I was hired to guard a pair of earrings. Unfortunately, they’re attached to pure, unadulterated trouble.
LuckyTrouble starts with a blue-eyed stare that hits below the belt. You might think it ends with a girl-next-door but you’d be wrong. Bloody hell, she’s all woman and you’d swear she was about to do you. Not only that, she’s a bloomin’ genius.CallieWhile my bodyguard works, I flirt all night … that, she’s a bloomin’ genius.
Callie
While my bodyguard works, I flirt all night and play with fire. When the party’s over, we’re ready for more but fate has other plans. First there’s the snowstorm, then the break-ins. Did I mention the arms dealer?
A Stand-alone Patten Securities novel with heated scenes, swearing, and a Happily-Ever-After.

Lucky by Stella Marie Alden this is book 1 for Callie & Lochlan from the Patten Security novels series.
I gave this book 5 it’s fantastic!!!
Callie is from a posh family in Boston full of money, but she’s smart as a whistle, this woman works at MIT while she is finishing her thesis, she is studying to take her doctorate . She’s nothing like her stiff, nosy, rude mother. They are having an event were Callie has to wear her family heirloom very pricey earrings…. her mother hires a bodyguard to protect the jewels. To say that Callie is a bit ticked off at this new message from momma dear is an understatement.
Sir Lochlan James is a former Marine, born in Australia but who is working in America for Patten Sec. which a high tech security company. He was the chosen one to be the bodyguard for Callie…..he is also not happy about his new assignment, but off to work he goes with another team member.
OH! boy when these two meet for the first type you could feel the spark and the fireworks in-between them go off like the 4th of July, and it never lights up until the end!
This was a book full of action, fantastic characters, great brotherhood family united, suspense, family drama, steamy hot sex, tensions, turns and twists with surprise danger. They do find love in each other’s arms. Great book
It really doesn’t end on a cliffhanger, but I really, really highly recommend you read Lucky II that was iceing on the cake for Callie and Lucky’s world wind romance love story!
This is a good little rom com. I loved Lucky’s smart-a$$ attitude and inner dialogs. Callie is a much more simple character, but I found her likeable even though gullible. The adventure/mystery seems secondary to the romance but sets it up so he is her bodyguard. This is a definite enjoyable read for me.
I received an ARC of this book from the author.
From the moment I read about Lucky in some of Stella Marie Alden’s books, I had a feeling I would enjoy his story, and I did! I loved the banter between Lucky and Callie, the way they tried to be professional about their relationship, but at the same time couldn’t keep their hands away from each other.
I love the way Stella Marie Alden develops her characters, and can’t wait for Lucky II!
I received an advance reader copy of this book and am voluntarily giving my review.
I really liked this read. It starts with Calliope, a 27yr old MIT physics researcher/professor, returning home to her apartment and finding it has been entered without her knowledge; the artwork tossed on the floor; and her safe ransacked. Everyone thinks it because of a pair of priceless 16th century earrings that she must wear to her mother’s gala every year, once a year. Her mother strikes me as a snooty, domineering woman who true to run her daughter’s, Calliope, life. Enter Lochlan “Lucky” James. He is Australian but is also an English knight and bodyguard. He arrives in Boston and after he meets up with her, it begins to get very interesting.
It is a costume gala and her mother has invited several eligible men for her daughter to meet. Calliope’s thesis is on EMF waves and has to be approved by her mentor, Gerard “Gerry”, whom she has known her whole life and went to school with. The action really ramps up and there are gun battles, kidnappings, safe houses, etc. with romance being front and center. Very Good book!
Red Robin
Lucky and Callie have a lot to put up with as they try to find their happy ending. A well written book that I enjoyed reading. I received a copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Lucky by Stella Marie Alden
What another amazing story written by Stella. I enjoyed reading this story. Kept me on the edge of the seat as there are twists and turns.
Would recommend!
I felt annoyed at Callie’s character at the beginning of the book and had a hard time getting into the story but others may enjoy this. I am looking forward to Ms. Alden’s next book. I have read over ten of her previous books and enjoyed them. This one was not for me. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
An amazing entertaining short romance story. This incredible storyline included suspense, humor, passion, danger, and twists that I didn’t see coming. The characters are relateable, interesting, and have incredible sizzling chemistry that they fight through with obstacles and challenges of fighting their romantic feelings till the ending I didnt see coming with a nice epilogue.
