I like the start of this introduction book.
The characters seem so real and I can connect with them and their personalities. I already know that Kia is in trouble when she went into bar. She seems to think she outsmarted Enzo, the son of a mob boss, but she doesn’t know what she has started. It doesn’t say but I think she will get found out. This book left me with a lot of questions about what happens next. I need to continue on as this book set me up to want to continue and I can’t wait
Intense. Twisted. Riveting. Emotional. Suspenseful. Addictive. Dark. Complex. Jaw-dropping! A great intro for the series. This story brings it ALL! Truly a MUST for your TBR list!
This is a great start to a new series. Lots of lies, secrets, suspense and romance. Ella Miles you write the way I love to read. Lots of action, titillating situations, and angst.

What a dark amazing read that will have you hooked all the way through this short story.
Enzo And Kai’s Story Is A Dark And Twisted Slow Burn That Will Have You On The Edge Of Your Seat. Amazing Twists And Turns!
This is the prequel (book 0.5) of the six part Truth or Lies series. It is incorporated into book one, Taken by Lies, comprising the first ten chapters. Each book reads like a roller coaster, with unexpected gut-clenching twists and turns. Enzo and Kai both grew up in a brutal world, but one was raised in luxury and the other in extreme poverty. They have an undeniable connection, but every time they cross paths or begin to drop their defenses, something seems to pull them apart. There are many questions and many lies, but answers do come with patience. The books are best read back to back since the plot is very complex.
The myth that surrounds the Black name in Miami and beyond is legendary, demanding both fear and respect. Danger defines Mr. Black; ruthless describes him. He rules Miami, where he runs Surrender, an invitation only club where deals are made by the high-powered members of the underground that frequent it. Mr. Black also runs many other clubs in Miami, has a fleet of yachts that he deals with, and runs a security firm. The fleet gives him access to the lawless waters of the ocean as well as the world beyond Miami.
Enzo Black, seventeen, drinks to numb the memories that haunt him. He grew up in comfort and has more money than he will ever need, but his life has not been easy. As the son of Mr. Black, he knows he has an image to maintain. There is no room for feelings for someone like him. He has blood on his hands. His father has trained him in the family business for years, expecting that Enzo might one day take over. His second hands happen to be his two best friends, Langston and Zeke. They all grew up together, so having his trusted friends at his side in a dark world dominated by older and experienced criminals provides a welcome level of comfort. Langston is more brain, while Zeke is more brawn. But both are loyal. They are family.
Katherine Miller, sixteen, hasn’t’ been to school in weeks. She is old enough to opt not to go, so she has been going less and less, choosing to work and steal instead. Food on the table and rent for the trailer she shares with her father rank higher on her list of priorities than her education. First on the list, however, is paying off her father’s debt. She loves her father despite the lack of warmth in their relationship. She remains loyal, even though they’ve had growing pains. Kai’s mother died from cancer when she was small, but she had fought it with everything she had before succumbing to the disease. Her death left Kai’s father with a debt in the millions. The debt collectors have to be paid, and some are shady. Kai knows one day she will have to pay with her body, but she will continue to delay that inevitability as long as possible by stealing.
When Enzo and Kai meet by chance, they both feel electrified. Enzo’s feelings come to life despite himself, and Kai has never been so attracted to a boy before. But when they meet again, the circumstances are not by chance. Enzo has a job to do, and Kai is his job.
Enzo and Kai’s story is dark and brutal. Kai is a pillar of strength, yet always struggling. Enzo is hard and emotionless, yet when near Kai he turns in to a different man altogether, though he fights it. Kai’s presence in his life is a complication and a distraction.
Enzo and Kai’s story is a dark and twisted slow burn that will have you on the edge of your seat. The story is nicely written and plot-driven. The plot is well developed. The twists and turns in this story are amazing. You won’t see what is coming! The characters are carefully crafted. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Enzo and Kai. I rate this book 4.5 stars.

