Everyone Has a Hidden Talent
For Lucky O’Toole it’s murder…solving it.
Surviving in Sin City takes cunning, a pair of five-inch heels, and a wiseass attitude. Lucky has mastered them all and has a pair of legs she uses to kick butt and turn heads.
As the Chief Problem Solver for the Babylon, Las Vegas’s most over-the-top destination, mischief is in her job description.
She’s good at her job.
She’s less good at life. But who has time for a life when there’s a killer on the loose?
Light, funny, romantic mysteries providing a Vegas escape appropriate for anyone looking for a good laugh.
AN INTERVIEW WITH DEBORAH COONTS
Why did you decide to write humor?
I’m not sure I decided to add snark to the Lucky, books, specifically to Lucky’s own voice, it just happened that way. When I was a kid, my mouth always got me into trouble. Finally, I’ve found a way to harness the sarcasm for the Forces of Good—or at least in a way not to anger my grandmother. And when Lucky started talking to me, she had a strong dose of sass in her.
The Lucky O’Toole Vegas Adventure series is hard to categorize. Is that by design?
When I set out to write Wanna Get Lucky?, I knew I wanted to write a romp through Las Vegas. I had the characters and the setting but no real understanding of narrative drive. So, I threw a young woman out of a tour helicopter into the middle of the Pirate Show and let the story unfold. A bit of murder to keep the plot moving, some wisecracking and Vegas mischief to make you laugh, and some romance to keep it interesting. A bit of a mash up, but it works.

Excellent characters! Very enjoyable read!
These books are like Janet Evanovich’s fun and witty Stephanie Plum! Just enough action to keep the pages turning, just enough romance to keep you wondering who she is going to end up with, just enough family dysfunction to make you laugh. I want to be Lucky O’Toole, fast cars, designer clothes, sexy men and trouble just around the corner, but not self absorbed or high maintenance. Just a girl doing her job, well
I found this book smartly written and sassy. Great fun read.
Great read— both books. Read one after the other. Lucky is a great character, and can tell readers a lot abou themselves when it comes to relationships… are you a Lucky?
Wow! I love reading Deborah Coonts books. These two Lucky Stiff and Wanna get Lucky are fantastic and attention grabbing. I love the characters involved in the story with murder and a litte romance involved.
Liked the story line, at times believeabity some what stretched
A fun read with twists and turns to find the bad guy
Great book…..now I’m hooked on Lucky O’Toole series
A lot of fun to read. Interesting characters and entertaining story lines and plot twists. I look forward to reading more in the series.
Did not want to put either of them down. Excellent storytelling.
Enjoyed the fast pace and glimpses behind the scenes of life in Vegas
I really enjoyed all the insights about Vegas. It made me ready to go again!
I could just see all that going on in a Las Vegas casino. Characters very realistic and strong.
If you’ve read one Deborah Coonts, you’ve read them all, but they’re fun and an easy to read distraction. What used to be called a ” beach read.” Or plane, or can’t sleep.
Wonderful play on characters and location … where else but Vegas could any story like this emerge?
Light, Interesting reading
If you like Vegas and a book you don’t want to put down! This is it !!!!
A little twist of action, suspense, crime solving and romance… all in one book. LOVED IT! The characters are believable and interesting. No reading 50 pages before you get to action, it starts on page 1. Definitely reminds me of Janet Evonovich type books. Very enjoyable, light and quick reading.
A good read
Just started reading this series. So far so good I will continue to read them.
