Quinn Riley has just had the rug pulled out from under her. The entire focus for the twenty nine year old has been her job in Savannah, Georgia. After being laid off, she is quick to start the hunt for another job when she is struck by a car in a pouring rain storm. She believes she is dead, as she stares upon her own lifeless form and is greeted by a stunning girl in a blue dress. Upon waking … from a two- month coma, she learns that her sister Mallory has been making plans for her, but the experience she had with the mysterious girl continues to elude her. Quinn is trying to wrap her head around all that has happened, adjusting to a new life with a practical and attractive stranger, Caleb.
Quinn knows that there is more to the vision she had that fateful day and entrusts her sister and new roommate to help fill in the blanks. During a fact- finding mission, Quinn and Caleb run into Leah Sawyer, a forensic psychologist who went to school with Caleb. Quinn experiences new and uncomfortable feelings of jealousy and wariness around Leah, but reluctantly agrees to allow Leah to help in any way she can.
Meanwhile, her visions return and become more vivid, filled with disturbing images involving the mysterious girl and what may have happened to her. Realizing that what she is seeing may be real, Leah seeks out the expertise of law enforcement and her dear friend, Mama Cornelia. With Mama Cornelia’s eccentric insight, Quinn discovers that there is far more to the story than she could have imagined. Digging deeper into the investigation, Quinn wonders if she has gotten in over her head. Her own safety is at stake as she discovers the truth about the mysterious girl’s past. Amidst an active police investigation and spiritual encounters with Mama Cornelia, Quinn realizes that there is no turning back, and she must learn how to protect herself and those she loves all too quickly.

Quinn’s life was turned upside-down with head-spinning suddenness. It started with losing her job… and went downhill from there.
But she is a tough cookie, and holds up well as working with cops to catch a killer and talking to a ghost become part of her everyday life. An unlikely alliance with a witch doctor and romantic tension with her new roommate add extra interest to the story.
I enjoyed the setting as well. Although I have never been to Savannah, the book made me feel like I was there.
A good read for lovers of paranormal mysteries!
This is the first time in encountering this author with the story drawing my interest. I do so love a ghost story with this having that in the story. Quinn will grab your attention with all the weirdness that keeps hitting at her left and right. New territory seems to be the norm for her to travel in her life. It is also nice to have caught this at the beginning also what seems to be a new series. The others that are in this also are part of the characters that add color to this already colorful story. It captures you from the start until the end so you will find it hard to leave it for very long if you have too.
I really enjoyed this book. The story is well written and kept my interest. The characters are enjoyable and well developed. I plan on reading more from this author. (I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.)
Lowcountry Incantations is a wonderfully descriptive paranormal thriller. The characters are well developed, and the storyline is great. Ms. Geisel’s writing kept my attention throughout this entertaining tale. I do hope to see a second novel with these characters.

Quinn Riley life is no longer recognizable. First she loses her job, the she is hit by a car saving a dog. After having a near death experience and a lingering coma, she gets blackouts. With the help of her sister, a new friend Caleb, a psychologist, Leah, and a root doctor she seeks answers.
This is a wonderful psychological paranormal thriller with great characters and a complicated storyline. The characters are interesting with distinctive personalities that engage you in the story. The different elements of serial murders, personal tragedy, romance, paranormal abilities, good verses evil are woven expertly into a suspenseful story that holds your interest until the end. I liked the personal development of the main character as she tries to overcome an overwhelming amount of internal and external obstacles. The subject matter like most psychological thrillers is dark and add to that the paranormal aspects it can give you chills at times. This is a well written book and worth reading if you enjoy a great thriller.

inconsistencies in characters description of Savannah, GA. don’t know how the author could make that mistake. what kind of family has their child go live with a perfect stranger after being in a coma for months? this family was supposed to be loving and tight knit, i don’t really like books that put taboo subjects as the theme ie rape, incest, bullying, and other forms of abuse. if this doesn’t bother you than you might like the book. i just couldn’t invest myself with the character and what she goes through.
Beware: this story includes scenes of physical abuse with strong indications of sexual abuse.
Contains several characters on the verge of being wonderful: Quinn, Mallory, Caleb, Megan, Leah, Nate, and Cornelia to name the most prominent. For me, they and their relationships needed more development. The villain is a sick psycho who plays too significant of a role in the story for me. One chapter, near the end, was simply over-the-top disgusting as far as I was concerned so I ended up skipping it.
I received a copy of this book as a gift. This is my honest review.
I’m not a fan of ghost/spirit stories. But this one is well written, well told. Great characters. Great plot. Romance. Violence. An all around great listen.
I voluntarily reviewed this Audible version of this book from StoryOrigin. .
This book just did not click for me. I found somethings seemed ridiculous. Who stays with a stranger after being in a coma when there is family? I found myself not caring about the characters or what happened and tuning out most of the time. The narration was on the whiny side, Overall, it’s ok but could have been better. I received a free copy for review.

Before i get in to why i didn’t like this book, i would like to praise Sommer Hines for her excellent narration. She did a great job.
Ok, this book. -_- Quinn gets hit by a car, saving a dog from the middle of the road. She’s in a coma for 2 months. Upon waking up, her sister convinces her to move in with a guy that was there when she was hit. He’s been by her side this whole time but Quinn doesn’t know him. This doesn’t seem to concern anyone and she moves in with him. this was my first problem with this book.
Quinn can now see a dead lady. She gets involved with the police and finds out the lady is real and her name is Megan. Along with some friends, she sets out to find Megan’s killer and solve this crime.
So my problem with this book is how Quinn repeatedly makes dumb decisions. She gets followed several times and attacked but doesn’t want to tell anyone cause they have enough to worry about. ugh Quinn please! And don’t forget she moves in with a complete stranger. I have 2 sisters and i don’t see this ever being something they would do and i sure wouldn’t be trying to convince them it’s a good idea. I won’t be continuing this series.
Overall, the audiobook was entertaining. The narrator did a decent job, but it was sometimes difficult to distinguish who was speaking based on the voice alone. But, the book was written in such a way that it wasn’t really an issue.
The main character was at times annoying – like when she wouldn’t give information about being followed, etc. And, I never cared for Caleb. Maybe it was because there was no real relationship building done. There were also times, especially at the end where things seemed a little contrived and supernatural powers (not Quinn’s) came from out of the blue.
But, it was an entertaining gothic read and I’m not sorry I listened to it. There were some good secondary character building and the tone was appropriate for the genre. If you like dark gothic novels, then give this one a try.
I can’t remember if the author gave a trigger warning in the book description, but there are mentions of incest and rape; although there is no graphic description.
I didn’t finish this book, because it was not my genre. I knew that it was going to be a ghost story, but was expecting fantasy not psychological thriller. If this is a genre that you enjoy reading, this might be the book for you though.
Warning: this book contains sensitive topics that might not be for all readers or at least all ages of readers.
I received an ARC of this book from Story Origin, and I’m giving a voluntary review.