This is my first read by this author. And it won’t be my last.
This is a great start to this series. Looking forward to see how it ends.
Just Awesome books!! Cant Wait for the next one!
Great prequel. Meeting someone and finding them interesting is an amazing thing in life, but then finding out they are the target your father wants you to dispose of. Enzo wants nothing more than to be rid of his fathers thumb, but he can’t complete this task without breaking his heart in the meantime. Kai just wants to be safe for once in her life. After meeting Enzo and feeling the electricity she finds out he is supposed to kill her. Can she still have feelings for a boy who is supposed to end her life?
This story is a tale of two broken souls living in survival mode at a young age. Kai is 16 yo and a skilled pickpocket/thief surviving on the street with barely enough after paying her father’s debts. Kai is 17 yo and the son of a wealthy, powerful mafia boss of an empire where he was trained to be an assassin and he despises his father. Kai and Enzo path cross when she picks Enzo pockets and he is assigned one kill for his freedom. His assignment: kill Kai Miller but he’s questioning his father motives for wanting Kai dead that he’s unable to carry out the orders.
Lured by Lies set the path that these two will venture on just to survive… it was so intense and dark yet enticing. This is a great start to an awesome series with a different twist.
A Review of Lured By Lies by Ella Miles
Kai and Enzo – 5 Stars
This may be a short book, but man does the author pack a lot into it. Now, on to read the next part of their story.

Oh my goodness! This is a great story and I need to know what happens next! The story is very exciting and different. I love the main characters. There is so much intrigue. There is an unusual love attachment that has formed that I need to find out what comes of it. The author writes where you feel so much emotion. I will be following this author and looking forward to reading more from her too.
Teaser, I have a love-hate relationship with them. They always give you just enough background to setup the plot for the main series but leave you hang on an epic cliffhanger since you only just get to know the characters. These does have the males for a good series.
Great prequel to what promises to be an incredible series! I’m not wild about the beginning ages of Kai and Enzo. They are much too world-wise for their ages. That being said, they do progress to a more believable age in the next book.
This is the prequel to the beginning of a game of who is stronger and can win and survive. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to start this series because this ends on a cliffhanger and is a dark story. So if you don’t like cliffhangers wait and get the series so you can read at one time. This is a dark mysterious beginning filled with betrayal, lies, twists, danger, secrets, suspense and drama. A well written story about Enzo and Kai’s life.
~And then she walked into his bar…~
—>>> This series definitely is starting off with a bang! Trailer-raised Kai walks into the bar for her next mark, desperate to rid the final debt for her father. She runs into Enzo, and her survivalist instincts are fascinating to him as he observes her, as well as her spirit and confidence. When they meet again, however, it is Enzo who has a debt to pay, consisting of one more task and mark to appease his father before he can be freed. And it involves the same girl he let get away with so much earlier.
These two young main characters have very developed traits already, and hopefully, whatever good left in them, whatever fight fight they have learned will remain with them for what is sure to come in the next books.
Short intense read, full of suspense, intrigue, hot tension!! I can’t wait to read the next book! What a cliffhanger!
I’m not much into dark romance but this prequel intrigued me and now I want to see what happens next.
This is the beginning of a brand-new series by this author and what a start it is! This book ends on a huge cliffhanger, which shouldn’t be too much of a surprise as it’s meant to introduce and entice readers to follow the new series. This does contain some dark issues and possible triggers for people but if you love this author’s previous books then that won’t be a surprise either and you shall be able to handle them and even look forward to them! I am seriously getting hooked on the author’s style, plot and character development, she does love to tease her readers! Hold on tight as it looks like we are in for another doozy of a read!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout but also got it from Amazon as well as it’s just that good!
I can’t wait for the next book to come out. This one left a lot of questions and I want to know where the story goes.

This fast-paced prequel gives the promise of a dark and gripping series to come. Beware, the main characters are currently 16 and 17 years old. They have both led tough lives in the short time they have been alive and are much more mature than their age would suggest. They’ve been exposed to, and involved in, so much violence that they have become immune to it.
If all you needed to graduate high school were street smarts, Kai (Katherine/Jocelyn) probably could have graduated at the age if 10. She is a survivor and runs on survival instincts every day. She puts her father before herself and it costs her. Enzo is submersied in the violent life. Like Kai, he is trapped. All he wants is freedom. The attraction between the two is instant and strong. There’s just one little problem. He’s been sent to kill her.
The prequel does end on a cliffhanger. Thankfully, we don’t have too long to wait for book one to be released. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
