Some folks are born with a silver spoon jutting right out of their mouths. Others are a bit more like Miss Harmony King. That poor thing bounced in and out of so many foster homes growing up, that even my head spun circles trying to keep track of them all.Once Harmony hit eighteen, though, she disappeared from Charleston altogether. Fast forward nearly a decade, and now she’s back, bent over a … bent over a pew, and praying like her life depends on it. I’d reckon that just maybe it does.
Of course, I don’t know why this young woman left our town, and I don’t know why she’s come back now—but one thing I do know beyond the shadow of a doubt is that God meant for us to find each other again.
So I told Harmony the story of the special Chihuahuas born in our church’s nativity scene last Christmas Eve, and that our Muffin, in particular, wanted to help her if she’d let him. Yes, our church dogs have worked miracles before, and by the grace of the Almighty, I think they might just be about to perform another…

Little hard to get on board with the dog going to a stranger within a few minutes of showing up…..now if it was a cat
I love this series. As a chihuahua mama myself, I know how much love and comfort these small fur balls bring. They are also fierce protectors. This is a clean, heart warming romance where Harmony returns to Charleston to try to escape an abusive boyfriend. She finds warm, welcoming people and a special chihuahua to help ease her fears and provide a sense of family. This is a Melissa Storm book so there are dogs, interesting, believable characters and a well written romance. This one has a bit of suspense. I highly recommend this book.
Woman’s life growing up. Feeling unwanted, moved from foster home to foster home. Runs from abusive boyfriend and finds new meaning. Finds love in small dog and new friends!
Thank you.
I love reading stories about dogs. Very entertaining.
Very interesting, surprising how the dogs worked into the story.
Sweet book. Love the little dogs that work healing in our lives.
Cute story. Not anything exceptional but was a little different than the norm.
Good one! The plot is interesting and has some intriguing twists that had me turning pages quickly. The use of comfort dogs is a nice touch. Enjoy!
I think this is a well-written story that I enjoyed reading. I like the use of a therapy dog. He helps Harmony, is so cute & funny. Harmony certainly does have low esteem & anger issues but does get over them. There is an HEA.
I think the book is worth buying & reading.
It gave me insight into foster children’s lives.
Harmony has been kicked around all her life, so trust doesn’t come easily but she does have a degree of trust for Pastor Adam. Pastor Adam and his daughter, Abigail, sense that Muffin is just what Harmony needs. Melissa Storm packs this story with romance, danger, cuteness and learning to trust. I enjoyed reading Harmony’s journey. Muffin’s cuteness is a plus.
This light inspiring story brings us back to Charleston and Pastor Adams. Harmony is a woman who is in a self spiraling circle and keeps hurting herself. Muffin is our miracle dog in this story and opens Harmony to love. I enjoyed this story and watch as Harmony grew in love and became the woman she was meant to be.
What a great story about Harmony King, who was a foster child that grew up in Charleston and now has fled back to that town and Eternal Grace church. In reading this book you can watch her character emerge like a butterfly from a lonely, unwanted foster child to an adult who is learning to trust, let love in, and realize she has a family through Pastor Adam and his daughter, Abigail, and the church dogs along with Virginia Clementine, and Nolan Murphy. I enjoyed watching how Muffin was able to help Harmony find her way back. Those cute chihuahuas. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
Fleeing Fear
Harmony took off as soon as she turned eighteen and had aged out of the foster system, trying to run away from her past. But of course she brought it with her everywhere she went–and then she ran into someone from childhood who had her running back home. This beautifully told tale is a heavily faith-based story, starting with Harmony’s own strong belief, which has held her together all these years, and spreading out to encompass all around her as she learns to trust and love, starting with a small dog. (Hello! Church Dogs!!!) An engaging and inspiring tale.
LITTLE LOVES is the second book in the Church Dogs of Charleston series. Though each will stand on its own, I highly recommend reading them all. The prologue is the same in each and describes how the pups and Mother Mary were discovered on Christmas Eve.
I only highlighted one passage. In fact, I read it to my dog and my boyfriend, and we continue to repeat it around our house. Around here, “miracle” is just a fancy word for “Chihuahau.” You see, we have a Little Love of our own and her name means Teeny Tiny in English (It is actually Xiao Xiao, but that is Chinese, and most people can’t pronounce it.) For that reason alone, these stories truly touch my heart. Add in a foster child – of which I had many foster brothers and sisters. Then the fact that she is escaping a domestic violence situation – which I have had my hand in assisting many times – and I am just going to write the word sucker on my forehead!
Beyond loving Harmony and Muffin, Nolan is the stuff of dreams. He is meant for her in so many ways and the final showdown more than proves it. When he literally turns the other cheek for her, I cried for them both.
Do not miss this series, but especially this story. Fall in love with your own Chihuahua Miracle.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Little Loves is the second book in the delightful Church Dogs Of Charleston series but it can be read as a stand-alone. At eighteen Harmony leaves behind the trauma of foster care and her ex and returns to the only place she felt at home as a child. Pastor Adams discovers her in his church and immediately knows little Muffin, one of the wonderful church dogs, will help her heal. Together Harmony and Muffin, with more than a little help from Nolan and a nudge or two from her new friends, start a new life. This is a romance that features difficult subjects sensitively. It features all the favourite characters from book one and their dogs and has a HEA so what more do you need? I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I am already looking forward to the next book in this series
This a wonderful of starting over with the help of Faith, friends and a puppy named Muffin. Harmony King is running from her ex and returns to Charleston. She runs into Pastor Adams and he give her a puppy. While taking care of the puppy she learn how to love and be loved. She meets Nolan a nice guy who is there for her. These characters are believable and draw you into their world. Recieved an advanced reader copy and voluntarily giving my honest review. Recommend this to everyone who enjoys a great wholesome story.
Little Loves by Melissa Storm is book 2 of The Church Dogs of Charleston series. After reading book 1 of this series, I was anxiously awaiting her next book. Melissa did not disappoint. Harmony’s story of always running and not being able to trust kept me engrossed in this book with every page turned. The pastor in Charleston gave Harmony a tiny bundle of love named Muffin as a therapy y. A chihuahua as a therapy dog? Absolutely! They are never ending love, furry companions. This is a wonderful, heartwarming story with a little suspense. I just adored it! I am waiting for the next one!
God is so amazing at what he does for us.
This book is a good example of what having faith and believing in God can do.
The dogs were darling and the plot was so intriguing.
I loved how it showed their lives as they give it to God.
Melissa Storm is an amazing writer and I look forward to reading her books.
This was a sweet, well-written story. Harmony has had a tough life, growing up in foster homes, and now she has come back to Charleston for a fresh start. She goes to the church she used to attend and the pastor tell her about the Chihuahuas that were born in the church’s nativity scene the previous Christmas. One of them, Muffin, is ready to help her heal. I enjoyed this heartwarming story and look forward to reading more books in the Church Dogs of Charleston series.
