If only life had a refresh button…
Kate Mitchell never planned to be a 31 year-old widowed single mom, but when her soon-to-be-EX husband up and dies, her dreams of finishing college and starting over are thrown in the air like a game of 52 pick-up. When she’s given a leave of absence from work and told to “quit or recommit,” Kate retreats to idyllic Sugar Falls, New Hampshire, to figure out … out whether she can discover her passion and pay the bills. Cue the fresh air, summer sunshine and one sexy local contractor.
Tall, dark, and handy…
Volunteer fireman and all-around hunky guy in a toolbelt, Jim Pearson, has sworn off complicated women with messy baggage. They cling to his nice-guy stability and skills with a power saw just long enough to straighten out their lives and move on… but then he meets the cute single mom staying at Grams’ lake house for the summer.
While a sizzling attraction draws them together, Jim’s distrust of complicated women and Kate’s incredibly complicated life threaten to pull them apart. But forces beyond their control–match-making grandmothers, the lazy backdrop of summer, and their own reckoning with the past–conspire to make them risk it all… and bet on love.

Great read with a surprise ending. Enjoyed the story and would like to read more from this author.
Are you doing what makes you happy? Finding that happy career that she enjoys and a happy relationship is what she’s about to find if it’s possible or not. Worth the wait…
This was a lovely story. Cheri Allan draws realistic and heartwarming characters that suck you in from page 1 until the very end. I highly recommend this book to all who like second chance romances.
Very enjoyable.
As you can see by my rating I like this book. This is a story I can relate to on a personal bases. Sometimes things happen and we do our very best to protect our hearts from ever getting hurt again. But, sometimes someone has a different plan for your life and when all is said and done, we wouldn’t want it any other way.
A sweet heartwarming story. From the Meddling grandmothers to the wounded main characters, you can’t help but nestle in and thoroughly enjoy this story. Definitely a feel good read…
Entertaining read with enough questions to keep me interested.
Great story line!
Very likable characters and it held my attention. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Finished in 2 days – definitely engaging characters that were relate-able. Nice book for sitting down with a glass of wine on a relaxing afternoon.
Terrific
Kate needs to start over. She was going to finish college, raise her son and move on with life. Her Nana comes to visit and suggest a summer in Sugar Falls. Jim is bringing the replacement toilet for the cottage when he runs into her. Boy the sparks can fly.
I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Loved it
The story line sucks you right in, I had a hard time putting it down
Grandmothers are truly matchmakers. It’s all in the cards and family related photos that create an interesting way for pairing up couples. Enjoyed the verbal duel on the lake that replaced the stroke for stroke swim competition.
A really enjoyable read
I really like the characters in this book.
Good read for the romantic.
I truly enjoyed reading this book. Good storyline and loved the ending and epilogue.
