Everyone Has a Hidden Talent
For Lucky O’Toole it’s murder…solving it.
Surviving in Sin City takes cunning, a pair of five-inch heels, and a wiseass attitude. Lucky has mastered them all and has a pair of legs she uses to kick butt and turn heads.
As the Chief Problem Solver for the Babylon, Las Vegas’s most over-the-top destination, mischief is in her job description.
She’s good at her job.
She’s less good at life. But who has time for a life when there’s a killer on the loose?
Light, funny, romantic mysteries providing a Vegas escape appropriate for anyone looking for a good laugh.
AN INTERVIEW WITH DEBORAH COONTS
Why did you decide to write humor?
I’m not sure I decided to add snark to the Lucky, books, specifically to Lucky’s own voice, it just happened that way. When I was a kid, my mouth always got me into trouble. Finally, I’ve found a way to harness the sarcasm for the Forces of Good—or at least in a way not to anger my grandmother. And when Lucky started talking to me, she had a strong dose of sass in her.
The Lucky O’Toole Vegas Adventure series is hard to categorize. Is that by design?
When I set out to write Wanna Get Lucky?, I knew I wanted to write a romp through Las Vegas. I had the characters and the setting but no real understanding of narrative drive. So, I threw a young woman out of a tour helicopter into the middle of the Pirate Show and let the story unfold. A bit of murder to keep the plot moving, some wisecracking and Vegas mischief to make you laugh, and some romance to keep it interesting. A bit of a mash up, but it works.

Laughed all through the book. Then went to the library and got an audio book by the author so I could hear more about the characters while commuting. So much fun.
Fun read. Often confused by so many characters. Pulling for Mr. Dane
I didn’t think I’d like a Vegas location, but good writing, lots of action, and interesting characters won me over.
Lucky is on the inside of a world I pass through but don’t see. (I live in Las Vegas!) What a trip she takes us on….. Casinos, Pahrump, Summerlin, Loungeshows, conventions, restaurants, cheaters, food service, from slots to big time gambling, highrolleres, scams, the airport, comps, politics, hotels, professional, sports, celeberties…. on and on. Is any of it real? I don’t know and I don’t care. These books are entertaining! The stories are good enough to make me want more and the characters delightful.
Fun beach reading….
.
I enjoyed this collection. The characters were fun.
This is the first time I’ve stopped reading to save a quote that was memorable. I anticipated a fun read but found more to it than I anticipated.
Fairly predictable, entertaining and funny. Characters a bit quirky. Seems unrealistic that the customer relations head would be off doing “detective” work instead of her job at the hotel/casino. I will probably read more because it is light reading and entertaining enough to read more.
Very enjoyable with great characters.
I loved this book, it was witty action packed, can’t wait to read the rest of them in this series
Lucky is one of a kind!
I enjoyed the two books. The characters were interesting and the story line was good and fun to read.
I really enjoyed the twists and turn of both stories between the romance and crime and the life of the casino. I found the stories original and entertaining.
Great book. It ended much too soon
Once I started this book I could not put it down!
Was a light and entertaining read, still not as good as the Stephanie Plum laugh out loud books, but an enjoyable read.
kind of clichéd but entertaining
I really liked it I’m reading it again I give it 5 stars
Another great book series
It was a fun read with a unique setting
