Everyone Has a Hidden Talent
For Lucky O’Toole it’s murder…solving it.
Surviving in Sin City takes cunning, a pair of five-inch heels, and a wiseass attitude. Lucky has mastered them all and has a pair of legs she uses to kick butt and turn heads.
As the Chief Problem Solver for the Babylon, Las Vegas’s most over-the-top destination, mischief is in her job description.
She’s good at her job.
She’s less good at life. But who has time for a life when there’s a killer on the loose?
Light, funny, romantic mysteries providing a Vegas escape appropriate for anyone looking for a good laugh.
AN INTERVIEW WITH DEBORAH COONTS
Why did you decide to write humor?
I’m not sure I decided to add snark to the Lucky, books, specifically to Lucky’s own voice, it just happened that way. When I was a kid, my mouth always got me into trouble. Finally, I’ve found a way to harness the sarcasm for the Forces of Good—or at least in a way not to anger my grandmother. And when Lucky started talking to me, she had a strong dose of sass in her.
The Lucky O’Toole Vegas Adventure series is hard to categorize. Is that by design?
When I set out to write Wanna Get Lucky?, I knew I wanted to write a romp through Las Vegas. I had the characters and the setting but no real understanding of narrative drive. So, I threw a young woman out of a tour helicopter into the middle of the Pirate Show and let the story unfold. A bit of murder to keep the plot moving, some wisecracking and Vegas mischief to make you laugh, and some romance to keep it interesting. A bit of a mash up, but it works.

very entertaining – good character development
I honestly don’t read books as fast paced action and this type of setting. However the great personality and lightness of treatment of some nasty happenings kept me reading for more. and more. This author has a real way with words, and that is what kept me in the book more than anything. I really enjoyed the wordplay alot.
This author writes a very fast paced character in Lucky O’Toole. She is on the run from morning to way into the next morning some days in the town that never sleeps, Vegas. She puts out ‘fires’ on a run and still has time to indulge in a little romance. I liked the way Coonts writes the romance scenes…just enough to get the imagination started and then on to the next scene without all the ‘gushy’ details. And very little profanity in the book too. Thank you for that. The two I’ve read has a mystery involved and figuring out that along with the other interesting aspects of Vegas and its workings keeps me interested. I’ve already downloaded the next five in the series. Looking forward to reading more Lucky O’Toole Vegas adventures.
Lucky has become one of my favorite heroines. Her job as fixer for a major Las Vegas hotel/casino has made her adept at solving almost everyone’s problems. The only person she consistently fails is…Lucky. As she works her way through solving everyone else’s conundrums, you’ll find yourself falling for her -despite the fact she’s most usually oblivious to the fact that her life’s not so bad after all. Clever repartee, ridiculously funny situations and the kinds of circumstances that literally work “only in Vegas” make for a rollicking good time.
Wonderful characters development.
I have read all these books.
I love Lucky and all the trouble she deals with in her sassy way! The characters are fabulous. Can’t wait to read the next one.
Love this series!
This was an easy, entertaining read. The characters are a lot of fun.
These are fun to read. I have read 3 of the series and intend to read them all. Easy and entertaining. The next time I go to Vegas I will be on the lookout for Lucky!
I’ve read several books by this author and have enjoyed each one greatly.
Oh to grow up to be Lucky!
Love these characters and deeply appreciate the acceptance of others with differences.
Great read; no dull moments here!
I really enjoyed both of the books – they were funny, witty (I laughed out loud a few times), well written, and all around enjoyable.
Light reading ! Okay, if you are in the mood for a no-brainer.
Book#1: Wanna Get Lucky – Just enough normality in the plot to make the wacky fun! – Book# 2: Lucky Stiff – Disappointing.
I have loved this I entire series. They are fun, action packed, humorous, and insightful into Vegas.
Pretty interesting, light reading. Didn’t expect much, but was pleasantly surprised. Good read while sitting on a plane.
Since my daughter lives in Las Vegas, I enjoyed pure fiction of a casino life and problems and it’s employees.
Kept me interested enough to read both books. Good characters.
