I took over the role of President with pride in my heart. I ran the club the way I thought our old president, Savage would have wanted.I wanted this club to thrive, which it has. Something was off though. My heart was missing something I didn’t even know it needed. Ariel showed up lost and broken in her own ways. Victim of abuse for most of her life, she still held a spark of life in her.She came … of life in her.
She came into my world and ripped it apart.
Her secrets are harder for her to accept than they are for me.
Our hearts made us feel things that neither of us was sure we could feel.
When all of her secrets come to light, I push her away for her own good but she pushes back.
That headstrong girl was never supposed to be a part of my world but now I don’t want her out of it.
Keeping her will come with a price.
Am I willing to pay it?

Q (Quinn) took over as club president after having to kill his best friend the previous president. That was sad and a shocker for me in the previous book. Now Q is trying to do right by the club but there’s a lot going on, stealing drugs from the DEA and other dark thinkgs goin on in the club. Ariel and her twin manage to escape the compound. They were treated pretty bad there and landed in Q’s lap literally. HEA.
Even though I didn’t have an ugly girl cry at the ending I did feel slightly disappointed. I mean I wanted the HEA but I secretly kept expecting an unexpected ending.
In book 2 of Trejo’s Dark Duet, Quinn was Savage’s best friend and is now the Prez of the MC. He meets Ariel and her sister Ava who were brought up in a religious compound where the girls were abused.
Trejo loves a good dark tale. Especially one where our main characters are broken and raw, oftentimes so much so that they themselves don’t know it at first. She also excels at the antiheroes. Q and many other of her characters would take a bullet for those they are loyal to but those who are supposed to be “good” or society’s definition of good tends to be Trejo’s definition of bad.
This was another win for Erin Trejo and all its angsty goodness.
He wasn’t a good guy. Hell if he thought there was something worth redeeming in him it died when he had to take out his best friend. It was the rules. No matter if what he did was what was best for the club or not, it was the rules. She hated them all. This couldn’t be right. She had to protect her sister and that was getting harder each day. Now that’s all changed. But are this violent men any better than what they left? This author is a beast. She makes the abnormal seem alright and the unacceptable. . . well normal. She makes you feel oh so wrong about loving her guys but they have a way of pulling at your heartstrings. They are all damaged in their own way but when they see some blue skies open up with possibilities they take them. Their club may not be all above the law but they do have a moral barometer and it has the cult in it’s sights. Beyond that they will have to figure out what’s best for the girls even if that means letting them go, after all they can’t possibly let their lying hearts make the decision. Heartbreaking, disturbing, and oh so good.
This was a very intense book which is the second book in The Dark Duet. The book had lots of action and drama but also love. Quinn is heartbroken because of stuff from the first book of The Dark Duet but when he meets Ariel he starts to feel better. Ariel is also surviving stuff from her past. Together they are able to mend each other’s hearts. Love this author.
I totally fell in love with Q and Ariel, and Ava and Stoney. What an epic story, this duet had all the feels, wonderful characters and heat and romance even for a MC. Beautiful imperfect characters I got lost in for a short time. 5 stars are not enough! Thank you Erin!

This story picks up a few years after Dark Savage and I would recommend you read that book first, it maybe not 100% necessary but it would give you a better insight.
Quinn is carrying a heavy heart after what he had to do at the end of Savage’s story, Ariel is living with her sister in a nasty cult where they were taken as children and she know’s what happens there is not right.
Once again this is a gritty story with what could be for some a difficult subject of abduction and abuse. Alongside that though is the rebuilding of lives and Quinn brings light back into Ariel’s life and she to him. The course of true love never ran smooth though and Erin is not known for pulling her punches so hang on for a rough ride.
Another great addition to this genre, just sort the editing Erin
I was almost afraid to read this book…Dark Savage broke my heart. But, I’m so glad I did!! Quinn and Ariel are so deeply damaged and both deeply need each other. I loved the twisty, unexpected dark turns this story takes, but so glad these two found each other. If you are looking for an emotional ride that is truly heart wrenching, Erin Trejo delivers with this duet.
I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
Oh Man! Ariel and Quinn are lost and both alone when they meet and when things come to light about Ariel he wants to help her and keep her far away. But is that what she wants or what he thinks she need. This picks up where the first left off. And all the emotions and a few twist and turns and heat and steam you won’t ne disappointed one bit with this book.
Holy moly! Erin Trejo is something else! I hadn’t quite recovered from reading book 1 when I took on book 2. Years have passed since the final scenes in book one and Q is now president of Dark Savage MC and Stoney is his VP. Ariel and Ava are victims of horrendous abuse at the hands of a dangerous and devious cult. When their paths cross, the world as they know it will never be the same. Q believes himself incapable of love; giving or receiving it and when Ariel stubbornly tests those beliefs, something beautiful grows. Despite all the obstacles that face them, including the possibility of letting go, Q and Ariel, along with Ava and Stoney find the courage to grab hold of what they want and more importantly, what they need. I loved the way this book played out and it was well worth the emotional roller coaster ride. Once again, Ms. Trejo. well done!
