A friends-to-lovers second-chance romance from USA Today bestseller Siobhan Davis. Standalone with HEA and no cliffhanger. Lana I knew it would end in disaster, but I didn’t listen to reason. I didn’t care. Because I loved him so much. Kalvin Kennedy ruled my heart. Until he destroyed it. Shattered it so completely that I became someone else. Someone I loathed. Someone who repeatedly lied to her … someone else. Someone I loathed. Someone who repeatedly lied to her loved ones.
So, I ran.
From him. From myself. Desperate to hide my new reality.
But I could only run so far.
When he reappears in my life, I’m terrified. Unbelievably scared of facing the consequences of my actions.
Never mind that I still love him and want him so badly—there’s too much at stake now.
How can I trust him with the biggest secret of all when he’s likely to rip my world apart again?
Kalvin
Lana was always far too good for me. Everyone knew it but her.
I tried to stay away, but I was weak.
And I hurt her.
Crushed her until she barely resembled herself. Forced her to follow a path she would never have willingly chosen.
And then she was gone.
And my world has never felt as empty, as lonely.
She begged me to stay away. Not to find her. To forget she ever existed.
But that’s like asking me to slice my heart in two and toss half aside.
I’ve never believed in fate, but when I rock up to the University of Florida, I’m ready to eat my words.
Because she’s here. Like I hoped she would be. And I’m determined to prove I deserve a second chance.
Will I enjoy this book?
If you enjoy emotional, angsty, second-chance romance with hot guys and a dash of drama set within a college backdrop then you should enjoy Loving Kalvin!
While you don’t need to read the first three books in this series to enjoy Loving Kalvin, it is highly recommended. This book is upper young adult/new adult, and it is only suitable for readers aged seventeen and older due to mature content, sexual situations, and language.
This book, like its predecessors, contains a controversial subject which, on this occasion, relates to something Lana did to Kal previously that some readers might find unforgivable. If you don’t like being stretched out of your comfort zone, then I’d recommend you skip this book.

I loved this! Although it is a standalone in the series, It’s my favorite of this series so far! I loved the second chance romance of Kalvin and Lana! It really pulled at my heart strings.
Loving Kalvin was a heart wrenching 5 star read and book four in The Kennedy Boys series.
I was excited to read this book, this is Lana and Kalvin’s story.
Lana is at college, while out with her roommate she sees Kalvin. She immediately leaves the party trying to avoid him. Lana has lost everything that was dear to her, her parents are separated and ever since she falsely accused Kalvin she has also been bullied or shunned. My heart broke for some of the things that were done and said to her.
Kalvin has been searching for Lana and is excited that he has finally found her. Now he can get her back and they can be together. For years he kept Lana as a secret until he pushed her too far and she was hurt. Kalvin now has a second chance to make things right with her.
Can they get their HEA? What will happen if Lana’s secret gets out?
There is so much more to this great read. I loved seeing some of the characters from the other books in the series. All of the secondary characters were great. The epilogue was great and I want to see more from these two, please. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. Siobhan Davis has quickly become one of my top favorite authors to read. I highly recommend this series, 1-click and get started today.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I’ve always loved Kalvin in the other Kennedy Boys books and was thrilled to read his story.
Although I really didn’t care for Lana in the beginning I grew to realize that she felt a certain way because of her love for Kal.
Kal was so forgiving and it wasn’t until Lana grew to forgive herself that I liked her character even though she was holding a very substantial secret. External characters were involved in trying to circumvent their relationship as well but there was really nothing that could truly derail their love. I enjoyed their story so much!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
I am so much loving this series, and I’m so happy with how things turned out for Kal and Lana. It was not easy by any mean at all, and they had a heck of a fight to get where they are, but in the end Kal and Lana are destined to be together.
This book has so many emotions in it. I cried so much. Good and bad. Kalvin and Lana have had a hard time of it, and it takes so much for them to pull out on the other side. Just when things are going good though, something bad happens.
It takes so much for Kalvin and even Lana to forgive the other for things that have happened, it’s a miracle they’re even talking at points. What they have, and the things they endured is totally worth everything though. It’s something really special and I can’t wait to hear more from them in the future. Now on to Brad’s book.
