USA TODAY BESTSELLER • The Carolina Cold Fury hockey team is stacked with hotshots. But when a new player joins their ranks, he learns that even superstars can’t go it alone when it comes to love. Lucas Fournier is only serious about one thing: hockey. The league’s fun-loving charmer, Luc is always up for a good prank or a great lay, and he has no intention of settling down. But being traded to … down. But being traded to the Carolina Cold Fury—and to play alongside his big brother, Max—is no joke. With another title in sight, the last thing Luc wants is to let his new teammates down. To succeed, Luc will need to keep his head in the game and the most . . . er, demanding member of his anatomy in check. But when temptation hits, Luc hits back harder.
Museum curator Stephanie Frazier has always put business before pleasure, which just about explains her nonexistent sex life. But when Stephanie meets Luc at a champagne-fueled gala, she finds herself flirting like crazy—and going home with the uninhibited athlete. For one night, she learns what passion is all about. She just never counted on the little surprise Luc leaves behind. And that’s when things really start to get . . . interesting.

Another great read in the Cold Fury series. A twist that brings unexpected joy making this one one of my favorite stories in this series. Loved Lucas from the get go and fell in love with Stephanie through their journey. A must read.
Not a fan of this series ….
Part of a series but ok to read as a stand alone
Loved this so much went back and bought 2 more in this series. Funny, steamy and awesome
I have enjoyed many (not all) books in this series. This one wasn’t my least favorite, but it was towards the bottom of my list. The heroine’s behavior bugged me more and more as the story progressed.
I love the Cold Fury series and this book is no exception. Lucas is fun sexy read and well worth the time to read.
I love Sawyer Bennet and the stories she writes. The characters seem to come to life.
A little too much high drama for me.
Sawyer Bennett ‘s hockey series is excellent. After I started it, I ran into an article on Best Romance/Sports series and this one is listed. I couldn’t agree more.
I’m a fan of this series. Even tough the story formula is similar throughout, I find ever one of them to be a page turner. She’s an automatic buy author for me whenever she puts out a book.
This was one of those books where I was immediately all in because there was such a fantastic start to the story. I loved meeting Lucas and Stephanie and I was excited for everything to play out and get to know them. I loved learning all their ins and outs, found it entertaining to read, and enjoyed it all.
Lucas and Stephanie’s relationship is anything but typical, their upbringing was so different (which makes them the person they are today), you would wonder how they would ever work together but I guess the old adage “Opposites Attract” is really true.
Lucas is having the time of his life he’s single, a key player on the Cold Fury Hockey Team, and can have any woman he wants in his bed with just a smile, but some of that changes after a one night stand with the beautiful Stephanie.
My heart broke every time Stephanie spoke about her parents and the couple of times she spoke with her mother I wanted to throw my kindle across the room. Neglect is a form of abuse, it may not leave physical scars that you can see but there are mental scars left and those scars will mold you into the person you become as an adult and for Stephanie the scars she has helped create the barrier she needs to keep her heart safe.
Lucas is the 8th book in the Cold Fury Hockey Series and while it can be read as a standalone I would recommend that you read the entire series starting with the first book.
**I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book**
It’s been a long time since I read Sawyer Bennett and I was a little nervous jumping into the Cold Fury series on Book 8 but I’m so glad that I did!! I didn’t feel at all lost for not having read the books 1-7 but they have definitely been added to my TBR.
When Lucas and Stephanie meet, the chemistry is off the charts. Neither wants anything more than one explosive night together. Lucas needs to focus on his new team and getting to the Stanley Cup. Stephanie just wants to focus on her job. Things don’t turn out as planned and the rollercoaster relationship that follows kept me glued to the page, not able to go to sleep until I finished.
I loved Stephanie’s independence and intelligence. Being with a star is never easy but she handled everything thrown at her. Lucas was totally swoon worthy, changing everything about his previous plans to be with Stephanie. The ups kept me smiling and the downs had me shedding more than a few tears but I loved pretty much everything about this story. I can’t wait to read the first seven books in this series and get to know everyone else from Cold Fury!
If I could give this one more than five starts I definitely would. I LOVED this story and Lucas is just pure perfection!! How this author keeps giving us such amazing characters and interesting stories I’ll never know but I hope she doesn’t stop any time soon! This is a story about one night of passion that changes the lives of both Luc and Stephanie forever. Yeah it’s been done before but his is one of the best. I definitely recommend this book to everyone.
3.75 stars–LUCAS is the eighth installment in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, adult COLD FURY HOCKEY erotic, romance series focusing on the men and women of the Carolina Cold Fury professional hockey team. This is defenseman Lucas Fournier, and museum curator Stephanie Frazier’s story line. LUCAS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Lucas is Max Fournier’s (MAX) younger brother.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Luc and Stephanie) LUCAS follows the building relationship between the Carolina Cold Fury’s latest player acquisition Lucas Fournier, and museum curator Stephanie Frazier. Having met at a local fund raising gala Lucas finds himself up close and personal with the woman in charge. Enter Stephanie Frazier, museum curator and the woman with whom Lucas will fall in love. A one-night stand with Stephanie will change Lucas Fournier’s future-a future he is hoping to convince Stephanie to come along for the ride.
