I Was A Master Thief… suspense novel with a blazing hot love triangle. It’s Book 7 of the Underworld series — a standalone complete with HEA, no cheating, and no cliffhangers. Includes steamy scenes intended for mature readers only.
The Lark Notes:
My first heist romance. Lex is a strong character (like Sloane) and is being chased by two love interests and the mafia. – Sophiemore
So, I was debating for a couple of weeks whether to read this book and I can’t believe I waited so long! I was hooked from the first page and ended up binge-reading the rest of the books in this series!
This is a suspenseful romance novel with really refreshing storyline. Characters were all well developed and instantly likable.
I also really enjoyed writing style. It was engrossing and well-written although being told in 3rd person which I don’t see that often in books I read. But it worked out great in this book so kudos to author!
I gladly recommend this book and rest of the series. Really enjoyable and fast-paced read which I devoured in one sitting!

Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters were interesting. Lex is a criminal thief, she ran away to France after being in a car crash with Detective Byron Black and the jewels she stole. Luca is an Italian born thief and has his site set on a tiara he met Lex she is after the same item.

A really entertaining book, well worth reading. Such an entertaining, different book from the run of the mill romance novels. Why do we love reading about jewel thieves? Maybe there is a Robin Hood sympathiser in us all. Without resorting to writing a detailed synopsis, which the author has already done, this is a book that surprised me. Judging by the cover, I expected the ending to be a happy love triad. Lex a very talented international jewel and art thief, adored by Byron Black, the handsome Chief of Police. Surprisingly, he is totally ignorant of her profession until she runs away when her latest heist goes sour. Byron spends 2 years trying to find the woman who broke his heart and who was the intended recipient of the antique ring he still carries in his pocket. Following the initial period when he was the laughing stock of the police force with his career almost in ruins, Black is now part of an FBI task force on organised international fraud and theft. In the meantime, Lex continues what she does best in Italy where one of her robbery attempts brings her in contact with fellow thief, Luca. The adventures that follow, results in a steamy love affair between the two thieves with Black realising that although ” Lex was the sun in his universe, he was only a star in hers”. What an incredible metaphor! All the characters are expertly described and the book has an easy-flowing, character-approrpiate dialogue throughout. The plot is kept entertaining and engaging to the end. Good editing enhanced the experience. There is an HEA for Lex and Luca and although I accept that an alternative pairing may not have worked, I am still sad that Byron was left broken-hearted and can’t wait to read the episode where he too finds unconditional love. Sapphire is the kind of book that would land itself to being turned into a film, beautiful heroine, handsome thief, action-packed storyline, lovely jewelry and beautiful scenery. A recipe for a blockbuster.

A story that enticed me with it’s twist, captivated me with it’s romance and satisfied me with it’s revenge.

Lex was a thief, she worked alone and stole only items that spoke to her, she never sold anything she stole instead she added them to her private collection, Until the one time when she joined Luca to help him steal a tiara so well guarded that it needed careful planning and a two man team. The two of them met when they came to steal the same item, there was a double cross, then a second cross that led to them having to steal the item once again from the illegal purchaser. During this time their chemistry made lovers out of enemies and begun a relationship based on love and not need or revenge. There was a lot of drama, and danger facing their time together but by the end of this story they had cemented a relationship for the two of them, paid a debt and freed Luca from an organisation known for it ruthless cruelty and revenge. A story that enticed me with it’s twist, captivated me with it’s romance and satisfied me with it’s revenge.

