After three seasons as a wallflower, Lettie Fairchild is resigned to spinsterhood. Mostly. Determined to claim more meaning for her life than seeing her younger sisters married, she seeks a purpose. She finds what she’s looking for when she happens upon a book describing seven curses that plague London.
Nathaniel Hawke, Viscount Adair, is attempting to adjust to civilian life after retiring from … retiring from the military, but his injured leg and memories of his time in the service prevent an easy transition. On his long walks during London’s darkest hours, Nathaniel is appalled by what he sees taking place on the dirty streets and alleyways. He is determined to take action. Coming upon a proper, if rebellious, lady in the desolate area both intrigues and frustrates him.
Nathaniel’s disregard for his personal safety infuriates Lettie even as her heart is touched by his determination to aid the city’s neglected children.
As the two wounded souls stumble upon each other time and again in slums and ballrooms, they realize they fight a common cause–and share an unbridled passion.
Will the curse they fight be their downfall? Or will love win the day?

I had difficulty putting the book down. It kept my interest even when I figured out what was coming up..
I enjoyed this romance novel more than I have other novels of that genre.
Found this one very enjoyable and easy to read. Will continue to look for books from this author.
Really enjoyed
Bought other books in series because I liked story so much.
Not your run of the mill formula romances.
Loving the Hawke has two less-than-perfect characters searching for meaning in their lives and finding each other, and danger, in the process. The Seven Curses series promises to be great, I’ve already ordered the next book!
Enjoyable read.
Lettie was so much more than she could ever imagine and I absolutely loved Nat to his core. “The Hawk” was so appropriate a title for him. Great read !!!
An enjoyable easy read.
Informative about conditions of the time, but not what I was looking for in a romance.
Interesting characters.
Great characters, can’t wait to read the next.
I liked that it was not just a romance book but had other plots going on as well. The author took time to develop the characters.
Entertaining.. action packed.. happily ever after
Nice story. Nothing really special, but enjoyable.
interesting to read about London’s poor in the 19th century
even today in the USA as well as the world, we have children in need of being rescued from people who wish to exploit them. We need more people to take an interest in seeing their needs for food, clothing, shelter and most importantly love are being addressed and met.
Loved this book. Boy meets girl Boy does not want to know girl… etc. Boy needs to grow up…
I loved the book.. I bought the next 2 in the series.
I loved the story so much that I also bought and read the sequel to this story.
