Quinn Riley has just had the rug pulled out from under her. The entire focus for the twenty nine year old has been her job in Savannah, Georgia. After being laid off, she is quick to start the hunt for another job when she is struck by a car in a pouring rain storm. She believes she is dead, as she stares upon her own lifeless form and is greeted by a stunning girl in a blue dress. Upon waking … from a two- month coma, she learns that her sister Mallory has been making plans for her, but the experience she had with the mysterious girl continues to elude her. Quinn is trying to wrap her head around all that has happened, adjusting to a new life with a practical and attractive stranger, Caleb.
Quinn knows that there is more to the vision she had that fateful day and entrusts her sister and new roommate to help fill in the blanks. During a fact- finding mission, Quinn and Caleb run into Leah Sawyer, a forensic psychologist who went to school with Caleb. Quinn experiences new and uncomfortable feelings of jealousy and wariness around Leah, but reluctantly agrees to allow Leah to help in any way she can.
Meanwhile, her visions return and become more vivid, filled with disturbing images involving the mysterious girl and what may have happened to her. Realizing that what she is seeing may be real, Leah seeks out the expertise of law enforcement and her dear friend, Mama Cornelia. With Mama Cornelia’s eccentric insight, Quinn discovers that there is far more to the story than she could have imagined. Digging deeper into the investigation, Quinn wonders if she has gotten in over her head. Her own safety is at stake as she discovers the truth about the mysterious girl’s past. Amidst an active police investigation and spiritual encounters with Mama Cornelia, Quinn realizes that there is no turning back, and she must learn how to protect herself and those she loves all too quickly.

Great thriller. Wonderful characters. Quinn is on her way home after being fired, saves a stray dog from being run over, and is injured and in a coma for two months. When she awakens she has blackouts and during those she sees dead people and scenes that happened in the past. The police bring her in to help solve a murder because the dead girl is talking to her. But helping the police puts her in danger from the killer, and there are other secrets that will be revealed. The killer is smart and a psychopath. Will her visions keep her safe or will she be his next victim? l I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I offered to review this audiobook because I am such an an avid reader but also almost exclusively audio due to my schedule. Because of this, and the fact that a bad narrator can destroy a great series, I can be very critical of narrators. Especially when books have a single narrator required to speak with different voices for multiple characters. Most cannot do it without having some errors where they use the wrong ‘voice’ for the wrong character. Sommer Hines does a great job in narrating this book! It was a very enjoyable listen and I didn’t have any issues distinguishing between characters.
As to the story, I am not one to give a lot of specific story details since I feel you should read the story for that. Lowcountry Incantations includes great character development and plot twists that will keep you listening long into the night. While this is book 1 in a series, it stands alone as well. However, I am excited to see what happens in book 2. You definitely won’t be disappointed if you decide to give it a try!

Captivating, blood chilling, thrilling, intriguing
drama unfolds as Quinn Riley loses her job.
While looking for a new job, she spots a dog
stranded in the rain in the middle of the
street. She goes to rescue the dog. She is
hit by a car, ending up in the hospital in a
coma for about two months.
In the interim, her whole left flashes before
her when she believes she is dead. She
meets the spirit of a young girl in a blue dress.
But wait can this be real…..
Even after she leaves the hospital and goes
to recover this girl magically makes contact
with her. Who is this ghostly girl? What does
she want with her? How was she murdered?
Along with Mallory (Quinn’s sister), Caleb (
Quinn’s roommate), Leah Sawyer (a forensic
psychologist), Mama Cornelia (a woman with
psychic insights, knowledge of spells and
incantations), Quinn will find herself on an
electrifying, breath taking adventure.
Multifaceted, colorful, quirky, vivid characters
with interesting backstories.
Intrigue is heightened to mountainous proportions
in this well plotted, skillful written story.
This story grips you from the beginning. It intensifies
until the final word.
A Highly Recommended Read!!
I volunteered to read Lowcountry Incantations.
Thanks to the author for the opportunity. My opinion
is voluntary and my own.
Magical and ghostly things aside, when I read about psychopaths and the things they do to hurt people, it total freaks me out. I know this was just a story, but I feel like I’ll be looking over my shoulder a lot! This book was that good that it drew me in this way. And I enjoyed the magical and ghostly parts of it too.

