Gwen Miller may be a human, but she has no problem taking a stand against her own kind. She’s going to testify against the teenage boy she saw viciously assault a lone shifter female—and no amount of pressure from the boy’s wealthy family will make her back down. But when the harassment turns violent, help comes in the form of a lean, toned wolf with winter-gray eyes.
As a guest at Gwen’s inn, … Gwen’s inn, shifter enforcer Zander Devlin can’t help but notice that the fierce and leggy brunette is in serious trouble. Since she’s putting herself at risk for one of his kind, keeping her safe is the least he can do. That’s not the only reason Zander wants her close. He desires her, even as the wolf inside him backs away from her. But his feral instincts are hard to keep down, and as they take shape, they’re harder for Gwen to resist. Then again, embracing them could be the only thing that could save her life.

This one was probably my favorite of BOTH of this author’s shifter series. We finally get a human mate! Awesome!
This is the third book in the Mercury Pack series, but this series is intertwined with Wright’s Phoenix Pack series. Both series are incredibly formulaic, yet somehow it works for me as I’ve purchased them all in audio and have listened multiple times. They’re funny, emotional, sweet, s-e-x-y as heck, irreverent, and sometimes downright corny.
I enjoyed this one quite a bit. I think having such a significant part of the book in another location as well as the addition of a lot of new secondary characters really helped this one feel more unique. I also liked the addition of a human fated-mate for Zander and the fact that Gwen was incredibly strong & capable in her own right. The pacing as well as the balance between romance & action/suspense was more to my preference as well.
Book 3
I will admit this felt like a long book for me. The book did need the length to explain a lot of back story and who people are to the FMC Gwen and once mercury wolves turned up at the B&B things move on quickly.
Zander has a really rubbish childhood especially with a self centred twin brother that feels he’s entitled to every but isn’t.
Gwen also has a really rubbish childhood and eventually is fostered by Yvonne who owns the B&B that is suppose to be haunted.
I loved Donnie, Gwen foster brother who is crazy and thinks government is out to get everyone.
I did enjoy this book but it was more a plodder for me and I prefer the book being more based around the Mercury pack and the kids.
Looking forward to Bracken story next
Whew, this is a tough one, it took me awhile to finish this. I like it, it was a good read but I didn’t love it. The plot was good, it was still entertaining and the battle scene was instense. I just had a hard time connecting with Gwen and Zander.
I also love that the Mercury pack consists of wolves, seers, margay and now a human…
Another good thing is the change of scenery and the ghosts
Still this is an okay book and I’ll still recommend this to others.
Book 3 and it did not disappoint! Back with the Mercurt wolves, this time following Zander as he goes to get his uncle’s will read. We are introduced to Rory (Zander’s twin). Its shocking how different their personalities are. We also get to meet Gwen, and learn what issues shes having to deal with. Good thing her adoptive family runs a B&B and Zander steps in to help her. These 2 characters clicked very well together and I love how much the author incorporates previous couples. I am interested in th stories of some of the characters we just met, so off to the next Mercury Pack book 🙂
I freaking loved it!
This is the 3rd book in the wonderful tale of those Mercury wolves. In this story we have Zander and Gwen and what fabulous couple! I freaking loved them. Gwen saw that a shifter was being abused by some humans and reported it to the local sheriff and he did nothing. She took it to the shifter council and she is awaiting the time to go before them and tell them what truly happened. Needless to say that the culprits behind the beating are pressuring Gwen to change her statement and she refuses. What ensues is just fantastic. Gwen is a brave and fearless human who due to circumstances of her upbringing was in a very intolerable situation, which led to her being placed with a foster family at the age of 8. Zander ends up staying at the B&B place that she manages and lives in with her foster family, due to his Uncle passing away and him having to be present to hear out the request of said Uncle. This story is filled with action, betrayal, bloody shifters, an alpha male who finds his true mate in a human named Gwen and great sex scenes!!! I truly loved this one and cannot wait for more from Ms. Wright. 4 .5 stars!!!!