So excited to get Lana and Kalvin’s story! A good chunk of their backstory happens in books 1-3, but so much happens with them in their own book. I was shocked a few times, but mostly I swooned. Who doesn’t love a good story about young love and overcoming trying times. I can’t wait for the next Kennedy Brothers book! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
5 Soul Healing Stars
This is the ultimate story of love lost, love found and the power of forgiveness. This story will gut punch you in the feels and leave you gasping for breath. Siobhan has done it again, this book is completely unputdownable. She draws you in from the start and keeps you guessing throughout.
Kalvin was always my second favorite to Kyler because that boy is all the things, but Kalvin certainly gave him a run for his money. Kalvin outwardly is nonchalant he was just going about his life doing his thing breaking hearts. Whoring around and having fun. But unfortunately he broke the wrong heart with Lana. I don’t think he really meant too, he was just young and dumb and made some serious mistakes. I think to him Lana was forever and he just wasn’t ready for that.
Well if you’ve read through Kyler’s trilogy you already know what happens with them so I won’t go into detail but I’ll sum it up by saying she falsely accused him of rape. This made me so mad at Lana seriously furious with her. I liked her up until that. She was a lonely girl living in the servant’s quarters pretty much and loving a boy just out of her reach. Not to mention she was manipulated by Kyler’s ex psycho Addison into doing in the first place. But that doesn’t excuse what she did. She does retract her story and then she disappears from everyone, not answering phone calls anymore and no one knows where she is.
Kalvin follows her to the school that the both dreamed about when they were young and spoke of the future together, just hoping that she still decided to go there. And of course she did because this was a piece of both of them, a part of their story that wasn’t tainted by the accusations. Kalvin starts trying to get to know Lana again, he’s trying to build stability within each other, because yes they made mistakes but he forgives her and wants to be with her.
Lana then drops another bomb on him one that should be unforgivable. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone so I won’t state what it is but it’s huge. And you can’t feel his whole world shatter around him. The layers of sadness are almost too much to bear. But I think this is exactly what needed to happen for both of them to truly move forward together. They needed to hit the absolute rock bottom to know that, yes, this is the person I want to be with no matter what.
This story pulls every emotion out of you until you’re rung dry. It’s a literal emotional wringer. But oh so worth it in the end. You watch these two completely flawed characters break and bend and mold into these people that they should have always been. You get to watch as their childhood love grows into something so much more. You know without a doubt that these two can get through anything. This is truly a beautiful story of acceptance of the person you love and the simple act of forgiveness.
I have been waiting for Kals story since I read the first book, he is one of my favorite characters. When I opened this book I was so relieved to see than Lana was the h for Kal. I had a feeling that their story wasn’t over and oh boy was I right! Siobhan has a way of doing the unexpected and this book is no different. I absolutely loved this book!
I loved it! Kalvin and Lana fell in love when they were both too young to understand. After Lana accuses him of rape and then later says it wasn’t true she believes they will never be together. Kalvin will do anything to have Lana be his. Such a sweet love story. There are so many moving moments in this book .
Kalvin has been one of my favorites since the beginning. I’ve always loved his jokester and easy- going charm. I’ve just always known that under his playful ways and his reputation as a player, there was more than meets the eye. I hated everything he had to go through in Kyler and Faye’s books, so I was pretty excited to read his story to see how things turned out for him!
Kal is a good guy. He has a lot of heart and he doesn’t stop fighting for what he wants. That shows throughout Loving Kalvin. It made me fall more in love with him. In this story, he leaves his family behind to follow the girl he loves to Florida. Lana and Kal grew up together and have been in love with each other for as long as both of them can remember. You get to see more into their history and what made them fall in love with each other. BUT! Seeing all that just made me MORE angry with Lana. I am not going to lie, I am not a Lana fan. Despite the fact that she has a history and messed up big time before their time in college, she continued to lie to Kal. Even after it all comes out, I still don’t know if I’m not mad at her. I know Kal made mistakes in the past, but in my opinion, he made up for those mistakes and didn’t deserve any more pain and lies.