Stephanie struggles with memories from the past-a past shrouded in parental emotional and physical neglect that has shaped our heroine’s outlook with low self esteem and the inability to trust. Lucas is a man determined to bring Stephanie out of her shell but Stephanie’s past has done too much damage to be overcome by the seduction of Lucas Fournier.
The relationship between Stephanie and Lucas is one of immediate attraction but an attraction that is tempered by Stephanie’s news and Lucas’s battle for the Stanley Cup. Lucas makes every attempt to bring Stephanie into his life but our heroine battles too many demons. Stephanie’s inability to move on from the past is frustrating-sometimes growing up means taking responsibility for the present and the future-not wallowing in what was or what could have been. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
Several of the previous story line characters including Max and his fiancée Jules, and Luc’s parents Marilyn and Laurence Fournier play secondary and supporting roles. We are re-introduced to Max and Lucas’s younger sister Simone, and Luc’s teammate/roommate Van Turner. Simone and Van’s story line is next.
LUCAS is a heartbreaking and emotional story line as one woman struggles with her past, and the man who is willing to push her to accept everything he has to offer. Both of the leading characters have issues with maturity including the push and pull, yin and yang of a relationship that was never meant to go beyond a one-night stand. Stephanie’s independence is hampered by her stubbornness, thick walls, and inability to let go of the past. The premise is engaging; the romance is edgy but I struggled with my lack of lack of concern for the story line heroine. I could completely understand Luc’s frustration with the emotional distance and attitude of the woman with whom he had fallen in love.
Oh Lucas, Oh Lucas, Oh my Lucas! He is just perfect. He wants it all and he is perfect, although maybe he had some growing up to do and man did he do it quickly. That is what happens when a one-night stand turns into a baby! Stephanie Frazier is definitely NOT mother material. She has no foundation since the way she grew up didn’t provide her with one and her self esteem is at an all time low. She was totally annoying to me but I was really proud of her for immediately seeking out Lucas and involving him and keeping him involved even if she pushed him away at every turn. This would have been a 5-star for me if she could have turned around just a little sooner or had a little more spunk but she really wore on my nerves.
I do, however, recommend this one and definitely am looking forward to the next one!
FREAKING FABULOUS!!! I was once asked who my favorite player on the Cold Fury team was, my first thought used to be Ryker, and I can still get away with that now, because he is no longer a player, but in the coaching staff. I know a technicality, but I will still take it. Then there was Max. Now, there is Lucas, Max’s brother, but I think they are tied for first!!! At least now, I am keeping it in the same family.
I LOVE this series. I love the creativity of the stories that Sawyer Bennett has written about the players and their lovely ladies. She makes me think about the lives of our sports heroes and what their lives are like.
Lucas started out as a ‘player’ to some extent in my opinion, and I was not sure if I liked him as a person at first. But then, welllll… Oops, I cannot really say what changed my mind without giving anything a away. Let me just say that my whole opinion of him changed and completely went to the other side and I loved him to death.
Stephanie is well matched with Lucas. She has hang ups of her own. Then, she meets Lucas and, let me just say this, the sparks really fly!!!
I LOVE the Fournier (Lucas and Max’s) family, the way they talk and take care of each other…sigh.
I was gifted with a copy of this spectacular book for my honest opinion. In my opinion… GET THIS BOOK!!! If you like romance, this book definitely has it, HOT, STEAMY romance.

Sawyer Bennett has created a series of books, the Cold Fury series, about a hockey team, the alpha men that make it up & the strong, sexy, stubborn women they are attracted to. Lucas Fournier has finally been signed to the same team as his brother. He’s beyond happy that they have a chance to win a title together as long as no one loses their focus. That’s why he’s the king of one night stands. At a charity event, he meets Stephanie Frazier, the museum Director of Acquisitions. The chemistry is hot & they enjoy an intense evening that ended on an awkward moment. Fast forward a month & while celebrating another win on their hunt for the Cup, Lucas sees Stephanie again & she drops a bombshell! One look & Lucas knows everything has changed.
The characters in this series all seem to have their own problems to work out. Lucas needs to realize he’s been waiting for the right woman & that being with her doesn’t make him weak. Stephanie needs to realize she deserves to be happy & loved. Every relationship is not like her parents’. I really enjoyed the build up as they follow through on their journey & the way Ms. Bennett conveys the start of the trust in their emotions. The story has explicit sexual scenes & dirty language but it is all used in the right context & conveys the intensity of their emotions. I can’t wait for Van’s story!