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Absolutely loved it!
Q doesn’t think that he deserves the love of a good woman, but the more I read the more I realized he does. He has a gentler side that no one gets to see, until Ariel. Ariel needs to be saved and she thinks Q is gonna be the one to do it.
I loved the tension between them. It made them coming together that much more amazing. This was a great ending to the Dark duet.
With Erin Trejo, sometimes you don’t know what you’re going to get, aside from darkness. I was left speechless and in tears from Savage so I came in reading this one with some wariness. But I loved Ariel and Quinn’s story. We also get to see Stoney and Ave, Ariel’s sister, find themselves with each other. You get the darkness that comes with the MC and Quinn trying to move on from the what happened in Savage. But with Ariel, he get the love he needed and the light he thought he would never find. This does show what happens in some cults and the repercussions those that are brought up in that culture face. Ariel and Ava had some growing up to do very early on because of what they went through but they still moved on and were strong women willing to do what they needed to in order to move forward. I loved this!
Wow, what a perfect book to follow Dark Savage. I loved and hated “Q” Quinn and Ariel’s story. The pain and trauma that she went through was just beyond words but Erin Trejo treated her story with kindness and love. Quinn’s story was just as hard but in a different way. He had to allow his heart to open to Ariel and that was something he protected as much as he protected his brotherhood. In this book I was shown that being broken doesn’t mean you are weak, your broken parts can be your biggest strength. Great story and it just blew me away. Love Love Love this book, wish I could give it a million stars. Highly recommended!!!
Dark And Oh, So Good!!
This is another winner by Erin Trejo. This is book two In the Dark Duet series and it just keeps getting better. Quinn has taken over as Prez after having to do the unthinkable and is trying to deal with the aftermath that shook him to his core.
Ariel and her twin sister, Ava, have lived the life in a cult that kidnapped them only to inflict pain and torture on them since they were three years old. They finally make a break for it and run right into the biker world which is an improvement after what the girls have been through.
I absolutely loved Quinn and Ariel’s story. It was filled with everything I want in my MC reads; lust, bad boy alpha, love and did I mention plenty of steam?! Their journey is one that melts hearts. I’m hoping they will be more of Dark Savages MC because the supporting characters are that good!! Plus I would always love to get another fix of Quinn and Ariel.
Quinn known as Q, is president of the Dark Savages MC. Ariel & twin sister Ava have lived on a compound all their lives.
They have been through hell & when they finally get out this whole lives change.
Follow their story. You won’t be disappointed. A very raw, emotional second book of this duet & excellent Read. It’s not for faint of heart.
Holy Rollercoaster!!! This book will pull your emotions every which way and then some! Kudos Ms. Trejo for a well written book/duet that will stick with me for a very long time. You have written a storyline that not only grasps an MC readers interest but it makes the reader feel everything the characters deal with as if they were right there with them.
Quinn, known to the club as Q, is the prez of the Dark Savage MC. He took over after having to kill the former Prez, his best friend, Savage. Even knowing he did as club rules require that is one killing that weighs heavy on his soul. One night on “club business” Q and his boys find their prey with two girls. Thinking they can get info from the girls they take them back to the clubhouse. Little do they know they have just saved the girls from a lifetime of hell.
The story takes off as Q deals with what’s right and what wrong regarding his captives, as well as what’s best for him and what’s best for the girls. Choices must be made. But what choice is the right one?
This is not a read for the faint of heart but it’s a excellent book/duet that this reader highly recommend! 2 Thumbs Up and 5 Thrilling Stars for Lying Hearts.
I voluntairly reviewed an advanced copy of this book. Amazing!!! This story will pull at your heart, Erin Trejo at her best! Lying Hearts book 2 begins where Dark Savage left off. Quinn is President of the Dark Savage MC, but his heart is heavy regarding his part in the death of Savage as he feels he may not be up to the job. Now he has a club to run as well as recovering all that was taken from them. Ariel and her sister are on the run from a cult and happened to be taken by Quinn. Ariel tells Quinn about the physical and mental abuse they both endured as well as being sheltered from the outside world. The moment Quinn and Ariel meet they have an instant connection. This was an emotional, dark story that is filled with passion, danger, revenge and sadness. With all of these twists and turns, you will be on edge from beginning to the end. This is a fast read and well thought out. Can these two headstrong individuals heal each other and find love at last? Now the Dark Savage Mc is in a fight to protect these women at all costs and stop these men. This is a must read. Hopefully Erin will give us more!!
Q and Ariel both broken souls, looking for someone to repair the damage that was done. Q has always felt unwanted, Ariel has always felt used, but holy when these two are together they finally feel happy. Loved these two, two characters so perfect for each other, especially after what each has been thru.
What a very intense read that will have you on the edge of your seat and reading this book in one setting. This is a must read book that will have you riding the high from this book.
This has a different unique twist in it that I thoroughly enjoyed! Gotta love these MC guys!!