Regardless, I know Kal loves Lana and I’ve thought more about my feelings toward her since I put the book down and I’m working on forgiving her myself. That’s just it. Kal’s story is about forgiveness. Of course, family and love play huge factors, but forgiveness is the key! When you truly love someone with everything you are, you find it in your heart to forgive them and thats what Kal did.
This story hurts the heart, but it’s beautiful too. You will feel sad, angry, happy, livid, and more happy! There are parts of this story where my heart soared with happiness. Seeing Kal in a new light was beautiful! I’m looking forward to Brad’s book and seeing glimpses of Kal and Lana in future books!
THIS DOES CONTAIN SPOILERS
Awe I love Kalvin too. This was a great book. I am so happy for him and Lana. Although I wanted to reach through the pages and strangle Lana for that bullshit hiding the baby. How could she do that to him especially knowing what the other boys just went through and how Kyler has his daddy issues. I love this series.
Kalvin was one of my favorite brothers in the Kyler books. I was shattered when the fun loving boy became a shell of his former self, all tied up in the actions of the girl he loved and a crazy ex who couldn’t let go of his brother. So yes, many could never forgive Lana, the girl that shattered Kalvin’s heart, and messed up his life, but we also saw Kalvin living a half life without Lana in his life. This is a story of forgiveness and love and it was perfect for these two.
Lana did an unspeakable thing, she accused Kalvin of rape when he did no such thing, all because she was manipulated by a crazy ex-girlfriend of Kyler’s. Living in today’s world what women, or even men, need to remember is that words hold an incredible power. Once they are out in the world you cannot take them back. Alligations, accusations they damage a reputation whether you mean them or not. This is something both Kalvin and Lana learn as they attend college, even a year after the original rape claim has been dropped. You may be able to forgive, but other people and especially media doesn’t forget.
So here we are, moving forward a year after everything has settled after the rape charge and Kalvin has taken a huge leap of faith attending UF in anticipation that Lana is also attending there as well. It is something they talked about as kids and he is hoping that dream is still in her plans. Even after she accused him, he still loves her. He has never stopped loving her, actually with everything that happened, he loves her more. He knows he made mistakes and she did too, but he wants to move forward and just be with her. He just hopes he isn’t too late.
Lana never expects to see Kalvin again, especially after accusing him and basically destroying his life. When she sees him at college she panics. There is so much left unsaid between them and she doesn’t know where to begin. How can he want to be with her when she is so broken and damaged. She is not the same person he once knew. When he insists they need to reconnect because he also isn’t the same boy she is weak to resist. She hasn’t stopped loving him and probably never will, but she’s not sure he will ever forgive all the secrets she’s kept from him.
I understand where both of these two were coming from, Siobhan always writes difficult characters beautifully. She puts them in difficult situations, but you feel empathy for them even when you shouldn’t. There are so many times when their past comes up to challenge these two and it’s a very good reminder that doing good and being good is always the way to live your life, but also to be leary of trojan horses. Some people just aren’t good people and can’t be trusted.
I love that Kalvin and Lana got their happy ending and I’m looking forward to reading more of the Kennedy’s
This book was everything that I wanted!! I fell in love with Kal during Ky books and was so excited to see his book was next!! Read this book you will not be disappointed!!
Where to begin… I love this series. I devoured the first three books in a day and a half. Those books center around Kyler Kennedy and Faye Donovan, and I fell in love with them and the rest of their effed up family. I became quite fond of Kalvin in those books and he was actually a pretty decent guy for a sixteen-year-old. Don’t get me wrong, Kalvin was no angel, but he went through some really serious crap in book three, which was perpetrated by his best friend and sort of girlfriend, Lana. Lana disappeared at the end of that book around the same Kalvin realized how much he loved her.
Loving Kalvin is Kalvin and Lana’s story. She’s a college student now, trying to move on with her life. She’s thoroughly ashamed and remorseful for what she did to Kalvin and is completely stunned when he turns up as a student at the same school, making it clear he has not only forgiven her but wants a second chance. Lana still loves Kal but finds it hard to believe he has truly forgiven her. She wants that second chance more than anything but once she fills him in on the humdinger of a secret she’s keeping, she fears that they will be over for good.
