Allegiance, faithfulness, honor…Loyalty goes by many names.Emmie Landon is off-limits. She has a young son, works with my brother Jake, and lugs around enough baggage to fill an entire football stadium. But I can’t resist her long, shapely legs and thick, soft curls, begging to be wrapped around my hands. Mark Harrington is too-everything. Too good looking, too funny, too charming, too brutally … charming, too brutally honest, too impulsive. He’s accustomed to getting his way, and never afraid to throw down the gauntlet. So what if I can’t stop thinking about his devilish blue eyes and his lip-smacking happy trail?
He needs someone to love.
She needs someone to love her.
Two seemingly incompatible lives…
Two hearts capable of total devotion.

Truly, what a heartwarming story Eva Charles has gifted readers! Having two characters that melded perfectly, giving one another exactly what they needed, when they needed it, is pure literary bliss. Emmie’s noncommittal personality and Mark’s perseverance is a match made in heaven. Each scene between them unfolded magically; and Mark was the epitome of swoon-worthy. His sensitivity towards Emmie and her family allows for their relationship to grow as needed. And in this heavenly mix of soft and hard that is Mark Harrington, lies true book boyfriend perfection. Breaking through Emmie’s ironclad walls proves to be a challenge, but it’s one he is willing to undertake.
Eva Charles has outdone herself with this story. She provides a perfect, sexy, loving mix that romance readers search high and low for. Emmie’s and Mark’s story is captivating and touching. And Loyal Subjects is an all encompassing, elaborate romance story that should never be missed.
This is my first Eva Charles book. I really enjoyed reading the story of Emmie and Mark. Emmie’s a single mom with a lot of baggage. Mark’s a lawyer with a firery temperment and impulsive mouth. Will they be able to get past everything and find each other. Read and decide for yourself. I look forward to the next Eva Charles book.
Loyal Subjects came and smacked upside the head with a big dose of “NOW WHO’S YOUR FAVORITE!?” Everyone stand aside because this book will take over your life the second you start reading. Packing everything from heartfelt make you cry emotion to humor that has you cracking up and once again getting the side eye from those around you this book is fantabulous *stop judging my word choices. Fantastic + fabulous= fantabulous*
I actually have not read any of the other books in this series (something I shall be rectifying immediately) so rest assured this can 100% be read as a standalone. That said, Mark is my favorite. He’s the favoritest of favorites *I said don’t judge my word choices* for me. He’s funny, smart, sweet, insanely sexy, and sweet should be mentioned twice because the man is an expert of swoon. Emmie definitely comes with a lot of baggage from her traumatic past and Mark handled all of it as of it were weightless out of the sheer love and adoration he had for her and her precious little boy. Together they made such an adorable and heartwarming couple and with her son became the sweetest little family.
What a sweet read. Mark and Emily meet when she joins Mark’s brother Jake for lunch one day. After this one meeting their lives intertwine and Mark can’t stop thinking about Emmie. Emmie has had a hard life and is trying to raise her young son the best she can. I enjoyed this book but I have to admit that Emmie’s over protectiveness toward her son was a little much to me. The poor kid couldn’t even go to the bathroom without a bunch of rules. Yeah, I got it after learning about her past but I was SO thankful when she let Mark in and allowed the kid some room to breathe. I loved Mark. He pushed Emmie’s boundaries until she had no choice but to relent. She definitely needed him in her life. Then of course there was Ruth. I understood her love for the only family she had left but she just wasn’t nice until the very end. I’m glad Mark came into Emmie and Teddy’s life and shook their world. They were to restricted and not allowed to fully life until he did. A good series with character’s that you will love! *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
A guarded heart is a lonely heart.
A very heartwarming and sometimes frustrating tale of opening your heart after so much heartbreak.
This story is both sad and joyous on many levels. Emily can’t, won’t, or doesn’t know how to let anyone into her heart. As a widow and single mother she holds her relationship with her young son very sacred and is so very overprotective of him. Mark is ready and willing – to his own surprise – to jump in to their inner circle and love them both. Emmie isn’t so sure of that and is very reluctant to let him in.
I liked this book a lot and would love to read the other books in this series that revolve around Mark’s large, crazy, and very loving family members.
I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Loyal Subjects and wow was I right! This has all the feels and it’s perfect for your next summer romance! To say was definitely worth the wait is an understatement. I couldn’t put it down. I wasn’t so sure about Mark in the beginning and Emmie wasn’t fully on board either but ever persistent Mark (and that he was hot didn’t hurt either), well he was absolutely swoonworthy and you may or may not shed a few tears! Following in the same style of the books in the series the family dynamics between Mark’s family and add to the mix Teddy and Grandma Ruth are off the charts and I absolutely love that!

Loyal Subjects is the first book I have read by Eva Charles and I was left wanting more. I laughed, I cried, I wanted to smack people, and most of all I fell in love with Mark, Emmie, and Teddy. Ruth, not so much. Witch.
Mark has to be one of the most patient men I have read about. He was understanding of Emmie and her past and Teddy. Heck, he even tolerates Ruth –that is a ducking chore.
Emmie has had a rough life. After losing her husband years ago, she has started a new job and meets Mark.
As the book progresses things do get a bit bumpy but believe me, the bumps are worth it.
Ruth did get on my nerves quite a lot to the point to where I wish I could have shut her up myself. Although, after you get into the book a ways, you understand why she is the way she is but it still does not give her an excuse.
Emmie and Mark have some sizzling chemistry and the sex between them is scorching. Emmie did go a bit overboard with her insecurities in my opinion. Yes, things happened to her but darn, it gave me quite the headache at times. Mark wants to be there for her, he falls for her and Teddy but she is very reluctant to let him in. Teddy is just the sweetest thing ever! I wish I could just hug him! Teddy speaks it like it is and does not let his mom come in between him and Mark.
If you love all emotions, read this book. Seriously. It is just that good.
