“My name is Alex, and I am a werewolf.”As a boy, I was trapped halfway between human and wolf. Rylee rescued me and I became the first outcast to join her pack. In the Battle Against Orion, I sacrificed my life for hers and became the pillar which holds the Veil separating the human world and the supernatural world, closed. I kept the demons from spilling into the human world and left Rylee and … the human world and left Rylee and our pack behind to live on.
But something is calling me back to the land of the living and the journey to get there terrifies me. I must pass through the darkest levels of the Veil to prove my worth, and will come face to face with my past and all of those I’ve lost along the way. My deepest fear is that I’m not strong enough and I will prove unworthy.
If I don’t at least try though, I’ll remain forever with the dead and separated from my pack.
Eternity is a long time, but this decision and journey may very well tear me apart before I reach either destination. May the gods have mercy on my soul.

Lynchpin: The Rylee Adamson Epilogues #4
The final book in the Rylee Epilogues & the final time we’ll see her as a main player in these books. She’s had her time and now it’s time for her to be a Wife, Mother & Protector. Others have to step up and take on her Mantle with all of the love, leadership & compassion she, Liam & the fallen Heroes taught them – IF Alex can break all the levels of the Veil and Lark can reset the World!!
After Pamela opened the Veil & called him back home he felt the pull North to her. Giselle spoke to him, explained why he shouldn’t do it, but he was clear, if Pam felt that this was the course they needed to take it would be for a reason, not on a whim! She closed her eyes, then started talking. The heroes wouldn’t understand & would try to stop him, she looked him in eyes & unstrapped her curved blades putting them on him. She told him he’d need them & to run, hard & fast! So he did.
Each level had challenges but also taught him something about himself or about what they might face down the line! He got to speak to past friends & enemies, which was even more enlightening. Luca, an Alpha was still chasing him. He learned something awful about Marcella & Pamela in the future that nearly crippled him, he just hopes he can stop it! His trip to the past, present & future was terrifying and nearly changes his course but his heart, like always, is strong & steadfast, he knows what he has to do!
Surviving is only the beginning for him. He has to convince his family that Pamela & Lark are on the truest path, but that they’ll be needed to hold strong for them & what is coming. He was the lynchpin in the Veil and, to a certain extent, in this family, but right now he places to be and a Witch to find!! He is whole & he is strong.
I love Alex so much. He’s so kind hearted, always. The emotions pour through the pages of this book. His loss broke me, I couldn’t read anymore Mayer books for nearly a year afterwards! I’m so glad to have him back. Rylee bawling was unexpected. The visualisation of the Veil levels & it breaking were amazing. I’m sad to see the end but I’m excited to see what’s next too.

Alex’s story of his journey through the Veil seems mellow even with all the dangers he encounters. The battles are detailed in both the mental and physical sides. Another good read by Shannon.
This was an amazing story I’ve been waiting and hoping for impatiently. It’s not that it wasn’t available but because I’ve read them in order! I loved Alex since the beginning of Rylee’s story and am so glad that he is back! Fantastic reading!