I have mixed feelings about Lana. I don’t hate her. I don’t even dislike her but it was kind of a stretch to believe that anyone with any integrity, no matter how hurt they were, could allow someone to manipulate them into doing what she did to Kal. Having said that, I did like the book a lot. Lana might not be my favorite person but she did end up doing the right thing, and Kal sincerely loves her so much and I just wanted them to have their happy ending. This is a really emotional, engrossing story that pulls at the heartstrings and I couldn’t put it down.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
5 LOVING KALVIN STARS!! I love these Kennedy Boys…..Kalvin is so sweet and forgiving. Lana and Kalvin’s story has all the feels and brilliantly written. These two have a lot to work out, but get a second chance and what drama they have. This book is a page Turner and you can’t put it down.
Kalvin Kennedy used to live the high life, a different girl at every party, doing whatever he wanted. That all changed a year ago when he was accused of something unforgivable. While the truth came out, the accusations forever changed Kalvin’s outlook on life, the one thing that hasn’t changed is his love for Lana. Lana’s life forever changed the night she gave her innocence to Kalvin Kennedy. The aftermath that followed is one that she still can’t forgive herself for. She’s changed her name, and is looking for a fresh start, away from the boy who owns her heart. Now they are both at the University of Florida, with two different goals, Lana wants to stay as far away from Kalvin as she can, while Kalvin is determined to prove to Lana that he isn’t the same person and deserves a second chance. As the two begin to spend more time together, it’s hard to ignore that feeling of being complete. However Lana is still harboring a huge secret, Kalvin forgave her the first time she lied, will he be able to find it in his heart to forgive her for this one?
While ‘Loving Kalvin’ is technically a stand-alone, to really understand that magnitude and their relationship I highly recommend you read the first three books in the Kennedy Brother’s series. That being said, I was super thankful this book didn’t end in a cliffhanger…I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Siobhan Davis is like the cliffhanger queen…so like I said, I was super grateful this story ended with a happily ever after! We got a glimpse of Lana and Kalvin in the first three books but this book lets the reader dive deeper into their lives and their feelings. We get a better understanding of why things played out the way they did. The chemistry between Lana and Kalvin jumps off the pages, and I love that we got to touch base with the Kennedy Family!
Kalvin has been my favorite Kennedy boy since the beginning of this series. I was so excited to finally get his story and his happily ever after. Lana and Kal have a history and they have hurt each other so much. Seeing how they work their way back to each other was an incredible journey. I love this series!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book for free to give a voluntary honest review. This review contains only my own thoughts and opinions of this book.
This is one of those books that gives me mixed feelings. One part of me really loved it, while another part … well, not so much. Those parts constantly battled as I’ve read and, having finished the book, I have no idea how I feel about it, what my conclusive stand point is. Hopefully writing this review will clear things up for me.
The easiest way to summarize my perfect kind of book is dramatic, romantic and a lot of mystery and suspense all clipped together with a few perfectly placed cliffhangers here and there (you know, to enhance the drama and suspense). On many levels this book was very close to that and that is usually enough for me to love it. And while I can agree that finding a book so perfectly fitting my standards is next to impossible I’m not really that picky, as long as the book does something for me. Even if Loving Kalvin was drama filled with suspense and a very strong romance, It just did not do it for me the same way I had hoped for. It felt too predictable, with too few twists. Because of that the mystery and excitement I wanted to feel, the need and intrigue that hooks me to a storyline, sort of went away. It wasn’t until the end of the story when unexpected stuff and revelations came to play that I could finally fully invest myself in it and only then did I feel that wanting spark that makes me fall in love with books.
I still very much liked the struggle, passion and love in Lana and Kalvin’s relationship (even if the dialogues and declarations were cheesy and a bit too much for coming out of eighteen year olds mouths). The heavy secrets and past they had to overcome added to the drama greatly. I liked the roles some of the new characters put into play for the storyline and it really gave the “calm before the storm” impression, keeping me reading with gusto. It just was not enough for me though. I felt like Siobhan could have taken it further, make it more complex and interesting, but she held back just so she could wrap it up in one book. It felt a bit rushed and too many complicated matters was solved way to easily and way fast because of that, especially the end (no spoilers though). Because it felt rushed I couldn’t find the same depth to the story as I’ve come to recognize in Inseparable and the previous books in The Kennedy Boys series. It’s really a shame. I think if Loving Kalvin had been a series, or at least a bit longer, it would have gotten more of that “oomph” that is trademark Siobhan Davis.
