He’s a player. So what if he’s sweet. This is just a game to him. Except, he keeps looking at her different than before. Maybe it’s time to play right back.Sophie Nelson works hard to ease troubles in the lives of others. She’s a good-girl waiting for Mr. Right. Tanner certainly doesn’t fit the bill. Forget that they work together and he’s an epic charmer. No, Sophie is not going to touch that … Sophie is not going to touch that guy with a ten-foot pole. Even if she really wants to.
Tanner is a professional at work, but that doesn’t mean he can’t play at night. Settling down with one person is a fantasy because true love doesn’t exist. Being rejected by Sophie shouldn’t have made a bit of difference in his life. Only it did. She throws him off his game. He wants to sit down and…get to know her? And what’s with the need to kiss, but not touch?
The fifth and final book in a standalone series of romantic comedies will leave readers laughing and swooning until the end.

I love CJ Marie’s writing so much – and I’ve loved every book in this series. Sophie and Tanner couldn’t be more different and yet somehow, you know they belong together. This author’s ability to create characters with such depth and heart is what makes her books so wonderful. The dialogue is great and the familiar cast of characters from her other books just add another interesting layer to her stories. This is another funny, romantic read from this author. Highly recommend – all of her books! 🙂
I received a free ARC of this book and am providing a voluntary, honest review.
This is a sweet romance that proves that there is more to most people than meets the eye.
Sophia knew what she wanted out of life, and stuck to her needs, yet she was willing to look a little deeper at Tanner. Tanner didn’t want anything too heavy in a relationship, but he recognized that Sophia deserved more than a fling. When these two are forced to share an apartment because of a pipe leak on half of the building, it gives them time to get to know each other on a deeper level, to figure out the parts of each other that were “more than meets the eyes”.
Loving on the Player is the story of Sophie and Tanner. Both characters are well written and must overcome their pasts. Best of all they are part of this large, very supportive group that includes Sophie’s brothers, their wives, and other friends. The plot shows how hard you have to work to change opinions and actions formed by events in your past. Sophie and Tanner manage this while working toward their HEA. This entire series was great and I am sorry to see it end.
I’ve read all the books in this series and couldn’t wait to read Sophie’s story. Sophie Nelson grew up in a home where violence and abuse were the norm. While her older brothers tried to shelter her from most of the violence, she still bore the scars from that kind of life. She wanted to become a social worker so she could help others. She worked at a treatment center as an intern and couldn’t wait until she was a fully licensed social worker.
Tanner was an administrator in her building. Tanner had the well-earned reputation of being a player. He had a different women every night and never had a second date. He didn’t do relationships. His parent’s relationship had taught him that there was no such thing as love. People always got hurt. He had friends who were happily married, or so it seemed, but he was convinced that that was not for him. The problem was that he was Sophie Nelson’s neighbor and she was the epitome of good and light. He was drawn to her. He was sure that he would never deserve her and he didn’t believe that he could ever find The One!
This story dealt with some of the fall-out that exist when there is abuse and addiction in the home. I thought the story did a good job of being honest, without being terribly graphic.
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
Sophie is the baby girl of the group and now that she’s all grown up and on her own things are changing. While she is working and living on her own her co-worker who is also close friends with the gang who has become her and her brothers world. Tanner has a bad rep with being a player. Never settling on a woman and never dating may have had something to do with his parents and their relationships. Now though things are happening between him and Sophie. While they both have their own demons that are a part of their lives Sophie seems to have a better handle on it. I loved seeing these two together and how it came about. The thing I love about this series is that none of these were insta love. There is plenty of opportunity for them to get to know each other and become friends before they go any further and that just makes me love this author more. This series has been on point and so have the characters. I have enjoyed the laughter, growth, healing and love shared between them all.