I loved this book from beginning to the end it’s characters are well developed and engaging and they have loads of chemistry throughout the storyline which made it an easy read.
Lex and Luca are the freaking greatest. They’re both wild and free spirited. I felt so bad for Black because he genuinely loved Lex, but I also love her with Luca so so much.
The best of the best thief, Lex, comes across another that may be her equal, the handsome thief Luca. On her heels is the detective that was deeply in love with her but is devastated over how she had used him and left him. Both men are intrigued by her beauty, her skills, and her elusiveness. They are both chasing her for different yet similar reasons.
When the heist of a lifetime comes along, Lex & Luca must do the unthinkable- work together – to get the job done.
An intense exciting adventure!
I was upset that this was not Black and Lex’s story, I so wanted them together! However the author did one better, Luca is more suited to Lex and I love how they meet. Sophia Lark likes to have inventive ways to introduce her lovers to each other. I highly recommend this book and now have to get Black so I can read Black’s story and see who his love will be. I received an arc and the views and opinions are my own.
Old school feel with enough misdirects and slights of hand to make you feel like you were watching a black and white caper. Really cool story with enough espionage, steam, angst and love to keep the pages turning. Loved Luca and Lex working together after running into one another on a job. And all the while Officer Black searched high and low for Lex after two years on the run. Sweet sorry looking forward to blacks next!
Sapphire contains a lot of action and racy scenes. I liked the fast pace and wanted to keep turning the pages. It has a very unique and less predictable story set up and I really wish that I hadn’t seen details of a future book before reading this one.
I would have liked a little more character development. While I thought the character’s actions were interesting, I didn’t really feel connected to the characters. That being said, I would rather the book lean toward more action (as Sapphire did) than have too much descriptive text.
I received a copy of this book at my request and the opinions here are my own.
I received a free ARC copy in exchange for my honest review. This is my own opinion and was not influenced by anyone.
This books should be made into a movie. It has the feel of a major blockbuster. Alex Moore is a thief, a very good one. Byron Black is a cop who falls in love with her, until he finds out she is a thief. Now he has to catch her and what will he do when he does because he still loves her. The third part of this triangle is Luca Diotellevi. He us also a thief. She stole something before he was able to which intrigues him. Problem though: he was stealing it for the mob.
This author uses language well to describe the locale and the characters. I could picture the romps around Europe. We also get into the characters’ heads. The story does pull you in and holds you until the end.
An old-fashioned romantic romp through Europe.
Lex is an International art thief. She is a master at stealing priceless works of art from paintings to figurines. Detective Bryon Black is obsessed with her. He is in love with Lex even though she has broken his heart and wants to arrest her. Lex then steals the jewels that Luca steals and gets away. Later, Luca and Lex meet up again and sparks fly. They then team up to steal a priceless work of art only to outwit Detective Black who chases them all over Europe. Ok. I hope I got the summary straight because a lot happened. This book was a lot of story wrapped up nicely in a short book. Everything I love in a book was in here. It has adventure, romance, jealously, intrigue, drama, and hot sex scenes. Lol. I am so glad I went to this author’s first book. Now I want to read the whole series. Lol. It took some time for me to get used to the third person narrative but when I did the book flowed nicely. Lol. However, I still loved the book. The characters were three-dimensional. The descriptions vivid. The author’s description of Italy places you there with all the characters. The book kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was going to happen next. It’s very unique to read it in a book. Lol. It reminded me of the old heist films of the ’60s with an all-star cast.lol. I received a complimentary advance review copy for free, and I am leaving the review voluntarily.
SAPPHIRE The Romantic Heist of the Century, (Colors of Crime Book 1) by Sophie Lark
This is a very well written romantic suspense story. Detective Byron Black & Alex or Lex were together for quite awhile. He was in love with her and going to ask her to marry him when she pulls off a huge heist and disappears on him. While leaving him unknowingly sitting in the position of being thought to be her accomplice. Alex and Luca run into each other while they were both trying to pull off a special theft. He is trying to get a handle on his obligations to the Italian Mafia. Can they work together? This is a 5 star read.
Sapphire was the first book I’ve read by Sophie Lark and I honestly really enjoyed it!
This book had a little bit of everything and I found myself fully immersed into the world of it all.
Lex, Luca and Black were all great characters and although there is a slight love triangle between the three of them, this story isn’t just about the romance! I really liked the different levels that were in this book, and the fact that it was told from the POV of each of the main three characters made you really feel as if you were in their head.
It was fast paced and a real page turner. I recommend this book to anybody who enjoys books with romance and who loves a good heist story too!

