“Quick, cutting wit . . . a keen ear.”—The New York Times Book Review Hollywood’s newest wunderkind is Peter Alan Nelsen, the brilliant, erratic director known as the King of Adventure. His films make billions, but his manners make enemies. What the boy king wants, he gets, and what Nelsen wants is for Elvis to comb the country for the wife and infant child the film-school flunkout dumped en … the film-school flunkout dumped en route to becoming the third-biggest filmmaker in America. It’s the kind of case Cole can handle in his sleep—until it turns out to be a nightmare. For when Cole finds Nelsen’s ex-wife in a small Connecticut town, she’s nothing like he expects. She has some unwanted—and very nasty—mob connections, which means Elvis could be opening an East Coast branch of his P.I. office…at the bottom of the Hudson River.

Robert Crais is one of the best. Everything he does is brilliant.
I highly recommend this book , although as a hardcore fan I recommend starting with The Monkey’s Raincoat#1 then Stalking The Angel #2 followed by this book. You will be glad you did.I have found each book written by Robert Crais to be absolutely incredible. Be aware that once you pick up his work you will be searching for the next in the series …
Peter Alan Nelson, current movie mogul, hires Cole to find his ex-wife and son. Peter decided when he was first coming up in the business, that he didn’t want to be married or have a kid. So, he shed the wife and kid, but now ten years later he wants to meet his son.
Peter is the biggest jerk possible. Everything is about him and he treats …
As always an excellent read!
Elvis and Joe are at it again, only this time Elvis’s client is as big a problem as the case he’s trying to solve. Pretty soon Elvis travels east and gets mixed up with the mob. It never disappoints.
Everything Robert Crais writes is fantastic. You don’t have to read the Elvis Cole/Joe Pike books in order but you should.
Robert Craig’s comes through again. Elvis Cole and Joe Pike are as entertaining as any fictional characters. Highly recommended.
Love anything by Crais
Robert Crais is a master of fast action, cliff-hangers, and smart-ass replies. Elvis Cole and Joe Pike can’t seem to keep out of trouble. But then, “trouble is their business.” Lullaby Town is a fine example of the way Crais develops both the plot and subplot and interweaves a finely-crafted story. One of my favorite authors.
I enjoy Robert Crais’s characters, Elvis Cole, PI and Joe Pike, possible psychopath and partner..
As a team they are unstoppable. A Hollywood mogul Peter Larsen wants to find his wife and child who disappeared about 10 years ago. Larsen is totally unlikable but the case has appeal and the money does too. What seems like a simple case of …
I love the Elvis Cole and Joe Pike characters. I’m a Robert Craig’s fan.
My favorite author. Read the series of Elvis and Joe novels in sequence more than once. Great reading.
Like every Robert Crais book, outstanding!
Robert Crais is one of my favorites!
Elvis and Pike….. great characters!
Great book
Brisk, witty, whimsical, firm characterizations and deft plotting.
Amazing writer. Whatever you can find, snatch it up and read it.
As with everything Crais writes, he knocks it out of the park. I’d read his grocery list and be entertained. You can’t go wrong with a book by him. His characters come to life and jump off the pages. Do yourself a favor and read this series.
I am pretty sure that I have read every Elvis Cole and/or Joe Pike book by Robert Crais. Lullaby Town was one of his very early books in this series, so I no longer recall its specifics. Nonetheless, it, like the other books, undoubtedly provided a highly entertaining and action-packed story Elvis, assisted by Joe and others, eventually …