The Aussie bodyguard has finally met his match beautiful Callie which is his newest assignment. From the start there is betrayal and a twisting plot. Callie thought the earrings were the issue not anything else and especially her ex Gerald. But as time goes Gerald is proving to be against Callie. Now on the run Loch and Callie get even closer and he never had the kind of feelings for any other Sheila and he cant help the way he feels. When its down to the nitty gritty, Loch is there to save Callie. A beautiful HEA for them both in every aspect.
I voluntary read and reviewed this ARC.
I just love this series! Lucky did not let me down. He’s a sexy, strong, knows what he wants Australian with a bit of humor thrown in. I love the protective side and how he is so drawn to Callie. The story has this edge of suspense that kept me on my toes. Great read!

Oh my “Lucky “ stars! I absolutely adore Lucky and his quick wit. He is just around alpha male with a lot of caring personality. Callie is this sweet and wholesome lady that is too sharp for her own good. This story has a lot of action, suspense, drama and of course hot romance. It makes you wish you had one like Lucky and makes you want to be Callie. This story is definitely worth reading and honestly doesn’t disappoint. It has you glued to your reader demanding to know what happens. I voluntarily review an advanced reader copy of this book.
I am voluntarily reviewing an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I am a huge fan of Stella Marie Alden and this book is a perfect example of why!! The men of Patten Securities fall fast, hard, and forever and poor Lucky didn’t stand a chance when he meets Callie. These are well written characters, a fast paced story, some great twists and turns, and smoking hot chemistry. The perfect addition to the Patten Stories…..who’s up next??
I thought Lucky was great, he is smooth not just at work and talking and good looks, on the other hand Callie although smart is really daft at times and it makes me want to shake her with how blind she is to whats going on around her. In saying that it was still a good read and kept me entertained and now I need to find me some flashy earrings so I can hire a hot Aussie and see if I get a Lucky!
I loved Sir James. He’s all alpha, and willing to sacrifice anything for Callie. Callie is a genius but she has no confidence and she’s being played by not just one person, but two. The attraction is electric, the sex hot and the characters are believable and the twists are unexpected. All great qualities of a great read. It’s a definite page turner and it has previous characters from her Bushwick series in it which makes it all the more enjoyable.
I received this advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review.
Lucky & Suds ended up with this Assignment: Guard some expensive heirloom earrings. They weren’t expecting the beautiful blonde that would be wearing them. She makes the job; very interesting, romantic, funny, full of action, and suspense. The characters were very interesting and likeable. I read this book as an arc program.
This was a very enjoyable read. A well written, fun storyline offers plenty of humor, suspense, action, drama, heat and romance. Lucky and Callie were great together. I loved their chemistry and I thought their contrasts helped add a lot of cuteness to the story. Really very good.
I loved Lucy’s story. He’s always been a funny and likable character in previous books so this was a must read for me and was disappointed. Hired to protect rare jewels but finding himself wanting to protect and claim the girl. Callie a bright girl working on ground breaking thesis to help the world but dangerous men want to use it for harm. Great story.
From the previous books I’ve always loved reading about Lochlan (Lucky). He is sent to watch family heirloom earrings owned by Callie’s family. The instant attraction is there but he knows nothing can happen since he’s on the job. With Callie being gorgeous & a genius, Lucky knows he will never be good enough for her. But things start to take a dangerous turn for Callie when she experiences unexplained break-ins in her apartment. Is she being watched because of the earrings or does she have something else of value? Another great book full of suspense, mystery, & plenty of steamy scenes!
For honest review. Cellular Bradford clark after a break in at her home her mother hired pattern security to get her a bodyguard. Lucky lahlan is her man an when they meets sparks fly so being in trouble puts this man in protection.Awesome story
Lucky and Calliope have taken the spot for my favorite Stella Marie couple. I got sucked into the story, and honestly finished it in one sitting, but then read it again to pick up on things I missed. This story had me so engrossed!!! The plot and the old money and all the scheming had me cracking up, and I recommend this book.
