As with this series Susan M Boyer has yet again not let us down. I am left so excited to for the next book to see how Nate takes charge over the Christmas/Anniversary/newlyweds celebration. Merry/Joe, Carolyn/Frank, Liz/Nate, Poppy/Blake and our beloved Colleen have left us wanting more. We never want a character to be removed but as with life it happens.
The story line for today normal life was on point. Growing hemp and all the controversy is welcomed by some and opposed by others.
I kept trying to figure who the killer was, he did it I’m sure, we’ll maybe it was her, no it’s this other guy, oh maybe the group of them did it, these lady ganged up.. oh man when the true killer and the other chain of events came out, I was exhausted and thrilled. To have closure for unanswered things from the previous book was welcomed.
Thank you again Susan M Boyer for thinking of all your readers and fulfilling our thoughts.
I have read all of this series. Each gets better and better. Liz and Nate are great characters, and you fall in love with Colleen and the family as well. Funny in spots, always a great mystery to solve. This one brings us to a cross roads and it will be interesting to see whats next for our favorite PIs
Thank you Susan M. Boyer and publisher for allowing me to read an advanced copy of Lowcountry Boondoggle #9 in the Liz Talbot series. These are my own words and opinions.
This is one of the best series to read and #9 didn’t disappoint. I always love trying to figure out who done it. This book has so many suspects it was so hard to put the book down because you wanted to find the next clue. And then there is the adventures of Liz’s family.. Always good for a few laughs.
You have a hemp growing business trying to startup, three owners, the need for investors, a well off uncle, a murder, and a few suspects.
Throw in a best friend, a girlfriend, newlyweds, niece and nephew, Halloween decorations and you have a great book.
So set an afternoon or evening aside and join in a southern lowcountry adventure.
I loved this book as I do with all of Susan’s books!! Fabulous writer, southern charm in full force in her characters. Just another lowcountry family with all its quirks, family escapades and of course the one you put on the porch to wave and talk to themselves, or is there someone talking back from the swing. Truly amazing job on this book. And, yes I cried for one of my favorites.
Lowcountry Boondoggle by Susan M. Boyer
Jump right in and get your feet wet! Lowcountry Boondoggle does not disappoint. This is the 9th book in the Lowcountry series and I dare say one of the best. It can be read as a standalone book, but you will want to read the whole series. Ms. Boyer writes with all the southern grace of a real lady. Her descriptive language allows the reader to feel as if they are right there next to the characters in the book experiencing all the south has to offer: sweet tea, sawmill gravy, tree lined streets , church courtyards and historic charm.
In Boondoggle, Liz and Nate try to figure out who killed Professor Murray Hamilton, “the bowtie wearing, tea drinking, college professor”. He was a loving uncle, a revered teacher and a great friend. He was well-respected in his field. There are a lot of viable suspects. Each with a possible motive. But why, would someone kill him? What causes someone to act out in such a fashion?
I truly love Ms. Boyer’s writing style. The book is easy to read, the dialogue flows flawlessly and the character development is great. Can figure it out before Liz Talbot does?
Southern Sleuth, Liz Talbot, and her husband Nate are back on the job!
When a local college professor is found dead in his home after being poisoned, P.I. duo Liz and Nate have to sort through an ever-growing list of suspects. Was it a family member? A student? A scorned lover? Or maybe Brantley Miller- long-lost son of TV celebrity Darius Baker, who has a suspicious past? And who caused the explosion that destroyed the professor’s house, taking all the evidence with it?
Liz and Nate work tirelessly and employ all of their old tricks (and maybe even some new ones) to put the pieces of this unusual case together. And of course, no Liz Talbot story would be complete without her colorful cast of family members and local Stella Maris residents being up to all sorts of shenanigans!
Lowcountry Boondoggle will keep you on the edge of your seat and have you turning page after page while you laugh, tear up (maybe just a little), and dream of your next vacation to the Lowcountry. This latest installment in the series will leave you wanting more and wondering what will come from some potentially life-changing events for Talbot family. I can’t recommend the entire series highly enough! So clear your calendar and dive into Liz’s world!
Susan M. Boyer’s Liz Talbot Mystery series is smart, beautifully-written, and compelling. In each installment of this entertaining series, she takes you on an adventure through the incredible town of Charleston and (fictional) island of Stella Maris. Clues are dropped throughout the story, but Boyer cleverly distracts you with a cast of shady suspects, eccentric locals, and Liz’s zany, but loving family. She keeps you in comfortable suspense until the very end when you finally reveal “whodunit”!