OMG! I’m loving this series so much! I never expected when I started this series that the enforcers in the Mercury pack would be so dominant, hot and intense! But they are and I’m loving each moment of it. After reading and liking ‘Force of temptation (book 2) so very much, I was very curious about the third book ‘Lure of oblivion’. Would Zander be just as intense and dominant like Jesse or would he be sweeter? And to my delight Zander was even more dominant and intense than Jesse. I’m soooooooo looking forward to Bracken’s book!!
Family should keep you save and love you as a child. Sadly that isn’t always the case. Both Gwen and Zander had a difficult childhood, a childhood where they were both emotional hurt by the people who should love them the most. Luckily, both of them found love and safety with a ‘new’ family but the emotional wounds and distrust of feelings are still there.
Zander is finally where he wants to be. He’s an enforcer (together with his two best friends) in a wolf pack where everyone respect each other and have each other back no matter what. So he’s very surprised when he meets human Gwen and feels an interest in her. He’s even more surprised about the way that his wolf is behaving around her. When he discovers that Gwen is fighting against some powerful men, he wants to help and protect her. But he never expected that he would fall for Gwen. Can he keep her safe for the bad guys? And can he convince Gwen that he wants more than a fling with her?
I loved both characters in the story very much. Gwen may be a woman and a human but she certainly knows how to fight the bad guys, physical and verbally. She was also loyal and caring. And Zander, what a dominant and intense character he turned out to be. Just like his wolf. This story wasn’t only about Zander and Gwen but also about Zander’s wolf and Gwen and I adored that.
This story is again told in both POV’s. I had also lot of fun with the second characters, especially Gwen’s family. The interaction and the love between them was great to see.
The writer Suzanne Wright wrote again a wonderful and fun story and I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.
Lure of Oblivion was a good solid read for me. I would expect no less of Suzanne Wright. She is one of my favorite authors and her books always hit the good spot. I will say that though I enjoyed this read something kept it from being a 5 star read for me. I honestly can’t put a finger on what kept this read from wowing me but something was missing for me. I loved Gwen. I thought she was totally bad for a human. I liked Zander a lot. I didn’t love him but I really liked him. I think I was a little put off that he was kind of standoffish to Gwen at the start. However when Gwen and Zander got together their passion was burning up my kindle. SW writes great sex in her books. I enjoyed the plot as well. I started this book and it kept me entertained the whole time. Lure of oblivion was a great addition to the Mercury Pack series and I can’t wait to read the next book.
Gwen and Zander were so lovable. I loved this book from the very first page.
I’d recommend to those of my friends that read paranormal. The audible was great too.
When Zander and his pack-mate Bracken decided to stay at a B&B in Oregon, waiting for the reading of his uncles will. , neither expected to be drawn into a conflict between a human female, a beaten shifter, and a group of shifter-hating humans. But they’ll do their best to keep the females safe….and Zander might just keep the human female, Gwen, a little safer…by keeping her in his arms and his bed.
Very good addition to this series. I loved the storyline., the characters, the fun dialogue, and the hot and steamy sexy-times.. This book is okay to read alone but I always recommend reading the other books in the Mercury Pack and Phoenix Pack series.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My reviews and opinions are honest and my own.
4 1/2 stars
Just like all of Ms. Wright’s books, I loved this one. Funny. Very sexy. And a little suspenseful. The characters are hilarious. The storyline is smooth and interesting. And of course shifters.
Gwen is human and helps her foster family run a B&B. She had a rough childhood and was put in foster care at eight. When a shifter is badly beaten, she witnesses it and tells the cops. But nothing is done and she takes it to the shifter council. The guys who did it, try and threaten Gwen to not testify but she refuses to back down.
Zander is a wolf shifter and his wolf is not a fan of women. He and his friend go to Oregon to the reading of his Uncle’s will. They stay at the B&B, which is supposed to be haunted. Zander has a twin and a sister but his twin is mean. When he hears about what’s been happening to Gwen, he and his buddy decides to stick around and protect them. Something is wrong with Zander’s wolf because he is weary of Gwen but he can’t figure out why.
Both are secretive people and Gwen takes care of her family but doesn’t know how to let Zander take care of her. Zander is tough and doesn’t open up to anyone but to get Gwen to tell about herself, he shares some of his past. Gwen is afraid to hope because it has never really worked out for her but she realizes that without it, she may not get the whole mate experience.
