Fun to read
I have to get over this idea that I really should finish a book, even an appalling one, in hopes of finding redeeming qualities.
Firstly, and this is a perpetual annoyance, she is NOT Lady Randolph. That title would have been her mother’s. She is Lady Elizabeth. Learn the basics, people!
Secondly, while it’s wonderful to focus on equal rights for women (yay!) the tangential stories should not overwhelm the main plot.
This book got completely carried away, and then ended so abruptly, with so many loose threads, I was stunned.
No redeeming qualities, alas.
I couldn’t put it down. I even found myself reading all night. The story is wonderful. You can fall in love with Cooper. He is a fantastic character.
I loved the spunkiness of the female character. I really enjoyed reading this.
A fun twist on a fairly typical romance.
Just the kind of heroine I admire: brave, daring, caring and witty.
Cute, fun, and witty with a splash of clean romance
This is a madcap story and really fun to read.
Just became more unbelievable as it went on. I’m not sure what year this is supposed to be, but based on clothes and hair, I’d say late 18th century or early 19th century. So then a lot of what happens is so improbable as to be ridiculous. I understand that the laws were extremely unfair to women and it would’ve been wonderful for such changes to have been possible. However, things are never so simple.
There are numerous other things I could mention, but suffice to say, I skimmed through most the of the middle.
The love story was very underdeveloped. The characters were likable enough.
Fun book.. Immediately grabs your attention and you simply can’t put the book down until the very exciting end.
Delightful story and no yukky sex!
Insightful glimpse into a woman’s role in this time period. Ingenious masquerade by one perceived as not worthy as she takes her place in a man’s world and uses her knowledge to help others. Good read.
Struggled through 2 chapters hoping things would improve then totally lost interest.
I thought this book was quite good. The story was intriguing and kept me hooked.
Early 20th century woman disguises herself as a man to find work in her society.
Historical fiction is something I enjoy reading. The books are usually predictable. This one is a little different than normal historical. I enjoyed reading it very much.
The story kept my interest sufficiently to keep me reading until the end. However, unless there is a sequel, the ending seemed rather anticlimactic for all the drama preceding it.
Good reading.
A strange mixture of serious information about the unfair legal situation of females in the Regency period and a light -hearted, often silly romp. Although the two do not always mix smoothly, this is still enjoyable.
Great book