*Thank you to Susan M. Boyer and Henrey Press for granting my request for an advanced copy of this book. All opinions and thoughts on this book are entirely my own.
Once again Susan Boyer delivers on another great Liz Talbot book. I don’t think I will ever be able to give Liz up. I slow down my reading half way through the Lowcountry books because I know I will miss that family of characters until Susan can pound out another. She keeps each book fresh and I have loved each one. I read them consecutively but that isn’t necessary. I received a pin advanced copy to review but my opinion is my own. I do not roll over on book reviews because I personally depend on them. If you like series this is a great one, if you don’t pick and choose. Lowcountry Boondoggle May be my new favorite which has been held by Lowcountry Bordello so far. Grab a copy on Kindle or book-book and relax and enjoy!
In Susan Boyer’s Lowcountry Boondoggle, the 9th in the Liz Tablot Mysteries, we return to Stella Maris and the Charleston area. Darius Baker’s son Brantley, with suspicion still surrounding the deaths of his adopted family, is investing in a hemp farm with two friends. The uncle of one of his partners, hesitant to invest in this new endeavor, is poisoned leaving his nephew Tyler with a significant inheritance. When the uncle’s house explodes in a fireball before the police can investigate, Liz and Nate are hired to look into the large pool of suspects. Is it possible that Brantley had a hand in this tragedy?
In addition to the mystery surrounding Darius’ son Brantley there are some big changes coming and a major plot twist. Ms. Boyer does not disappoint and you won’t want to miss this one! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy.
Thank you to Edelweiss, the author and publisher for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own. Susan Boyer has done it again!! If you are looking for exciting mysteries to read, this series is for you!! Liz and Nate are back on the case. I was torn between not wanting to put the book down because it was so good and not wanting to read it so fast because I didn’t want it to end!! Susan writes in a way that makes you feel like you are right there helping to solve the mystery or sitting at the table with Liz’s family! I love how descriptive she is in writing about the sights, sounds and tastes around Liz and Nate!! I recommend this series and book for anyone looking for a great southern, Lowcountry mystery!
Liz and Nate are back with another great mystery filled with plot twists and turns. Thankfully, we get a few visits from Colleen, too. This one is loaded with even more great restaurants that I am absolutely dying to try. Your stomach will be rumbling when you read about the delightful dishes that they are consuming while solving the case. Hang on to your seats, this is another awesome read that you won’t be able to put down.
Many thanks to the author, the publisher, and Edelweiss for allowing me an advanced review copy. These thoughts and opinions are, as always, my own.
I love this series of books. I was born in Charleston, but am living in upstate NY. These books remind me of my roots in Charleston and I enjoy knowing the places that are mentioned in the book. Stella Maris feels like a real destination, although we know it is fictional. I love all the characters in the book, from LIz, Nate, Colleen to all of the rest of the crew. Darius and his son returned in this book, and were an intricate part of the mystery. Some former mysteries were solved during this storyline and others were starting to form . I thoroughly enjoyed reading this mystery. If you have not read any of the Liz Talbot mysteries, you should.
Lowcountry Boondoggle is the 9th book in the A Liz Talbot Mystery Series by Susan M. Boyer. Once again Ms. Boyer wrote a wonderful story which drew me right in, making me forget everything else and did not let me go until I turned the last page. Even though this is the 9th book in the series it can very well be read as a standalone but why would you want to miss out on all the fun of the other books? There is enough background so that you are not lost. Lowcountry Boondoggle is a great cozy mystery. There are many twists and turns to keep you engaged, interested and guessing. The characters are well developed and make you feel like they are the friends from next door. The description of Stella Maris and Charleston makes you want to hop in the car and go there especially to eat at the restaurants. This book was a fun read and I highly recommend it. I am looking forward to more books from Susan Boyer. Thank you to BookFunnel, Susan M. Boyer and Henery Press for my copy of this awesome book!
Liz, Nate, and Colleen are back along with the rest of the gang. This story seems to be a bit more serious than the previous books. It’s a really good mystery, rich with South Carolina living, eating and cooking. I recommend that previous books are read in order before this book so that the characters are richer and their history of can be followed. I highly recommend and I am looking forward to the next book in one of my favorite series.
Thank you to Edelweiss, Susan M. Boyer, and the publisher for my advanced review copy. This review is totally my own.
I love most book set in the Lowcountry and have been a big fan of the Liz Talbot Mystery series from Book 1. I have called Charleston home for 5 years and love the accurate detail Susan puts into her books about the city, the culture, and food. I have discovered many new restaurants through her books, even though I live here. I’ll be trying Cru very soon. =)
All of the Liz Talbot books are very fast paced and exciting, Boondoggle is no exception. I couldn’t put it down and stayed up until 5AM to finish it in one day. From the beginning, I was trying to figure out “who dunnit” and was completely surprised by the outcome. Liz and Nate, their family, and friends are such characters…unique, endearing, and believable.
