Private investigators Liz Talbot and Nate Andrews are all set to enjoy some quality time on the beach. That’s until they get the news about Darius. Darius DeAndre Baker, star of the hit TV show, Main Street USA, has had enough of the Hollywood highlife. After ten years of visiting everyone else’s hometown, he returns to his own—Stella Maris, South Carolina. But the moving trucks have barely … barely unloaded when Trina Lynn Causby, Darius’s high school girlfriend, turns up dead, and the entire town reels as Darius is arrested.
Despite the mounting evidence against him, Liz and Nate believe Darius is innocent. They dig through a scandalously long list of suspects, including Darius’s three ex-wives—who have all arrived in Stella Maris—and his love child with Trina Lynn.
But Trina Lynn led a complicated life. She had at least one stalker and two suitors—one with a jealous wife who recently made a deliciously outrageous scene when Trina Lynn turned up at a charity ball.
As the danger mounts, Liz and Nate race to find a killer and clear Darius’s name—and keep him alive.

Another great Liz and Nate adventure. The characters in each of the Liz Talbot books are great and Lowcountry Boomerang was not exception. We meet so many new interest and hilarious characters. Liz and Nate are such a fantastic partnership, too. Boomerang kept me guesses until the very end about “who did it”. I also noticed there were some loose ends that I hope will be revisited in the next Liz Talbot book. I am excited to see what the next book holds for Liz, Nate, and Stella Maris.
Susan Boyer, you never seem to disappoint! Your descriptions of Charleston and the surrounding areas are amazing. And let’s not forget about the food! The scene with Liz, Nate, and their two murder witnesses was incredible. You definitely had me wanting to be there and share in their fine dining experience! Looking forward to at least the next two Liz books, especially the Christmas one! I also can’t wait to see what Nate has up his sleeve for the upcoming holidays.
Lowcountry Boomerang is the eighth installment in Susan M. Boyer’s Liz Talbot mystery series, set in Charleston and the nearby coastal islands. When Darius Baker, a local man who left the area after high school, made a fortune in reality TV, and now wants to retire, returns home to the island of Stella Maris, residents, including the PI team of Liz Talbot and her husband Nate Andrews, are curious. When Darius’ high school sweetheart, Trina Lynn Causby, an investigative reporter for a Charleston TV station, is murdered, curiosity turns to suspicion.
The death of Trina Lynn brings up secrets old and new. Darius has three ex-wives, and Trina Lynn had at least one stalker, two lovers, and a hot lead on an unsolved case. When Darius hires the defense lawyer who keeps Liz and Nate on retainer for investigations, they jump in to search for the truth.
One of the attractions of this series is the setting. Stella Maris, the other islands, and the city of Charleston play a big part in the story, and Boyer does a great job of bringing them to life. This is a series I thoroughly enjoy and heartily recommend.
Love the Low Country, Liz Talbot books. Each one is a pleasure to read.
I always enjoy the books in this series because the characters are interesting and fun, they are easy reads, entertaining, and are unpredictable.
Darius Baker, local celebrity, Mr. Main Street U.S.A., returns to Stella Maris for a relaxing break. Unfortunately after meeting with local television reporter, Trina Lynn Causby, who just happens to be his supposedly first wife for dinner, she is found shot to death. Liz Talbot and Nate Andrews, Liz’s husband, Private Investigators, are hired to help prove Darius’s innocence. With the help of their Guardian Angel and Liz’s best friend, Colleen, they strike out to provide proof for the law firm of Rutledge and Fraser. You will find the description of the various areas within Charleston will make you want to plan a vacation there. Susan Boyer hasn’t failed with this new book and it will be great to see what Liz, Nate and Colleen will strike out next.
Reading volume #8 in the Liz Talbot Mystery series, Lowcountry Boomerang, was a little bittersweet. As much as I’d looked forward to it, I’m now all caught up with the series and have to wait for author Susan M. Boyer to write the next book!
This latest edition hit all the marks I’ve come to enjoy – puzzling murder mystery, Liz and Nate’s growing and evolving relationship, learning more about Colleen’s mission, and the fun but touching antics of Liz’s growing group of friends and family on Stella Maris.
I love the variety of characters brought in with each new story. This particular case brought a quite colorful and unique group to the island – I’ll be eager to learn in future volumes which if any stick around.
I have to admit there were a few moments I was starting to feel a bit dizzy following Liz, suspects, and witnesses through the streets of Charleston. I may get a map of downtown/historic Charleston SC so I can follow along, or better yet maybe plan a trip to visit and see for myself!
