Private investigators Liz Talbot and Nate Andrews are all set to enjoy some quality time on the beach. That’s until they get the news about Darius. Darius DeAndre Baker, star of the hit TV show, Main Street USA, has had enough of the Hollywood highlife. After ten years of visiting everyone else’s hometown, he returns to his own—Stella Maris, South Carolina. But the moving trucks have barely … barely unloaded when Trina Lynn Causby, Darius’s high school girlfriend, turns up dead, and the entire town reels as Darius is arrested.
Despite the mounting evidence against him, Liz and Nate believe Darius is innocent. They dig through a scandalously long list of suspects, including Darius’s three ex-wives—who have all arrived in Stella Maris—and his love child with Trina Lynn.
But Trina Lynn led a complicated life. She had at least one stalker and two suitors—one with a jealous wife who recently made a deliciously outrageous scene when Trina Lynn turned up at a charity ball.
As the danger mounts, Liz and Nate race to find a killer and clear Darius’s name—and keep him alive.

This series is always fun and entertaining. Love the characters!
Another great summer beach read from Susan Boyer. This is #8 in the Liz Talbot Lowcountry mystery series. Well written plot that had me reading it every chance I got. Liz and Nate try to prove that hometown boy, Darius Baker, didn’t shoot Trina Lynn Causby, even though they had a history. I don’t normally read books with ghosts, but Colleen, guardian of Stella Maris and Liz’s dead best friend, is quit a character. And then there’s Liz’s family dynamics which make you chuckle too. Nate’s hinting that he has something up his sleeve for the holidays. Already looking forward to next book to see what it is. Way to go Susan. Keep this great lowcountry series coming.
Love this latest book in the Lowcountry series by Susan Boyer! Very good writing, authentic and descriptive of Charleston, and a delightful cast of characters that live in the imaginary island of Stella Maris, off the South Carolina coast. Liz and her husband Nate, licensed private detectives, manage to get involved with yet another murder, this one happening on Stella Maris. Liz’s family always manage to provide wonderful laughs, and the end the culprit is brought to justice! Great reading! Also, not necessary to read the earlier books in the series, but highly recommended, starting with Lowcountry Boil.
I received this as an ARC for editing and an honest review. I have read all of the Liz Talbot books and they just keep getting better. Even though this book was an ARC, I have purchased all of the previous ones. If you haven’t read the Liz/Nate series, what are you waiting for? Fun, sassy, mysteries to solve with some romance thrown in. The characters are like friends. I loved the way Susan pulled in the characters. Her description of the low country makes me feel as if I am right there sipping a glass of sweet tea right along with Liz and the motley crew.
I love this series and think this might be my favorite one yet. It definitely left me with wanting to hurry over to Charleston for some yummy food and to the islands to smell the pluff mud. Great story and great twist at the end!! Can’t wait for Liz and Nate’s next adventure.
Another great book from Susan M. Boyer. I have read all nine of the Lowcountry books and have loved each one of them; Lowcountry Boomerang was no exception. The characters in the book are all lovable and so real. The area and the culture is so well described you will feel like you are right there with Liz Talbot and her husband, Nate as they investigate yet another mystery. I highly recommend Lowcountry Boomerang. It’s a wonderful cozy mystery!
I love this series!! They just keep getting better and better!! Susan is so descriptive in her writing you feel like you are right there in South Carolina with her!! The mysteries are always surprising and different in each book! A popular Hollywood star comes back home to Stella Maris and finds himself accused of murder!! Come along with Liz and Nate as they work to prove his innocence!! You won’t believe it!! And Liz’s dad, bless his heart, always has something going to get on her mom’s last nerve but Sunday dinner with the family must go on!! You can read these as stand alone mysteries but why would you want to miss out on all the goings on in this wonderful southern family?!
Loved it! Makes you think Stella Maris Island is a real place!! My favorite one so far!
Susan Boyer delivers again – it’s always fun seeing what Liz and crew are up to in Stella Maris and Charleston. I love that I can wander the beautiful streets of Charleston with Liz while she is solving mysteries. This one keeps the reader wondering is it a straight-forward crime of anger/passion or are there even deeper currents muddying the waters? With the help of family, friends, and a ghost, Liz is on the job.
I couldn’t put this book down! Many thanks to Susan Boyer for a sleepless night of page-turning!
I have read every book in this series and each one is my favorite until the next one comes along. This series gets better and better with each book and delivers a full range of emotions. I laughed (a lot!), cried (a little), and nearly fell out of my chair for being on the edge of my seat.
Susan played fair and gave me all the clues I needed to solve the mystery, but just like Agatha Christie, she skillfully distracted you from them. As with all the other books in this series, there are plenty of twists and turn to keep you guessing as the plot thickens.
And the characters . . . well, I feel like part of this crazy southern family. They are not just words on a page, they are people who live in your mind. They are fun and wonderful people that I look forward to sitting down with every time I pick up one of these books.
Well done Susan Boyer!! I can hardly wait for the next one!
*Note: I was given an advance copy of this book by the author. All opinions and reviews are my own.
Here is my Goodreads review for Lowcountry Boomerang
I received this ARC for a honest review.
I have been reading this series and was excited to receive this ARC.
Liz hears about the case of Trina Lynn Causby from her friend Moon who’s dating Liz’s very good friend Sonny. Moon just knows that Sonny wanted her to tell Liz something about this case and Liz can’t mention any names about who she heard it from.