At one point, I believe that this was planned to be the final novel in the series. That would’ve made me so sad because there are obviously many more tales to be told. I’m thrilled this won’t be the end of the road for Stella Maris and its charming inhabitants.
I just finished reading an advance review copy of Susan M. Boyers’ latest Liz Talbot book, Lowcountry Boondoggle. Thanks to Edelweiss, the author and publisher! All thoughts are my own. Those who are fans of great mysteries will not be disappointed! Susan has given us another great installment from the lives of Liz and Nate and the Talbot family. This book has some great twists and turns and kept me guessing until the end. Just the kind of mystery I enjoy! For those who have never read a Liz Talbot mystery, I would highly recommend you get started! Liz and Nate are private investigators who live on the island of Stella Maris in the low country of South Carolina. Susan writes her books in such a way that you feel like you’re there with Liz and Nate and are listening in, just like Liz’s ghostly sidekick, Colleen. These books are great mysteries with a lot of humor – I found myself laughing out loud! Liz’ family add such color and humor to the books. Boondoggle can certainly stand alone if you’ve not yet started the series, but even if you read this one first, I suggest you read the entire series! All of these books are wonderful, well-written and keep you engaged. Like all of Susan’s books, this one was hard to put this down! I hated for it to end and can’t wait for the next installment! These characters are so great, you feel like you’re missing old friends and can’t wait to catch up on all that’s happened since you last got together! If you love mysteries, grab this one! You won’t be disappointed!
I loved it! This mystery series is one of my favorites. Liz and her husband make a balanced and coordinated private investigative team. They follow complex leads to a convincing end. Often they hash out strategies while dining at some of the most delicious sounding restaurants in Charleston. I desperately want to visit those places! The hilarious antics of her family and friends help lighten up some of Liz’s heavy responsibilities and she knows she is very lucky to have them. This author is excellent!
I would like thank Susan M Boyer and Henry Press for my advanced review copy of Boondoggle. This is a wonderful series. Each book in the series just gets better than last. Susan M. Boyer writes with such detail about all places in the book that you can really picture everything and feel like you are write there with Liz and Nate while the investigate.
I love the side stories about Liz’s family and Coleen. All the crazy schemes her dad comes up that drive her mom crazy….And her friendship with Coleen that continues even after death…..
The twist and turns in the plot make you second guess your choice of who the murderer and motive are and then second guess that guess again. Even though there are plenty of plot twist there aren’t so many that it leaves feeling turned around and confused. Everything is very smooth and plausible and streams together smoothly.
The only problem I have with this series is waiting on the next book…..
I feel like I went on vacation and when I returned I had Sunday dinner at Mamma’s to catch up with what had been happening in Stella Maris! Miss Susan knows how to write an original, suspenseful and heartwarming book, you just can’t put down!
Talbot & Andrews Investigations are at it again, this time with their past client, Darius Baker, and is son Brantly. Brantly talks his dad into investing in a hemp farm with his college friends, when a likable college professor is murdered. Liz and Nate start investigating the murder and find their may be many possible suspects. The storytelling is lighthearted with sprinkles of family life, Southern charm and a guardian spirit who makes you laugh and roll your eyes in all the right places. You will love it.
I highly recommend this new book in the Lowcountry series to readers and lovers of cozy mysteries!
Thank you to Edelweiss, the author, and Henery Press for the advance review copy and the opportunity to give my honest review.
I just finished Lowcountry Boondoggle. I love the characters and their personalities. Susan does a great job of making me wish I lived closer to Charleston, and I do need to make a list of all the restaurants Liz and Nate visit. And I get tickled pink every time Clemson gets a mention.
This book had several side stories that will keep Nate and Liz busy for a while. I can’t wait to find out where the stories go – hopefully not as grim as I fear for some.
Happy to return to the beautiful town of Charleston, South Carolina. My favorite husband and wife private investigators are on another thrilling case. Liz Talbot and Nate Andrews work tirelessly to help a former client, Darius Baker. By their side is the ever-helpful spirit guide, Colleen. She warns the PIs of potential danger that would be hard for them to overcome.
Another wonderful, cozy mystery from the amazing Susan Boyle. Cannot wait to read more stories from this author.
Thank you to the author and publisher for the ARC I received. These thoughts and opinions are my own about this delightful story with multilayered characters and events.