I was given a copy of the audiobook by Story Origins. The narration was well done. Summer Hynes has a slow soft-spoken voice which is appropriate for a novel set in Savannah but she does not have a really heavy Southern accent. The story starts with a vision which is somewhat confusing until we see it for what it is. We meet Quinn as she has lost her job. She tries to save a dog from the road, is hit by a car and is in a coma for 2 months. Straight from the hospital she moves in with a man she doesn’t know but has been at her side throughout her coma. This was the part of the book I had the most trouble with, but her sister trusted him and he had after all adopted the dog she had saved. The supernatural parts of the book were well done and believable, with visions, ghosts and old woman witch doctor in the Gullah tradition. The plot is well developed and has several twists and turns. I enjoyed the book. It is part of a series and I look forward to the next one.
This mystery has a charm of its own. Full of the supernatural and a southern charm with a dash of romance. I truly enjoyed it.
This book was amazing. It was so filled with suspense that I didn’t want to put it down. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I definitely recommend this for anyone who loves mystery or thriller books.
This was my first experience with an Audible book, and it was a good one. The story was engaging, and the narrator has a voice that enhances the story’s supernatural elements. As I mainly read for escapism, it does not matter whether the area in which the story occurs is accurate. For me, believable and relatable characters are more important.
I enjoyed the story and would like to listen to or read the next instalment.
This was my first C.J. Geisel’s book, and won’t be my last. This is the first book in the Lowcountry Psychic Series, a Paranormal Mystery Series. The characters are amazing, and well developed. The storyline is captivating, and thrilling, filled with mystery, twists and turns, and romance! Some scenes are scary! I love ghost stories! Sommer Hines did a great job with the narration. Looking forward to listening to Lowcountry Convictions, the next book in the Series.

I Highly Recommend this book!!
I loved this story. It has a little bit of several things. There is mystery, murder, suspense, ghosts, a psychopath, and his two henchmen, plus romance. Cannot ask for anything more. Highly recommended.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Quirky characters and an intriguing plot, and filled with physic occurrences, this book is hard to put down.
I received a copy of Lowcountry Incantations by CJ Geisel in exchange for my honest review, and here it is. Lowcountry Incantations is a well written paranormal thriller with tons of twists and turns to keep you guessing as to what will happen next. There is also a hint of romance in story that you cannot help but to fall in love with the characters. The story flows perfectly that you just cannot put the book down. If you are into paranormal thriller, mystery, with light humor, then this book is for you. It is a must read. I am totally looking forward to the next book in the series.
Savannah is the ideal locale for this adventure! Quinn is quite the bittersweet character after a series of losses and emerging from a coma. She becomes surrounded by others with a variety of quirks, unusual gifts/strengths, and weaknesses. Captivating blend of mystery and the paranormal. Quinn can be a bit foolhardy at times, but that’s part of her charm. An engaging read till the end. Looking forward to Book Two!
Lowcountry Incantations: Book One, my first read from author C.J. Geisel. Well-written paranormal crime thriller with intriguing, well-developed characters. I look forward to the next book in the series. Owning both the Audible & Kindle editions I was able to follow along while being read to. “I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.” (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
Romance and intrigue. I am not a fan of the pair together. It was filled with twists and turns that I still cannot understand. It was great for conflict but defied logic. I really liked the rescue dog. All and all a good story. I got this book through storyorigins and this is my voluntary and honest review.
I really enjoyed Low Country Incantations, the story is very interesting, exciting, funny and sad, I found it was very hard to stop once I got into it. The main character, Quinn, is very believable, she has had problems with men and finds it hard to believe that anyone is interested in her unless they have a reason. After a serious accident, when she tries to save a stray dog caught in traffic, her whole life changes. I’d recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a physic thriller, with a bit of romance that’s suitable for teens and adults. I voluntarily reviewed this book.
Excellent supernatural crime thriller. Unpredictable to the end, this book is very entertaining. The narrator mispronounced many words, but she sounds very young, and may improve with experience. The book was not overly impacted by this, but, if using her in future, I recommend careful review of her work. I received a free review copy of the audio version of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Lowcountry Incantations is Book One in a new series by C.J. Geisel.
There is potential for this series. The supporting characters are really interesting. There would be a lot of opportunities for Quinn to use her gift. I love Savannah as the setting.
I read this in one sitting. It has some intense sections.
But, there are a few things I had issues with. The circumstances that led to Quinn living with Caleb make no sense and Quinn isn’t very nice to the people around her. I understand her concerns about a romantic relationship but not treating everyone the way she did. Hopefully she will be a little nicer in the next book.
I look forward to book two in the series.
I received this book as a gift and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