So from the beginning we are drawn into this who killed Trina case.
The clues and suspects wind around and around and just when you’re sure you know whodunnit, you find out who really whodunnit and it sure was a complete surprise to me
Lowcountry Boomerang is well thought out and very well written. Such an enjoyable read. I hope the author writes fast for the next one…. it’s going to be hard to wait.
Lowcountry Boomerang by Susan M. Boyer and is the 8th book in The Liz Talbot Mystery Series. All of the books in this series are awesome but this I believe is the best so far. Even being that this is the 8th book in the series it can very well be read as a standalone, but why miss all the friends you will make reading the rest of the series. I was drawn into this book from the beginning and did not want to put it down. This is a fast paced mystery with plenty of twists and turns to keep you turning the pages. Just when I thought I knew who the culprit was I found out I was wrong, the ending sure was a surprise. The characters are very well developed. Lowcountry Boomerang is a very well written book with amazing descriptions of the people, the restaurants and of course Stella Maris. After reading this book and the series you will definitely want to take a trip there. I highly recommend this book and the whole series you will not be disappointed. I cannot wait until the next book comes out. Susan M Boyer and Henery Press thank you for giving me the opportunity to read and review this wonderful book.
The Liz Talbot Mystery Series is one the most enjoyable cozy series out there, and the eighth installment LOWCOUNTRY BOOMERANG is the best book to date. Full of relatable and likable characters, a complex murder investigation, and the fabulous Charleston, South Carolina, setting, it is a delightful read.
This installment finds Liz and her husband/partner Nate looking into the death of a local TV investigative journalist and trying to clear the high profile prime suspect’s name. Was Trina’s death a random act of violence, related to the secrets in her personal life, or a result of her poking around for a news story?
I love armchair travel, and Boyer’s depiction of Charleston and the surrounding region make me feel like I am right there in the midst of it all. I particularly enjoy the descriptions of the wonderful food from some of the area’s finest and most beloved establishments. There is something quite special about the Lowcountry, and Boyer’s love for it shines through on every page.
I really like all of the characters. They are well developed and realistically executed. I particularly love Liz’s parents whose relationship is endearingly quirky. Liz and Nate are intelligent and resourceful, and some of my favorite scenes are those in which the pair bounces ideas off each other working through the clues of the case. Unlike so many cozy protagonists, Liz and Nate are professionals so their investigating never seems forced or inappropriately nosy, and I appreciate that they work openly with the police. The mystery is solid with a somewhat surprising resolution.
LOWCOUNTRY BOOMERANG is a lot of fun. Highly recommended.
I gratefully received an ARC of this title through Edelweiss from the author and Henery Press. I voluntarily shared my thoughts here.
Susan Boyer has written a fun and witty mystery filled with love, hometowns, and some South Carolina suspects who will keep the reader entertained until the very end. The main characters are detectives with a mission who will take the reader through the clues with cleaverness & fun while discovering who really did murder the high school girlfriend.
Liz is on another problem solving adventure mystery through the town of scenic Charleston. I thought I had solved this who done it early in the story. Was I surprised that the murder was someone I had least suspected. A delightful read with wonderful characters.
Full disclosure, I received ARC for my honest review.
LowCountry Boomerang, the 8th book in the Liz Talbot Lowcountry series, is a well crafted mystery with many twists, turns and surprises. Liz Talbot & her loving husband, Nate Andrews, are private investigators working for the defense attorney representing retired reality TV personality, Darius Baker, who just moved home to Stella Maris. Darius had dinner with Trina, his former HS girlfriend. Shortly after dinner, Trina was found dead by a tourist & the next day, police arrested Darius for her murder!
In my opinion, this is the best book in the Lowcountry series. It can be read & enjoyed as a stand alone, but I’m a fan so have read & thoroughly enjoyed all the Lowcountry books. Susan Boyer’s characters are rich, complex, feel so real & funny! I feel as though I’m a friend of the Talbot’s as each book reveals more of each character’s soul. I laughed, cried and was on the edge of my seat til the very end when the killer was revealed due to the thorough PI work by Liz & Nate. They leave no stone unturned for justice.
Susan Boyer hit a homerun with this excellent book! It’s a MUST READ.
Great book with lots of suspense. Love that each book follows the same characters so you really feel like you know them. I can just picture Liz’s family and laugh along with them. Definitely recommend this book it will have you flipping pages to find out what will happen next. Good cliffhanger at the end. Can’t wait to read the next one to find out what happens
Opening a Lowcountry Book is like meeting your best friend at the local coffee shop, it makes you all warm and happy inside! This one felt a little different in the beginning that I couldn’t figure out, but equally as good as all it’s predecessors.
Local Hollywood star, Darius Baker, returns home to Stella Maris to enjoy the life he left behind only to be arrested for a murder! Now Liz and Nate, the married Private Investigator team, must find out the real killer. Tons of twist and turns and family drama to keep you entertained until the end.
Every Susan M Boyer Lowcountry book is like a family reunion. You get to spend some time with folks that you love. The latest installment, Lowcountry Boomerang, is no exception! These characters are so well-developed and enjoyable. The plots are interesting and keep you engaged. The locations of Stella Maris and Charleston can’t be beat! I highly recommend Susan M. Boyer and all the Lowcountry books to anyone that loves mysteries and great Southern characters!
I usually love this series, but this one seemed to go nowhere slowly. Lots of characters who weren’t that interesting. Next one will be better!
