A woman with a troubled past. A new love hanging in the balance. Will an unexpected visitor strengthen her resolve or destroy the life she’s trying to build? Madeleine’s world, once so organised, is a mess. Suffering the fallout from the mistakes she made with Tag, she has no idea where she stands with Dan. Are they only friends or is there still a chance for something more? Enter James – cool, … more?
Enter James – cool, calm and calculated. A stranger, she thinks. But he knows her, and he comes with an opportunity she can’t refuse, involving an enemy she’d tried to forget. At first keen to return to her past, Madeleine soon realises it’s not only the gang that’s changed, and battles her own demons as well as an unpredictable villain.
Can Dan step up when he’s needed? Or will it be James who rides in to the rescue? Because when things go badly for Madeleine, and all hope seems lost, there is only one who can save the day. And only one who can bring more to the task than merely himself.
Loving Vengeance is the second book in this fast-paced duology. If you like strong heroines, character-driven action and powerful emotions, then you’ll love this exciting finale.

We are back with Madeleine and the twist and turns of her life. English countryside comes back to enchant us with its beauty and mystery of one particular character, Maddy. For me this was not the typical small town. This one had depths to its residence that would not have been believed outside of the realm in which they were all present. The underlying suspense was very good, but it was the choice that laid before Maddy that had me on my toes awaiting the start of each new chapter. Who will it be? Dan? James? Or do we dare say both?
As with the first of this duet, I very much enjoyed Henri’s narration. The accents and the dialect was what I believed to be authentic for the area. I could feel the highs and lows as we journeyed through.

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Georgia Rose. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.
I listened to the audio book version of Loving Vengeance and was so glad the same narrator also did it because she captures the main character so well.
Loving Vengeance picks up where Parallel Lies leaves off. I highly you read Parallel Lies first so you’ll have a full understanding of who Maddy is and why she does the things she does.
Maddy is a haunting character who will stay with you long after the read is complete. Her story is original as is the entire novel and it’s predecessor. The author kept me guessing as to what would happen next and that’s always great in a story. So often I can figure out what’s going to happen, and I mostly couldn’t in this one. Get it, read it, love it.
I loved this sequel to Parallel Lies. Maddy is one bad a– chic. She proved her loyalty to those she loves in spades. She also proves to herself that she has truly moved on from her past. Maddy and Dan are a terrific business team, but both wonder if they have anything left of their romance. I loved that Diane, Chris, Kourtney and the rest of the characters are back and add so much to this already fabulous romantic suspense. Lots of action and suspense keep the pages turning and I have to admit I was a little sad to see it come to an end.
4.5 Stars!
While I was content with the rather open-ending in the previous Parallel Lies, I was also excited that the author decided to continue Maddy’s story in Loving Vengeance.
This books picks up immediately following the ending of Parallel Lies with a rather surprising introduction and off it goes from there with another intrusion from Maddy’s past. The quaint small-town setting again features largely, but with a focus on Maddy’s closest friendships, a conniving bully, and their intersection with her past. The author did a fabulous job constructing scenarios where the reader gets closure in Maddy’s romance with Dan and with her dubious criminal history. While there were a couple of moments when the pacing slowed a bit for me, I still found the writing style compelling and I reveled in the climactic and fabulous ending.
Great follow up to Parallel Lies. Maddy(Scarlet), left a troubled life and moved away and changed her name. Her past is catching up to her. Detective Inspector James Lambert comes back into her life. Daniel is trying to be there for Maddy. A friend of Mattys husband has an affair and he thinks Matty is the one that told Letitia. Ben causes trouble for Letitia and some of Matty’s friends. Matty has to go back to her old life to try and resolve these items. This will be a dangerous task. This novel will keep you interested through the conclusion.
I’ve waited a long time to find out how Ms. Rose concludes the story after Parallel Lies. It is not an easy book to read as there is much explicit sex along with much profanity & a very evil, hurtful man. I do not like this kind of story so can’t give it more than 3/5 stars. It is a fitting ending to Parallel Lies.
This book is the anxiously awaited end of a duology. Though it stands on its own it is better enjoyed after Parallel Lies. Dive in today and pick up this intricately plotted story full of unique characters.
Maddy’s life is unraveling around her. She spent four years building a new life with a new name, only to have her past catch up with her in the form of her ex. He blackmailed her into betraying her employer and friend. But Maddy turned the tables on him and he ended up back in prison. However not before beating and raping her.
Now Maddy is faced with exposing her old life to people she loves and hoping she doesn’t lose everything she has worked so hard to gain. Her budding romance with Dan has stalled. She doesn’t know if he can forgive her lies, especially now while she is so broken and fragile.
What could be even worse for Maddy is being back on the police radar. There are many crimes in her past. Is this the time to pay for her previous life? Even if she manages to avoid legal trouble, which seems unlikely, she isn’t sure she still has a job.
When her past becomes known will Maddy lose the few friends she has? Can she stay out of prison?
I have been anxiously awaiting for this book, the follow up to Parallel Lies, to be published and it was well worth the wait. It is best to read the first book before this one, but it works as a standalone.
The first book is a story about how Maddy is starting over by reinventing herself and fearing her past is going to catch up to her. This story is about how the past has caught up to Maddy and how she is going to keep everything from falling apart. The story is filled with great characters, emotional highs and lows, with plenty of action to keep those pages turning. I highly recommend!
