She’s a fireball ready to chew him up and spit him back out. He’s a smooth-talking, success story. Mr. Wrong could be Mr. right…if they don’t kill each other first.Defender of the underdog, Gemma Thomas, doesn’t have time for arrogant, hotshot, businessmen like Mike Raines. Their working relationship raises her skin like fingernails on a chalkboard, but maybe it’s a little tempting too.Mike … tempting too.
Mike Raines can’t seem to shake his thoughts of the woman who only offers snide comments and glares across the conference table. He knows he should forget Gemma and move onto someone else–even if most women want him for his money–until the day Gemma asks for a favor, Mike simply can’t refuse.
He’s up for the challenge. If Gemma doesn’t castrate him first, it might even be love.
Loving on Mr. Wrong is the second book in a series of comedic, contemporary standalone romances that will leave readers laughing, crying, and cheering for the lovers to the end.

I loved this story! I loved the banter back and forth between the spitfire, Gemma, and Mike, the Mr. Wrong. Lots of sparks flying between the two of them kept my interest in this story at a high level and couldn’t wait til the end of the book to see how it all ended. A few surprises and twists later wondering if they were really going to get it together, left me with a big sigh at the end. Very entertaining and well worth the read.
He pushed every button that could be pushed and drove her to distraction. She hated being controlled and after what her family had put her through she wouldn’t allow anyone close enough in her personal life to do it. The chemistry between these two is undeniable and when Gemma needs a plus one Mike is all in. These two fight a loosing battle trying to stay away from each other but Gemma and Mike find out that opposites do attract. The fire and piss between these two is so much fun while building up the fire and not letting the piss turn down the heat. This author won’t let it go down without some epic twist and turns that make this story awesome. Loved it and can’t wait to see what happens for the next couple. This is a standalone with carry over characters which help make it even more enjoyable if that’s possible. Between the abuse, his family, her family and all it entails you wont be able to put the book down.
I LOVE THIS SERIES!!!
If there’s one thing I love when I’m reading a novel, it’s not knowing EVERYTHING about the main characters. Real life is like that … you meet someone and you sure as heck don’t know everything about them. I love learning what makes the characters who they are … and if first impressions are wrong, well discovering another layer to the character(s) is the best part of a good story. This author does this so well. She takes you on a journey and slowly gives you glimpses into what makes her characters tick. This process makes likeable characters more lovable and complicated characters you may not like so much, redeemable. I find myself rooting for them and caring about them and yes – I hate to see the story end. This is exactly the kind of book I love. Good writing, good editing, excellent story line and characters that stay with you. HIGHLY recommend.
Gemma Thomas had left her controlling, wealthy family behind and made a name for herself in the business world. She was determined to escape her family’s need to control her life. She had locked up her heart and while she enjoyed men, she would never open her heart to a relationship with any man.
Mike Raines was a self-made tech guru who had created a business that was super successful but he had secrets. Those secrets about his family and the things from his past could destroy him. So, he was a bit of a Casanova, or at least that is what people thought about him. When he first met Gemma, she had yelled at him and he was captivated by this petite spitfire. Would these two ever be friends or more? Mike’s brother, Adam, and Gemma’s best friend, Blair, were now married so they were always at events together but the animosity was palpable between them. Then, Gemma, needed Mike’s help to throw her family off her back, she asked Mike to be her fake boyfriend for the weekend. That weekend might just change everything.
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review. I really enjoyed this book. This is the 2nd book in the Manhattan Sweethearts series and I enjoyed this one as much as I enjoyed the first. I’m excited for the teaser about book 3 to learn about Kate and Dex’s story. While there are sex scenes in the book, they are not descriptive and definitely behind closed doors. Since I don’t enjoy reading the details of other’s sexual experiences, I appreciate that.
Loving on Mr. Wrong, Manhattan Sweethearts Book Two by CJ Marie
Gemma Thomas started a successful investment company with her two friends and business has taken off. They have succeeded and Gemma couldn’t be happier.
Michael (Mike) Raines started his own software company five years ago with a little help from his older brother, Adam. Business is great and it has made him rich, but he is the same kid from Jersey.
Gemma is in a bind and she needs a plus one for her Grandmothers birthday party and someone to keep the wolves at bay. Her family seems to think that her ex-boyfriend Trent is her long-lost love and they won’t be happy until he puts a ring on it. Her best friend and business partner, Blair suggests she ask her brother in law, Mike. Under normal circumstances that would be a great idea, but they have always been like oil and water. With no other choice and a time crunch, she gets Mike to agree to be her pretend boyfriend for the weekend. Of course, it didn’t take much to get him to agree since he has wanted her since the first day they met over a year ago. She just won’t give him a chance, but he has the whole weekend to change her mind. Things heat up between Mike and Gemma as they try to convince her family they are a couple, but will their happy bubble last outside of the weekend or will it be back to normal come Monday?
Now I loved the first book in this series but this one is now my favorite. Both Gemma and Mike both have family issues, but each can lift the other when they fall. Mike called them a perfect broken match and truer words have never been spoken. The chemistry between these two was so incredibly sweet that you could tell the feelings ran deep for both. Like Mike said, Time to buy that bakery and the fish named dog! Well, I named it dog, but you get what I mean.
Loving on Mr. Wrong is Gemma and Mike’s story. For some reason, Mike always pushes Gemma’s buttons, until she needs a huge favor. With a family like hers, it is a wonder Gemma is so normal. There are several very funny moments in this heart warming romance. I dropped everything else to just sit and read this book.
