new series from Molly McAdams and what a way to start a series, this is certainly one emotional roller coaster that you will want to ride because it’s the type of book that leaves you with goosebumps, it will have your emotions all over the place but it’s a book you will want to read.
What can I tell you about Maxon James and Libby Borello without giving too much of the story away well they certainly have a story to tell, they have explosive chemistry and they have a love for each other that is tested to the limits. A couple who have feelings for each since they were teenagers but the timing was never right, Maxon was always on tour with his band until now but what happens when rock stars collide with the mob ………
This book is capable of many things , it will break you and then it will mend you, it has passion as well as banter, misunderstandings and tension all add to this truly captivating story. A beautifully written love story that makes me think this is going to be one amazing series.

HOLY MOLY!!! Molly is on fire when it comes to these romantic suspense stories. I devoured this book. I didn’t want to put it down.
Lyric is the first book in Molly’s spin off Rebel Series. This is a series that is going to focus on secondary characters that you meet in her Redemption Series. As with the Redemption Series, Molly takes you on a true rollercoaster ride of emotions in this Rebel Series. She had me laughing at times, swooning, yelling at my kindle and falling in love. This book is truly AMAZING!!!!
I won’t be able to talk about the storyline much at all. This is a story you need to read and feel for yourself. Yes I said feel, because with any Molly McAdams book her writing is so captivating that you feel everything her characters feel. Lyric is a standalone novel that is told in Dual POV, but I honestly think that you need to read the Redemption Series first…at least Firefly (Book 2) I think this book could get kind of confusing because of some of things that are brought up, kind of carry over from Firefly. Plus the characters in this book are all introduced to you in Firefly. I truly believe to get the full experience of this side of Molly McAdams this series and her Redemption series should be read in order.
This is very well written and will suck you in right from the start. That is what I love about Molly’s books, she doesn’t mess around, she gets you into the thick of things right from the start. You won’t want to put this book down. I still love the amount of time and effort Molly puts into plotting and researching her stories, because to me that makes them feel more real and relatable. You forget you are reading a work of fiction when you read her books.
I know this review is short and I apologize for that, but all I can really say is READ THIS BOOK!!!! You won’t be sorry.

Another sweeping book by Molly MacAdams and this time she managed to overcome in the suspense. I do not think I’ve ever been as tense about reading as reading Lyric. Starting with this cover that even just having the girl was splendor to the idea of the plot and passes well the somber atmosphere of the mob.
Dare, Libby and Einstein together with Kieran are my favorite characters throughout the series. I was already looking forward to Libby’s story and even with all the heavy feelings of her troubles, Molly managed to bring a luscious pace to the book and a strong musicality for Lyric.
Libby has always been the rebellious daughter of the Borello mafia and thanks to this ends up paying a high price, needing to give up a normal life and a simple and carefree love.
Maxon is a rock star , a mysterious badboy who had his heart conquered from a a strong woman and never hid from anyone what he feels, even without understanding Libby’s resistance, he surrenders to the little that the Rebel offers him.
The book is divided into a prologue presenting the situation of the couple, 6 parts as the story progresses to a climax in suspense and then I was presented with an epilogue so beautiful and sonorous that I am so moved til now ….
I loved too much ….

Who does that?!?! Who writes about secret mafia groups and still manages to leave her readers a blubbery mess. Molly McAdams that’s who.
How far would you go for the one you loved?
I was so excited when I heard we were getting a full length novel of Libby and Maxon. And McAdams didn’t disappoint. I was also excited we were getting a spin off series to the Redemption series. I can’t get enough of these characters and this side of McAdams writing. I loved how McAdams changed the rolls in this book in a way. Where the female became the protector and male was vulnerable and showed and emotional side. Don’t get me wrong Maxon had a dominate side. But it was nice to see his vulnerability and love for Libby shine. And I loved seeing Libby’s strength even when she felt weak. This was a great read!!! I can’t wait to read the rest of this series.

Lyric is the first book in the Rebel series and is 5 + STARS all the way. I have a very good, ex blogger friend to thank for me following Molly McAdams.
This is Elizabeth “Libby” Borello and Maxon James story. Lyric has some incredible twists and turns that I did not see the them coming. I had to pick up my chin from the floor because of the twists. Lyric draws you in and sucks the ability to do anything else but read this book.
I wasn’t sure if this was a Rockstar or a Maifioso book. Well how about a little of both. Maxon is in a band and he writes a lot of songs all about Libby. Libby’s father was a mob boss so she grew up in that environment. Libby kept trying to distance herself from Maxon to keep him safe and there is much more story that you need to read this book, it’s a must read. Loved it and I can’t wait for the next book in this series. Lyric is very worthy of 5 + Stars.