#Sapphire #Sophie Lark I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I picked this book because I had not read a romantic suspense in a while and I am happy to say I really enjoyed it. The story unfolds fluidly and pulls you in with fresh and interesting characters. It keeps you involved from the beginning to the end. There are two main male characters, each of whom, is involved on some level, with Lex, who is a master thief. Lex bamboozles Byron Black who is a detective with the police department and ends up in a heist with Luca who is a master thief himself. Both seem in awe of her talents and fall easily in love with this heronine which results in something of a love triangle. A fun read. I would recommend this book! 4/5 stars
I really enjoyed the premise to this story and where the description took it. It fell short for me in the romance department and in the meat of the story. I think I would have enjoyed it more if there was more and give and take between Luca, Lex and Black but I get that the author was not looking to make this a mfm or a cheating romance. In a way I really appreciate that because I think it could have turned off more readers. I really enjoyed Black and I am so happy that he gets his story in the next book. Also, I did appreciate the character growth that Lex and Black both showed in the book. I think out of all the characters Lex grew the most from being a criminal to realizing she did not need to steal anymore in order to feel complete. I will continue on with this series.
Thank you to book siren for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.
This was definitely not what I thought it would be, but none the less it was a good book. So in the beginning you meet Byron Black who is in love with Alex who, has different names throughout the book, he is seeing but not sure if she feels the same as he does. He is also a cop. Alex is a thief and pretty darn sexy one a that. Black and Alex get into an accident and that changes everything. He thought her knew her but was way off mark. Years pass by when their paths cross and this time there is a Luca. He is also a thief. So when Alex and Luca are out trying to steal the same item, Black is hot on Alex’s trail. What will she do? What will Black do? How does Luca fit in all this. This is a huge cat and mouse game and someone’s time is about to be up? What will happen? Overall this has the excitement of being caught, finding love and losing it. You will need to read to find out how it all goes down.

This is my first book by Sophie Lark, and I really enjoyed it.
This was a quick read about art heists, two thieves, and a cop. It was entertaining with suspense and some hot sex scenes.
Will Lex choose Black or Luca?
I recommend this book to anyone who wants a suspenseful thriller

Unique love triangle: honor among thieves and cops?!
SAPPHIRE is the first in a series by Ms. Lark. I had already read BLACK, book #2 in this series so I was interested to find out how Byron Black got to be the way he started in that book. This was a beautifully told story of a man’s love for a woman beyond comprehension and the choices he made.
Byron Black is Chief Superintendent and a rising star in the London police force until he brought his lovely date to a swanky affair, only for something terrible to happen. He moved from London to America and joined the FBI where the code is a little more relaxed. Because of his recent reputation he has been assigned to the Art Task Force to locate and apprehend the art and the thieves, which allows Black to keep tabs on Lex.
On that fateful night Black’s date was Lex, a beautiful woman who he planned to ask to marry. Unaware that Lex had a devious motive to be with him and at this affair. She disappears after that terrible night and for two years Black has been tracking her. When he finds her, she is “with” another man. That man being Luca who is an art thief but scrupulous and trying to get out of the situation he’s in. Can she trust him?
Suspenseful, charming, steamy love story. Loved the ending. Not to worry about Byron Black who will get his well-deserved HEA in BLACK, the next book. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through BookSirens and I bought it as well. If you like mystery, suspense and steam, read this book!
This book was truly delightful to read. Lex is quite great at taking things that are not hers. Lex gets involved with Byron Black, but that was definitely a mistake on her part because she stole his heart. Lex leaves suddenly which triggers Black to search for her. Lex meets Luca during one of her jobs and the rest is history, entertaining history. Luca and Lex are a better match than Byron Black and Lex. This story is full of twists and turns that kept me thoroughly engaged and eager to turn the pages to find out what happens next.