I really wished I had enjoyed Loving Kalvin more. It did after all have many good qualities. It just was not enough for me, for the fact that it became too rushed to a conclusion when too many things was going on. If I could give half a star I would put this book at three and a half stars. However, since it is not possible on amazon and since the last chapters really saved the book and kept me on my toes with my nose glued to the pages, I’m giving it four stars.
Prepare to have your mind changed. Forget your Lana hate. This is the best Kennedy Boys book yet! I will be honest, I was not a Lana fan. I mean, she’s no Addison, but she never seemed to have much personality and then she went and hurt a Kennedy. And since I am confessing, Kalvin and Lana didn’t hold any appeal to me as a couple either. Siobhan Davis proved her worth with this book. Not only did I change my mind about Lana, I actually became sympathetic and sided with her at times. And more than anything I wanted Lana and Kalvin to work out their issues and get their HEA. This is a beautiful love story. It’s a story of human flaws, bravery, perseverance, forgiveness, and love. There’s no soap opera drama, no car chases or kidnapping. This is a story of mistakes, misunderstandings, secrets. It’s poignant. It’s touching. It’s impassioned and heartwarming.
After the trial, Lana and her family fled to Florida. After changing her name she enrolled in the University of Florida. She knows that she will always love Kalvin, but she also knows that she ruined any chance to ever be with him, so she’s starting a new life. She keeps busy with classes, volunteering, family, and wallowing in guilt. What she never expects is that Kalvin will show up on campus. He’s never forgotten their conversations about going to Florida and he’s hoping to find Lana. He dreams of a future with her. Once he finds her, Lana doesn’t make it easy for him. Wooing is necessary. Their’s isn’t an easy path to togetherness. Both make mistakes, for a minute it seems that history may repeat itself. There’s always more to the story than what we can see at a glance. Secrets are exposed. Some secrets are shocking, unforgivable, hurtful, but they can also bring unexpected joy and a brilliant future. There’s always more to the story than what we can see at a glance. Some things are meant to be. Lana and Kalvin are meant to be.
This book is written in dual POV. Lana is a much more sympathetic character than ever expected and Kalvin has matured. They each have pretty great roommates. Faye and Ky make a couple much appreciated appearances. The ending to this book is near perfection. I dare you not to fall in love yourself. Childhood love, a second chance, a fairy tale romance, and a HEA. This is the perfect summer read!
I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book. This review may contain mild spoilers.
This book starts out with Lana attending college in Florida. She does not know that Kalvin Kennedy has enrolled there as well looking for her.
I highly suggest you read the 3 books prior to this book abut Kalvin’s brother Kyler to get the full picture of Kalvin and the Kennedy family in general but of you can’t read those then know that Kalvin has made some majob changes in his life and in his behaviors. I really came into this book thinking that Kyler was my favorite Kennedy brother but I have to say that Kalvin is right up there with him and I find a have a soft spot in my heart for him even with his bad boy behaving past. This book is definitely a roller coaster ride of emotions but this series just continues to get better and better. I didn’t want it to end and ot definitely earned 5 stars from me.
4.5 Stars
Loving Kalvin is the fourth title in the Kennedy Boys series. Whilst this title can be read as a stand-alone, I would highly recommend reading the previous three titles in order to fully understand the backstory of Kalvin and Lana.
I had really come to adore Kalvin’s character in the previous titles of this series, and was incredibly eager to read his story, and Ms Davis did not dissapoint.
Lana and Kalvin do not have an easy relationship and their story is full of drama and angst. This is a story of forgiveness, with secrets, lies, deceit and regrets throughout the story line. I will not lie this kept me completely enthralled and I did not want put down this second chance love story. Lana and Kalvin have a history some of which is sweet, yet some is also quite sordid. This story is an emotional tale that is both heartbreaking and heart warming. This pair have a great deal to overcome in order to find a happy ever after.
Ms Davis has written another engaging story with complex, yet endearing characters and I will be eagerly anticipating the release of the next title in the series featuring Brad.
*Told in a dual point of view and may contain triggers for some readers.
