Everyone Has a Hidden Talent
For Lucky O’Toole it’s murder…solving it.
Surviving in Sin City takes cunning, a pair of five-inch heels, and a wiseass attitude. Lucky has mastered them all and has a pair of legs she uses to kick butt and turn heads.
As the Chief Problem Solver for the Babylon, Las Vegas’s most over-the-top destination, mischief is in her job description.
She’s good at her job.
She’s less good at life. But who has time for a life when there’s a killer on the loose?
Light, funny, romantic mysteries providing a Vegas escape appropriate for anyone looking for a good laugh.
AN INTERVIEW WITH DEBORAH COONTS
Why did you decide to write humor?
I’m not sure I decided to add snark to the Lucky, books, specifically to Lucky’s own voice, it just happened that way. When I was a kid, my mouth always got me into trouble. Finally, I’ve found a way to harness the sarcasm for the Forces of Good—or at least in a way not to anger my grandmother. And when Lucky started talking to me, she had a strong dose of sass in her.
The Lucky O’Toole Vegas Adventure series is hard to categorize. Is that by design?
When I set out to write Wanna Get Lucky?, I knew I wanted to write a romp through Las Vegas. I had the characters and the setting but no real understanding of narrative drive. So, I threw a young woman out of a tour helicopter into the middle of the Pirate Show and let the story unfold. A bit of murder to keep the plot moving, some wisecracking and Vegas mischief to make you laugh, and some romance to keep it interesting. A bit of a mash up, but it works.

A fun read
Great description of Las Vegas and lots of action
Can’t wait to read more
Excellent books in this double collection. Both were fun and easy to read. I just wanted to spend a day with all the characters. I will definitely look for others in the series.
I enjoyed this book. The characters and the Las Vegas setting was fun. There was always something going on at the casino that made the book exciting.
I like Lucky. She is someone I care about and she definitely is good at what she does. Well written series.
I don’t care for swearing in a book. I look for entainment.
Fun, easy read!
A fun read in Los Vegas casino setting – plan to read rest of books in this series, cozy mystery genre. Recommend!
didn’t like it , boring
I finished the first book but not the second. I did not see a warning that this book was mostly about depraved people. I know a lot of this goes on but I think it tell young people that this kind of behavior is normal or all right.
After reading the first of the series, I am ready to purchase the rest as I read them. Love that girl Lucky O’Toole!
Thoroughly enjoyed this literary duo. Can’t wait to read others in this sequence.
I love the characters in these ‘Lucky” books. Entertaining.
It is well written
I funny and very witty.
Don’t try to figure it out. Just go along for the ride and enjoy.
Love all of this authors books
Good read. Will get her others.
A fun who fun it, look forward to reading more.
There is no doubt that the author can spin a great story and has skill at developing quirky and out of the ordinary characters. The big twist in the first book certainly took me by surprise even though I had wondered about the possibility early in the book.
I just didn’t find myself really liking any of the characters so without someone to root for, it left me with an overall impression of “why bother?”
I’m sure there are others who love the characters, but for me, they kept me from completely enjoying the series.
