Everyone Has a Hidden Talent
For Lucky O’Toole it’s murder…solving it.
Surviving in Sin City takes cunning, a pair of five-inch heels, and a wiseass attitude. Lucky has mastered them all and has a pair of legs she uses to kick butt and turn heads.
As the Chief Problem Solver for the Babylon, Las Vegas’s most over-the-top destination, mischief is in her job description.
She’s good at her job.
She’s less good at life. But who has time for a life when there’s a killer on the loose?
Light, funny, romantic mysteries providing a Vegas escape appropriate for anyone looking for a good laugh.
AN INTERVIEW WITH DEBORAH COONTS
Why did you decide to write humor?
I’m not sure I decided to add snark to the Lucky, books, specifically to Lucky’s own voice, it just happened that way. When I was a kid, my mouth always got me into trouble. Finally, I’ve found a way to harness the sarcasm for the Forces of Good—or at least in a way not to anger my grandmother. And when Lucky started talking to me, she had a strong dose of sass in her.
The Lucky O’Toole Vegas Adventure series is hard to categorize. Is that by design?
When I set out to write Wanna Get Lucky?, I knew I wanted to write a romp through Las Vegas. I had the characters and the setting but no real understanding of narrative drive. So, I threw a young woman out of a tour helicopter into the middle of the Pirate Show and let the story unfold. A bit of murder to keep the plot moving, some wisecracking and Vegas mischief to make you laugh, and some romance to keep it interesting. A bit of a mash up, but it works.

Excellent read!
exposed the underside of glamorous gambling meccas in Vegas. I loved this book
Surprisingly funny for a mystery or well developed plot for a comedy.
Of course Deborah Coonts is very entertaining, I love her Lucky books.
I agree “move over Stephanie Plum”. Still love Plum, but Lucky is every bit as entertaining and funny. Well-written, well-edited (for a change!), believable and just plain fun. Highly recommend.
Lucky is irresistible!
Such a fun laugh out loud read.
I enjoyed reading this book. It was a fun quick read with humor and fun characters. If you are looking for something “deep” though this would not be for you.
I read a lot of “cozy” mysteries, one or two a day, and frankly, I was getting tired of them. Some are so formulaic and predictable, it was becoming tedious. I skimmed through them lately, instead of peeking at the end.
But Lucky changed all that. I read every word, then went back for the next book.
I’ve spent a lot of time in Las Vegas, developed Valley Fever, dehydrated to the point of almost having a diabetic coma, developed the pain of dry eye that felt like glass under my lids, food poisoning a few times, but I loved Lucky’s Las Vegas. The books, I’m reading through them, are fun, fresh, fast moving, original and incredibly involving. They’re a blast! I can’t wait to move on to the next one. We’re lucky to have then to read!
Factual fiction about Las Vegas

Lucky is such a great character. I cannot wait to see what she gets into next . Great fun and easy to read. Hard for me to put it down.
Great summer reading!
These were fun stories to read. I’ve never been to Las Vegas so I don’t know if the story lines are close to being realistic or not I would read more books by Deborah Coonts.
A nice change of pace from a mystery or historical read.
